Man I've seen metal bass players play killer passages that made me shit brix. But you handle that goliath so beautifully that it softens my stools. I love the videos of your Conklin 7 string by the way. I played one before but it was like holding a tree.
@MistaMarko and cool to see you make good use of those extra strings. I get annoyed by those guys who demo a 7+ string bass on YouTube but only use the same 4 strings on any normal bass haha.
I LOVE the hesitation on the foundation note of each chord. It's nice you went with a musical interpretation, rather than like the majority of people on YouTube which thinks faster is better. Great job.
@MonkeyManBlues Glad you noticed it! I didn't have the entire song learned when I recorded this (still don't) and figured it would be bland with such a short excerpt played in the mechanical style, so I switched it up a little. Thanks for watching! -Mark
no offense, but it sounds kinda like 8 bit video game music. brighten up your tone a little bit, and let the notes ring out (chords in the left hand). that way you sounds more like a classical guitar player, which does the piece a lot more justice than a synth player.
i think i could, it isn't too hard. the 7-string allows me to stay in one position, where as a 4-string i would be doing a lot of awkward position hopping. could be done i suppose!
watch motnik's version on the right, theres a link to the sheet music he made. it's for 6 string bass, full of chords, but if you can't do that, pm me and ill send you a pdf of the music an octave lower
i'd say for first go around, that's pretty damn good sir. and the "one-string bass" comeback is classic...seems like anything that doesn't fit the "norm" is always questioned nowadays. good job anyway man.
It's awesome man. My only real amp, and I've never had a problem with it as far as being loud enough at a venue, or gig, or shaping the tone to a certain song. Its always great, and its extremely easy to carry around. I HIGHLY recommend it!
woot type of guitar is this? ;x

What is the string spacing on that?
I played four strings four ages then decided i liked a smaller string spacing so i played a 6 and now i'm thinking of moving to 7
i had a 6 custom made, 14mm string spacing lol said i liked tight spacing
castleshade13 2 years ago
Not too sure about string spacing as far as like numbers go, but it feels really comfortable and they aren't too close together at all in my opinion.
The 7 feels great, you should definitely go for it man!

other than that it sounds great

This was played on Cello, where no notes rang out...I chose to play the authentic style!!
Thanks though, man.
MistaMarko 2 years ago
cello allows notes to ring out unless you play pizzicato
DABOWSFILMS 2 years ago
Yeah, they do a bit actually after watching. Well, I guess that's where I can improve! :)

how do you play a 7 string??? i play a 5 string and have trouble reaching the g.

MistaMarko 2 years ago
you can play it on 4 string ...i did for a gig...you got to play it a fourth lower though..other than that its easy
3Kevindavid 2 years ago
Yeah, just some positioning changes.
MistaMarko 2 years ago
i can play that on cello no i have to learn it on bass
sc3094 2 years ago
