This may be the most tragic storyI have ever heard. I first saw this story in 2009 on MSNBC, and I am still looking for that version. While watching that version, I became determined to do everything I could to help David Reimer, but at the the end I learned he had committed suicide. I was devastated. This documentary is interesting. Watching this you also get an idea of what it's like to be transgendered, born with a gender identity crisis. It's harder for some of them though, ones that are born a girl, look like a girl but feel like a boy inside and have the brain chemistry closer to a boy, they have society look down on them but they can't help how they feel. A boy trapped in a girls body. Suicide rate is the highest among transgenders, imagine going through life feeling the wrong gender?

I read the book on this story, "As Nature Made Him" by Jon Colapinto. It elaborates on the story so much more than the tv special could. I felt like I knew David by the end of the book. It was completed in 2000, before the suicide, so it ends on a happy note. I was rooting for David.

He had been through hell and back and it all just ended like that. It is sad that he could not see how strong he was and how things could get better.
