David, you should install the SearchStatus extension for your Firefox tool bar. It gives you an option for it to automatically highlight in red nofollow links on a website. So when you check the comments section, If the anchor text is highlighted in red, then its mostly useless for link juice. You can do a search for Do Follow blogs.

Everything seems fine except the backlink theory. Only blogs that do not have the 'nofollow' on the sourcecode will quilify as a backlink. Otherwise the search engines will ignore the posted url.
