  • 1:03 I always knew black was the colour of love. <3

  • i was told by my ds that red as akai and blue was aoi --- then again I seen anime such as ao no exorcist.. so im guessing both are right.. but watch about red... when is it akai and aka?

  • @thewolfydragon1989 when it is an ajektive you say aoi, when it is not then you say ao. and the same with aka.

  • where is orange ( in japonese " orenji" right? )

  • @YoungMangaka you are correct about yellow but blue IS ao. aoi is when you are describeing a word

  • Aoi aoi ao sora~ shiro shiro ano kumo~ :D

  • @winxmichelle1 so cute! :D

  • thank you so much for the video :D now i can learn japanese

  • Both

  • Both

  • ok im confused i know ao is blue in japanese but i also heard aoi is blue also which one is right?

  • @natedogg0314 Both are. Aoi is the adjective form (Like "the blue wagon") whereas ao is the noun (the colour blue).

  • lol try to listen to them and guess what color it is, its fun :D dont look what they do, just listen >:D

  • 桃色ももmomo is peache. The color momo iro is the one of a young lady's cheek.

  • 桃色遊戯 momoiro yu-gi, sexual play

  • i thought that yellow was kiro...

  • @Diomonds4 Uh it's like Ki iro I think ... so like "Yellow colour" ... I unno :P I'm just learning myself.

  • Thank you, I just love those brush strokes.

  • The Kanji alphabet is used when we want to speak with a specific politeness and also represents words?

Please somebody tell me when to use Kanji because I really want to learn Japanese.

  • Please help. Someone told me orenji is the fruit and daidaiiro is the color orange.

  • "Ao" is Japanese for blue? But that's hilarious, so if someone from the western world gets hurt, and goes "aua ao ao ao auauaua!!" all Japanese can hear is "BLUE BLUE BLUE BLUE BLUE"??

    aahahahahahaha

  • @kattowitz4 This video is incorrect, In japanese, Ao is not Blue, Aoi is Blue, though I'm sure it was an honest mistake.

  • At 1:49 n isn´t say midori (みどり)

    say midotsu (みどつ)

  • @darkhorstachio I see what you mean but thats just the way its written. り is more computer simplified and thus appears slightly different. The same applies to さ and き in which case the bottom arc is usually disconnected.

  • It was bugging me for like 10 minutes bc the music was so familiar, then I realized it sounds like Rihanna's Umbrella lol. Good video though...

  • what are those red writings in red when you say the words for?

  • @scytheXmaster425 the write in harigana

  • Remembering is hard but I going to learn, Say what is create a video response means, Is it show if u like it? I just spot it And is momoiro really is a word for orange

I understand momo means orange when u put iro end of it makes it a collour?

  • Pink 桃色 momo-iro It means peach color.

Orange 橙色 daidai-iro It means bitter orange color.

Gray 灰色 hai-iro It means ash color.

Brown 茶色 tya-iro It means tea color.(not green tea)

The color I like the best is purple! 私がいちばん好きな色は紫です!

  • @saiougauma1029 i thought that orange was orenji and that pink was pinku?

  • what about momoiro? =[

  • @mustinator1

you make me wanna play Pokemon when u said ash

  • ありがとう

  • ありがてう

  • @cebudayori :it's tou....arigatou.

  • what does ja ne mean?

  • @itachiXXfanXXgirl it means see you or see you later.

  • @itachiXXfanXXgirl :informal way of saying "it isn't"

  • I always see the kanji for green on green tea bottles. Do they really call it green tea in Japan though?

  • @KittyLuvYou i think the Japanese call it 抹茶:D

綠茶 means green tea in Chinese not Japanese.

  • @tresila So green tea is chinese? or japanese? or both even?

  • very good thanks a lot.beautiful language

  • i have a question =o=

When you write Kanji can it all be thin lines or do you have to make it thick where you see it?

    thanks XD

  • @TreesAreYourFriend well it depends on what ur writing with.

with pencil, its more like swoossh with the pencil to make variated thickness in the line but not all profesisonal looking like on here. if its with a brush, then yes thickness is good

  • @TreesAreYourFriend Of course you dont have to draw it in thick lines, it just looks better when demonstrated on computers.

  • this sounds like a grand theft auto song! lol

  • los kanjis no se representaban con el abecedario de katakana?

  • It kinda sucks when people don't say indigo D; 藍! :3

  • @CelestiusNexus OH MY GOD I KNOW RIGHT??!! My mom was going to name me Indigo, actually, until my dad said no. Thus I became Andrea ;)

  • Thumbs up if you think 0:53 sounds like Umbrella by Rihanna...

  • what was pink !!!!

  • what about brown pink gray and orange

  • @trackmaniakid27

    brown 茶色 ちゃいろ chairo

pink 桃色 ももいろ momoiro or ピンク pinku

    gray 灰色 はいいろ haiiro

    orange 橙色 だいだいいろ daidaiiro

  • @trackmaniakid27 and in Haiiro, Hai 灰 means ashes..so it makes sense!

  • Where do you put your tongue on the Japanese R? and Japanese also does not have an L, correct?

  • Your prononciation is a bit weird maybe because of the mic. Are you a native japanese speaker?

  • aaaaaaaah its godzilla with an ipod for some reason lisaning to nicleback

  • QUE BONITO LA VERDAD ME GUSTARIA APRENDER ESTE IDIOMA Y ME PARECE SENSILLA LA PRONUNCIACION

  • @linday03 That makes sense.

  • 私は紫色といい、ビデオありがとう愛です。

  • so yellow is kiiro?

    right???

  • @xoxoxoIKUTOxoxoxo no yellow is ki

  • @xoxoxoIKUTOxoxoxo Native Japanese usually use "kiiro" (黄色)

  • oh. thanks :)

  • I was looking for the word red in japanese, for my email. thank you! Aka Setsu: i think it means "Red Snow"

  • @klbozwell Red snow is aka yuki

  • good

  • i know black easily, frm KUROKAMI!!!!!!!!!

  • @kokishundo I know black easly because "kuro" resembles "escuro" wich means "dark" in Portuguese.

  • wow... that close?!? interesting...

  • I thought "yellow" was "kiiro" not just "ki". Or is Google making terrible translations?

  • I believe it is kiiro I never learned yellow as ki.

  • @animefangirl20

Lol! Ok, you guys. Kanji a lot of the time is the "Core" of a word. Understand that "Iro" means "Color" So, "Ki-iro" means "Eggyolk-color" in the same way that while "Ao" is blue, "Sora-iro" is "Sky blue" because it's "Sky colored" SO! you might have to find the Kanji for "color" and attach to the one for "Yellow" (which is really just eggyolk lol) and you'll have "Kiiro" or "Ki-iro" Gets? Oh, and interesting note, Japanese used to only have two colors Red and Blue, weird?lol

  • @MrOmniblast so I can basically put -iro after anything and it's clear what I'm meaning?

  • Comment removed

  • i noe blue rly well

    cus naruto

    aoi aoi ano sora

  • haha! yah :)

  • murasaki - purple... right?

  • Arigatou Gozaimasu ^-^~

  • Konbanwa

  • *Wow; this lessons are gold; thank you very much!

Please continue sharing this; this is the best gift that people can share. Congratulations, great video. n_n!

  • lol at the character of 'murasaki'. looks like a face.

  • Writing in Japanese is an art!

  • @bernidamm Then I'm an artist! =^.^=

  • @malinamih

    Yes,you are :D

  • @bernidamm Well, that's because Japanese is based off of Chinese, and "Kanji" are Chinese characters adopted into the language (note they're not pronounced the same, though). :)

  • its GODZILLAAAAAAA oh wait a minute he has an ipod wonder what he is listening to Godzilla replies I AM LEARNING THE COLORS OR THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE japanese people reply that is one huge ipod i always thought we were trying to make those things smaller like we do to everything else so all this time godzilla was trying to destroy japan he was merely confused as to what we were saying next movie gozilla learns break dance GODZILLA NOOOOOOOO sorry for my comment i just found gozillaipod funny

  • lol thats okey...XD

  • you did not replay pink and orange.

I do not know pink, but I know Orengi

  • orenji and pinku should have been mentioned, even though they don't have kanji

    Other than that, nice video.

  • they do have kanji

    daidaiiro 橙色 orange

    momoiro 桃色 pink

  • 紫 is kinda hard、the others are ok though. Thanks for the video!

  • En realidad se aprende mucho con estos videos. Arigatou gozaimasu

  • Hmmm, I thought yellow was kiiro?

  • the "ki" alone means tree

    but "kiiro" means yellow

i dont know if they made a mistake there but what are the odds now lol

  • I always seen White, Black and Blue as

    Shiroi-white

    Kuroi-Black

    Aoi-Blue

Why at times is there an "i" , if the real colors are Shiro, Kuro and Ao? Maybe "i" is what you put after the color if you're going to make it a name? Can someone please clear this up for me? ^_^

  • I think, that you hang the "i" on the end to make it into an adjective. Hmm I dont know what it is when it doesnt have the "i" at the end. But I pretty sure it has something to do with the grammar rules for turning stuff into adjectives. There are the "na" adj. and "i" ones.

Hope it helped a little. I'm still learning : )

  • I'm learning as well. lol. Thank you. ^_^

  • if im correct, aoi shiroi and kuroi mean blue, white, and black as adjectivws. with out the extra "i" they mean those respective colors as nouns

  • I'll ask my sensei to see what's correct. lol. They might. Who knew colors could be so confusing... xD

  • coz i i think colours with termination of I , are adjectives ,

and without it are normal colours , 青い、白い、黒い=adjectives ¡

  • Thank you! ^_^

  • the "i" at the end indicates that its in adjective form... when there is no "i" its just the name of the colour

  • Thank you. ^_^

  • You are most welcome X)

  • ^_^

  • ????????

  • Nevermind...

  • no... please Im interested

  • Trust me, there's nothing.

  • Are you sure?

  • Hai.

  • maybe it was something on my clothes... but anyway... whatever you say... cuz that wasnt a smiling smiley... hence the raised doubts.. Hai

  • Sou ka....

  • Nandayou???

    ii deska?

  • Nani?

  • Nevermind...

  • Got it. ^_^"

  • have you now?

  • Have I what? (Sorry if I sound like an idiot.)

  • not really, you dont... it has been a one-word dialogue for a while now so I guess it took the best of me as well as you lol

  • Guess so. lol. ^_^

  • lol ^_^

  • Thanks for posting. What a lot of complaints... looks fine to me... a nice bit of revision.

  • what does the "ro" in the words mean, I mean in shiro shi means death colour of death = white

  • ro means color. if you look at the kanji or most of the colors it has the kanji for color at the end of it. This video just showed us the simple kanji and not how we would actually use it if we were speaking or writing.

  • Maybe thats why a dogi is white (samurais wore it while going to battle so they were ready if the died)

  • I thought yellow is kiiro no ki ?

  • Thats what I thought

Do u know if it id Kiiro or ki yet?

  • You are right.

    "iro" means "color".

  • How wonderful!!!

    5 shuriken

  • Thanks for a great video!

    The narrator's pronunciation of

    Japanese "r" sound is somewhat

    strange though ^^;

She pronunces it as English "r" sound.

    Japanese "r" is more like...

"t" in "little," "a lot of," "shut up"

    in American English.

  • no. the "r" sound is between "r" and "l".

  • Good video. Could've used more colours though.

  • Such demanding viewers... Bless them.

  • @hunyaga It was good enough for me. Arigatogozaimasu! 0.~

  • @hunyaga LOLZZZZ.......

  • The comments on this video are incredible, so many and so varied, from the sublime to the cor blimey. It seems I need to make a new video...

  • Ooh what happened to pink and orange :s Lol good video, it very helpful to me, i love japan and japanese for some reason Lol Dai suki! x x

  • pink is pinku and orange is orenju

  • orenji

  • oh yea. Sorry about that:P

  • Imagine this: HAVING ONE LANGUAGE WISH

I would wish to have ALL Kanji that have ever existed all perfect and downpacked in my mind.

    XD

Meanwhile back in reality, I really like this video. Its a good help. I think I know about 120+ Kanji + Hiragana and Katakana? It is very fun! I enjoyed this vid alot :D

  • i learnt Yellow to be "Kiiro"

  • As did I, and Ao and Aka are spelled and pronounced differently then when I learned them as well. :\ I'm so confused.

  • yeah, my friend told me that there isnt a name for yellow or something like that so its kiiro / ki iro

  • shiro = white

    kuro = black

    aka = red

    ao = blue

    midori = green

    ki = yellow

    murasaki = purple

    iro = colors

  • What's orange?

  • it's a colour probably taken from other languages, perhaps from english.

The orange colour in Japanese is "Daidai-iro" aka "orenji" (Similar as in English is)

(sorry but I can't paste or write it in kanji)

pink = pinku (also "momo" which means "peach")

gray = gurê (also "hai" which means "ash")

    ... etc

  • The Japanese sort of borrowed our word for it - "Orenji" ^^

  • whats the name of the other kind of writing? the one thats not kanij

  • You have the Hiragana alphabet for Japanese words and the Katakana alphabet for foreign words, so there are three.

  • thank you

  • it's so hard to write in kanji!..rememberin how to say and spell it,is kinda easy though. is there an easier way?!?

  • this might help, when your writeing each stroke for a kanji, count how many strokes there are.. so then if ur forgeting how to write a bit of the kanji but remeber how many strokes their are in it, it can help you remeber..

  • hey silvergenko,is ot in japanese,

    sky is pronounced as sora?

  • yes

  • If that's how it's spelt you qwould say it "soda" cuz of the whole 'r' thing

  • No. It's pronounced somewhat like "sora". You're thinking of Rs and Ls.

  • wat r the big symbols and is it the smaller ones u use wen ur writing the colors ? ahhh help me

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fran

  • Cos in Japanese they use Chinese characters as well ( Kanji ) so they can write it in kanji or hiragama

  • take a deep breath, everything is going to be OK

  • ahh! how am I supposed to learn how to write green in Japanese?!? *.* I can remember how to say it...

  • GODZILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • ummm those smaller symbols were hiragana right?

  • Correct

  • cool thanks

  • Hold on Blue is Aoi

    Pink in Pinku

    Yellow is Kiiro

    The rest sounds about right

  • 'Ao' is correct in the context she's using. You add the 'i' when the color becomes an adjective.

    Aoi (sky)

    Shoroi (dog)

    Kuroi (cat)

  • angel2411, Blue is actually ao, not aoi. Ao is used as the color, like "the sea is blue", while aoi is the adjective, like "The blue sky".

Pink is either pinku or momoiro. Both are correct, although pinku is most common.

  • huh, I'm learning japanese, and I thought aoi was butterfly. guess I need to hit the books....
