The Five People You Meet in Heaven is one of my FAVORITE books. I read it last summer; I got so into it, it only took me 3 hours to read. I strongly recommend it, some parts are tear-jerking but it's really good. :)
I have the same problem. I buy books and I don't finish them. Especially when I had a job I would spend 100 or 150 or 200 on books every paycheck... I like having a lot of options at my disposal for when I have to take a shit. I love reading when I have to take a shit. Those exquisite 5 minutes of focused reading. In psychoanalisis it is said that anal retentive ppl read while shitting so they can fill the void the shit leaves after dropping with, whatever, in this case knowledge.
i read all harry potter and twilight BUT there is this one vampire series called vampire academy and its soo good it beats twilight by like infinity and my favorite series of books ever i read this in like 5th grd is Gregor the overlander i freakin LOVEEEEEE THOSE BOOKS!:3
OMG i love that book! its really interesting. we had to read books for study hall and i picked up that one and i was really happy, because it turned out to be a good read.
One of my favorite authors is Sandra Cisneros, and one of her best books is The House On Mango Street. ALL Latinas need to read her books, it should be required! She's just so freakin' amazing and inspiring without being preachy. Her entire life is an inspiration to all women, but especially those raised in the Hispanic cultures. She will help empower you. Honestly.
I DEFINITELY have a lot of books I need to read haha. So much that I'm not buying any more unless they're in a series I've already started or by one of my favorite authors. I'm sorry to say that....I have a problem. I would buy maybe...three at a time, read one, and buy three more. So now I have about...40 I have to read. Gah! They'll get read...eventually.
I read all the Harry Potter books ^^, finished them right in time for the 6th movie to come out, currentley reading the house of night series, i'm on tempted :P
The Harry Potter books are one of my all time favorites. The books get WAY better as they go along. Keep it up, you will be happy you did. With me, my problem is, I read a book then like half way through I find another one and eventually I get back to the original book. So my friends and family joke around saying that I read about 15 books at a time.
But my all time favorite book is a tie between the His Dark Materials and the Harry Potter series. I also loved The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms a
twilight books are my fav of course but other than that the house of night series, the summoning, sarah dessen books are good, blue bloods series, getting lost with boys was a cute book, vampire diaries, great and terrible beauty series, blue is for nightmares series. and i still have to read more lol
I have a huge list of books to read im reading Water For Elephants at the moment! and i just finished The Chaos Walking series (the knife of never letting go, the ask and the answer, and monsters of men) they were AMAZING!!!
Yes! I've read all the Harry Potter books! I have a huge queue of books I need to read. A small pile of them has been on my night stand for a couple weeks now.
I love anything by Janet Evanovich, she has amazing funny characters and scenarios !! Love her. I also love J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts. Twilight of course was an awesome series !
I've only actually read two of the Harry Potter books - I've listened to the rest on tape :D If you wanna finish em' fast, I'd recommend that way! Jim Dale is a great reader :3
I love the five people you meet in Heaven! I recommend another book called This Is All: The Pillowbook of Cordelia Kenn. I'm not a big reader either, but I finished it in two days, its soooooooooo good.
finished harry potter a little after the last one came out lol i'm a book reader XD hmmm fav books. the host by stephanie meyer. read it. it's better than twilight. angels and demons was awesome. and omg my new fav book is the hunger games! you really need to read that!
*Squee* Five People You Meet in Heaven is my favorite book toooooo! I kinda took the meaning of that book as the people who either you had a huge influence on thir life/death or they had a huge influence on yours. Super good book and one of the only ones I can read over and over.
I also love Jane Green. Her book Jemima J is a good read that I would recommend to ya!
I love the Twilight series & The Host, books by Sarah Dessen, and Luanne Rice. I have alot of books to read too haha. Its funny cuz when I buy it, I'm so anxious to read it, then I end up putting it on my shelf just to collect dust :P
Yeh that's like me I have a shelf full of books I see and buy then have never read yet but I will get round to it one day... Lol buy then I may have a whole book case lol
I have read all the Harry Potter books, but if you're having trouble finishing books I recommend you get the audible version. I listen to books on tape a lot while riding the subway, and sometimes it's easier to get into a book when you shut out all the auditory distractions. Good luck!
favorite book. this is a tough question. I have read a few (and by a few, i really mean only a few) books, mostly from school curricula. needless to say, they were all good in their own right, given them being on different school's reading list.
But one that really made a impression, is the holocaust short novel Night by Elie Wiesel. I remember it as beautifully pictorial and vivid, and at the same time shocking and sad.
I Love To Read I Read Many Books and I don't have A Favorite Book Because The book i read Mostly are Books That I was Interested In And Not Force To Read Or Else I won't read it lol I don't have A Lot Of Books In My House I would just rent it from the library and if i like it i buy it =)
I looooove to read and its hard picking just one book I love the entire Twilight series,a book called The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah, and of course My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult...I love all books by Zane as well.
i have bought so many more books than i've read and i don't really read very often but i have a list written down of all the books i want to read. also, i tend to read half of a book and then give up.
i'm reading "the perks of being a wallflower" right now and it's great :)
@rodriguez140 I agree. One of the stories in Names I Call My Sister is by Sandra Cisneros, and she's one of my ultimate favorite authors. I used to read a loooooooooooooooooooooot, but then i stopped this year and I need to get back into it. And then maaaaaaaaybe the Lord of the Rings series.
@doubtingthomas6042 Did you think that possibly some of these people ARE in Junior HIgh? Never, NEVER discourage people from reading. It doesn't matter as much WHAT they're reading as the fact that they ARE reading. You are just a snob, and that's not a good thing. I mean, good for you, you read. But, exactly WHAT do you call 'books of substance'? Anna Karenina? Anything by Fyodor Dostoyevsky? Books that outweigh you? Great for you, if so. Don't judge others though. Please.
@2hotinaz : Yeah, I think its okay for me to have an opinion on a book and people that like it. I never discouraged anyone from reading and entertainment is subjective and subject to opinion. You just judged me. That wasn't so hard was it?
@doubtingthomas6042: You STILL didn't answer my question, e.g.; "Exactly WHAT do you consider 'books of substance'? I've loved reading since I was 3 or 4. I basically taught myself to read as back then children were NOT encouraged to 'get ahead of themselves'. Since those days I've read almost ANYTHING that came my way, including the backs of cereal boxes. I STILL read at least a book a week, plus multiple magazines, over a wide range of subjects, from 'highbrow' on down. Love of reading is key!
@urbanjessay: A 'snob' is basically anyone who believes themselves to be an 'arbiter of taste'. They feel that their own opinions are the only ones that matter. omg ive read that book!! i actually found that book at a thrift store. i dont know but certain books find their ways to me when i need them in my life. BUT right now im in this HUGE reading block! its sooo annoying. Ive been in it for about 7months now and ive bought like 5 or 8 books and i just cant get into the zone to read them! im a picky reader so when i do read (i use to read a lot ) im totally engulf by it but idk im really sad cuz its something i really enjoy doing.
I M A MANGA FAN AS WELL BUT SPECIFICALLY THE YAOI SECTION BUT LAST LOVED BOOK IS THE ROAD AND EVEN WACKY ONES LIKE THE BRO CODE. I JUST LOVE BARNEYAND THAT CAN MAKE UP YESTERDAYS THEME THAT I FLEW THROUGH TOO QUICKLY CUS IM LIKING THE THAT THE STAGATE UNIVERS SERES AND LOVED BIG BANG THEORY AND A SUPER FAN OF V AND THE NOW OVER ZENA AND CHARMED. WHENEVER PLEASE HEAD FOR THE HARRY POTTERS MY FAVORITES WERE 3 4 5 AND I CIED SILLY AT THE END OF 6 SO GO HAVE TONS OF PAGE TURNING PURE PLEASURE
MERCY THOMPSON AND ANITA BLAKE ARE MY CURRENT LOVED CHARACTERS AND I VE BEEN BACK TO THE BASICSLIKE ROMEO AN JULIET AND JTHE JANE EYRE BOOKS; A STORY THA T RESEMBLES THE BOOK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT ID A FRENCH ONE ON A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT MEETS EACH OTHER ON A SPECIFIC SITE WHERE YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR A COLLECTIVE SUICIDE TRIP ON A BUS. ON THEIR JOURNEY THEY ALL DISCOVERD THAT LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL AND LEARNS TO EVEN WANT TO LOVE IT AND LIVE AGAIN
BOOKS ARE MY UNIVERS THAT MAKEUP RECENTLY BUT ANYWAY!
I READ AND LOVED ALL THE HARRY POTTER S BUT DIDNT FINISH THE LAST OF THE TWILIGHT SERIES. WHY? iSTOPPED BEFORE ALL THE REAL ACTION STARTED I SUPPOSE BUT I WAS SO PISSED ABOUT THE RENESMEY THING! HAAAA! HOW DARE SHE DO THIS TO MY JACOB? I CRIED SO HARD ANd STILL HAVEN T GOTTEN TO TOUCH THE D THING SINCE! SO LOVE VAMPY BOOKS AND YES I BUY LOTS OF BOOKS TO READ BUT NEVER GET TO ALL OF THEM DOWN IN ONE SHOT BUT I M GETTING THERE
lol! I totally do that! My friend will recommend a book, I'll buy it and it'll rot in my closet for a while. xD I actually finished one of the books yesterday, and started it the same day lol It was called "If I Stay"
i really want to finish twilight, i got halfway through the first one and i just stopped. and i really want to read la candy and sweet little lies too.
I love Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt's books, especially Oscar and the Lady in Pink and Monsieur Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran. Lately I've been reading Margit Sandemo.
I love The Twilight Saga, I've read it 13 times, and I'm 20...I loved Harry Potter too, I've reread that series about 5 times, honestly they are all enjoyable but book 4 really, REALLY picks up the series. Percy Jackson was a really good series too. I like reading series, I get attached to characters. Oh, also I really recommend Good In Bed by Jennifer Wiener, its not about what the title suggests, its about a bigger girl who's boyfriend publicly writes an article about her. Ahh its amazing. =]
OMG I did the video and I cant believe I forgot all about the Harry Potter books! Ahh They are definitely one of my all time favorite books besides the ones I mentioned in my video.
I loveee the Harry Potter books! But my favorite book by far (and the one I'm on a personal mission to get more people to read) is called The Book Thief. It's about a girl in the Holocaust, the narrator is death and it's difficult to explain. I can say how much I was affected by it after I finished it. try reading it!!
Its weird 'cause I'm an EXCELLENT reader but there arent many books out there that catch my attention. I've read the Twilight Saga, just like everyone else, & I LOVED them. My fav is Breaking Dawn ^_^ My absolute favorite book that Ive read is Memnoch The Devil by Anne Rice. Its part of the Vampire Chronicles. Thats the first book I read from the series and its my favorite. I recomend Boy Meets Boy by David Leviathan...I think. Anyway, its a REALLY good book. Plus, its not that long so YAY ^_^
hahaha i buy books and dont read them too! harry potter series is so good. they get better after like, the fourth one. haha. im also reading LA candy, the first vampire diares book, the last song, and a few others.
i read the whole Harry Potter series it took me 8 years lol but i finished them i started reading the first 4 in the 8th grade and just got done with the rest last august lol :) but i cheated i audio booked them i read along :) same thing right
My friend told me about that book; she also said it was a must read. I'd better check it out.
As for the Potter books, yes, I've read them all. They are some of my favorite books. The way I get through all the books is by making sure to finish each chapter I start no matter what. It's almost like a game because when you get to the end of a chapter you have to decided whether or not to find out what happens next or wait. Good luck finishing the series, I'll be starting it again soon. :D
:D! "Five People You Meet In Heaven" is the first book i picked up when i started reading on my own too. :) It's cool. And the movie make of it wasnt half bad.
Yes, the "5 people you will meet in heaven" is definitely a good book. I am reading the The girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's very interesting, can't put it down. Oh, I recommend "Perfection" really good book.
I've done all the mid-night release for Harry Potter and finished the books within the day I got them...I've repeated the series a couple times and will reread them before Nov. Good luck with finishing your collection lol. The five people you meet in heaven is a great book and movie!!!
I don't really have a favorite. The last book I read was Deathly Hallows around a year ago. The book that has stuck with me the most was called "A Child Called It". It was an autobiography of this guy who was brutally abused by his mother when he was a child.
I've read all the Harry potter books! I love them! I recently read eat pray love and liked that. Then I read the time travelers wife (before the movie came out). That was excellent.
i buy soo muchh boooks and bc im trying to finsih the twlight series since 200b btw bc i found new moon to be soo BORRINGGGG i finally finished it this weell took 2 years lol now im on eclipse
but im even buying more books next week

I love The Twilight Saga, I've read it 13 times, and I'm 20...I loved Harry Potter too, I've reread that series about 5 times, honestly they are all enjoyable but book 4 really, REALLY picks up the series. Percy Jackson was a really good series too. I like reading series, I get attached to characters. Oh, also I really recommend Good In Bed by Jennifer Wiener, its not about what the title suggests, its about a bigger girl who's boyfriend publicly writes an article about her. Ahh its amazing. =]

My boyfriend refuses to buy me more books until I finish reading the ones I have lol. I have a shelf full and they just sit there.
I love most books by Joyce Carol Oates and am currently reading one of hers.
I read the first Harry Potter book in Junior high about the time the first book came out, haven't bothered since then lol.

I don't really have a favorite. The last book I read was Deathly Hallows around a year ago. The book that has stuck with me the most was called "A Child Called It". It was an autobiography of this guy who was brutally abused by his mother when he was a child.
