Akuma is known as Gouki in Japan . In the US it's changed to Akuma probably cause it sounds better or something I never heard about .

gouki means "demon" while akuma means "devil." The original, in Japan, has him as gouki because he is suppose to be seen as a demon..which means he is powerful but not necessarily pure evil or anything like that. The american versions of the game re-named him "akuma".. which means devil... because they wanted the character to be more evil and more "boss character" like. Personally I think for the story "gouki" fits better as akuma isn't really "evil" as he doesn't do anything in malice.

so ending clearly shows that gouki has strong link with ryu and gouken try protect ryu to follow dark path. it seems in the gouki vs ryu trailer that gouki try to take ryu from gouken when he was very young but lose. and over all these years he tried to awaken evil intent in ryu.

I am sooooo happy I can use 3rd Strike's combos in this game. The d+MK air, d+MK, LK hurricane, HP dragon punch combo is still available. Plus, now you can now do a focus attack cancel while you're doing the uppercut to do an even bigger combo!!!
