Rachel isn't necessarily the "best". She is extremely talented but Tinna and Mercedes also have extremely strong voices, but Lea's character is extremely confident and motivated-making her the female lead and therefore having the most solos

She -does- do business, quite well, since she was on Broadway FIRST for her singing before being picked for this. Keep in mind that they don't pick all of the songs they do, they're assigned them, too, to fit an important part of the show. It may not be better, but it's not terrible, either. Use some common sense? You can't even spell Hollywood, where she's MADE IT

@colinmcom14 I agree, but I mean, come on, about half of their stuff is showtunes and classics as it is. If they increased it at all, they'd lose a lot of their fan base (teeny boppers who don't know anything but modern pop). I think it's pretty balanced as is. :)

XD Half of me's kinda of waiting for Tina to turn out to be a gamer nerd and do something from Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts in Japanese. :( I can only wish. There's the nerd in me coming out. But hey, anything foreign would be cool, and I think REALLY fit into the theme of the show.

And even if they don't perform necessarily, GOOD pop song, I think putting a new spin and a new voice on less desirable ones makes them a lot better. "Telephone," "Baby; Somebody To Love" (Beiber), and "Friday," sound so much better from them, in my opinion. I actually ENJOY listening to the Glee covers of those. Idk if it's because they increase the tempo or the voices have more energy, but yeah.

Though Glee does take songs and change the context or what is implied at the surface, and I love that. "I wanna hold your hand"-lovers to father/child; "Landslide"-father/daughter to lovers; "I dreamed a dream".-lovers/life's struggles to mother/daughter (which is not far off from Fantine and Cosette, however the orginal song is more directed at Tholomyè.)
