Oliver Stone also directed that piece of shit film Any Given Sunday--and Platoon, which was ok. But I am not an Oliver Stone fan because he works his crew and actors from 7am to about 2am. He filmed that piece of shit Any Given Sunday here in Dallas and I was in it. LONG HOURS!!! Oliver Stone is also a pot head. I didn't see him smoke, but other people on the set talked about it.
The internet is not going to ruin films. It will just add to it and one day, we may even see You Tube award shows.

First off I agree with you chris. Already I see so many great videos done by kids. I make youtube videos because I love music and hate all the crappy lo-fi videos people post of songs and fave bands. I make mine with a lot of style I think instead of justa blurry album cover and a song. Although I did that too the first week I ever tried it. Check my stuff out.
The first vid I've saw from this YouTuber it was really good.
The internet isn't going to "kill" anything that's what people make up, piracy can be sold on the street so there you go directly on DVD's to sale without the need of internet.

Just a thought, if people who make movies on the internet feel the need to add more effects or use a well known actor or something that would take a bit more than 500 dollars to create, they would need a production studio to support them, which would give the industry more options as movie makers. And also who wouldn't want their movie to be on the big screen and making millions. rather than free or limited income on the internet? Go small time video peeps !!!

If some young punk makes a video about his plastic dinosaur riding on his fire truck, that could spark an idea for someone else to make the big screen version of the T-Rex Firefighting Superhero named Todd. If Todd goes multi million, there's another someone else to follow up with Chris the Unfamous YouTube Persona Turned Supervillian Pyro in the sequel.
Internet videos are a bit different than well written feature films, or thought provoking short films. I think Stone is right, movies are more than just some friends jumping in a pool. It's true, with the tools available today, tomorrow's movie makers will be well versed in technique from young age. Questions is, will they have been exposed to material that will facilitate them in writing an interesting & solid story. I'd be nice to have less Police Academy's and more Salvador's and Platoon's.
So, the internet is going to open the door of film making to people who are actually creative and have good ideas, as opposed to just child stars and children of very old actors.

Maybe he's scared of future Competition, young'uns are getting the free downloads and experimenting now with film making, developing their skills, if they go to Film School in the future, which is unlikely because they will most likely learn more about film making before they get there, film school is a technical exercise, they can't teach you how to write a good film only shoot one with a large budget and crew, but they'll be getting coffee for a few years before they get that brake.

The Film Industry needs to die.... its gone down hill since the corporations took over 40-50 some odd years ago. Movies these days are more about what focus groups like or dislike... not the story or the emotion of the piece. It has become a rare event to come across a movie that places the plot or emotion over product placement & box office numbers .
I think online videos enhances the film industry and television shows. The next generation of film makers do have a headstart and will be better at their trade because of their experience and the feedback they receive from doing youtube videos.
Like you said, getting the basis for the kids now will later bring them to probably some of the best film and tv writers out there. I'm pretty sure if kids start now and their ideas start out now and get even a small fanbase and later they get the proper funding to make something come out of what they've been doing with a cheap movie prgram and camera. Will this ruin the the movie business, hell no! you can't get special effects on youtube videos that can be exactly like movies
Oliver Stone is crazy... and he's only happy when he has something to complain about. He thrived during the 80s during the Reagan years, went a little off the radar during the Clinton era, then exploded again when Bush was in office. Now that we once again have a president he probably voted for, he needs something new.
And I agree that the next generation of film maker is going to have a lot more experience to fall back on.

Having just been thawed out from Cryostasis or whatever, :-)) (my house gets very cold at night and I refuse to buckle to Winter - yet, ) I thought for some random brain cell reason, that Oliver Stone was the Military guy ( a Colonel I think ) that was covering up for one of the Presidents ?? - Anyway, I agree with you, being as I am still half brain frozen !

you know, when the hole world was looking for that balloon boy, a woman in Austraila lost grip of her pram on a train station and it rolled off onto the tracks only second before the train pulled in. the mother tryed to save the pram from falling but miss and ended up brushing her hand on the front of the train instead, lucky the baby lived thanks to the pram it was in. so yay! our prams save lives, which is great because people don't know what brakes are anymore........

lol@ the amount of total shite movies out there. I dont think the internet is killing the movie industry...I just e=went to Inglorious Basterds for the 6th time las night. Some movies rock hard..especialy on the big screen. I like internet programming (like yer show) cause tv sucks and i like to be able to choose my own programming from people i think are funny and smart. Peace.

I don't really watch tv anymore. Those people were right in predicting there will be 500 channels of crap on the air. On youtube I have learned about people and places, philosophies and ideas. I have made friends all around the world I would not have met otherwise. And I make videos about stuff that I like, or interests me. So, the internet might hurt tv and movies, but actors and filmmakers are a bunch of overpaid clowns anyway. None of them care about you and I. Great video!

Actually, the Internet has taken some buisness from the movie biz. I used to go out an see a movie if I wanted to watch something. Now, I'll watch YouTube. Though, I can probably place part of that blame on a lack of 40 bucks in my pocket. So expensive.

The Film Industry needs to die.... its gone down hill since the corporations took over 40-50 some odd years ago. Movies these days are more about what focus groups like or dislike... not the story or the emotion of the piece. It has become a rare event to come across a movie that places the plot or emotion over product placement & box office numbers .

I think online videos enhances the film industry and television shows. The next generation of film makers do have a headstart and will be better at their trade because of their experience and the feedback they receive from doing youtube videos.

Like you said, getting the basis for the kids now will later bring them to probably some of the best film and tv writers out there. I'm pretty sure if kids start now and their ideas start out now and get even a small fanbase and later they get the proper funding to make something come out of what they've been doing with a cheap movie prgram and camera. Will this ruin the the movie business, hell no! you can't get special effects on youtube videos that can be exactly like movies

Oliver Stone is crazy... and he's only happy when he has something to complain about. He thrived during the 80s during the Reagan years, went a little off the radar during the Clinton era, then exploded again when Bush was in office. Now that we once again have a president he probably voted for, he needs something new.
And I agree that the next generation of film maker is going to have a lot more experience to fall back on.

I think internet video is absolutely harming television. Two reasons why:
1. You can see many shows online now, legally or not.
2. People are making their own shows, some of which are actually good, and we get it for free.
