  • I think people who like calamari will enjoy this dish. I personally would make it without the hot pepper paste and use shrimp instead of squid. :)

  • morrissey is awesome!

  • that looks very very tasty

  • Start with little heat, then work slowly to more intense flavors. in most asian cultures heat is blanced by to elements so try it.

  • @pamuk7 lol, yeah, this is my first video recipe, so I did not know much about how to film and edit at that time. : )

  • Is there Hanja for Bulgogi?

  • Maangchi

I love you videos and your web site. I have learned so much from you. In your videos can you lower the back ground music, I have a difficult time hearing your voice.

  • Hi, nice video. I have a question.

I've had a korean dish very similar to this, but it had more sauce (red sauce with some kojujang i think, and pepper flakes), is this dish that I"m talking about the same as your video? Thanks so much!

  • @armil365riza I think so, add more hot pepper flakes in the recipe if you want.

  • @Maangchi Thanks. I remember it being like a squid stew.

  • Mmmm squid is really good if cooked properly if I can find fresh enough squid (Central United States Sucks!) I want to try to make this!

  • I like the way you cook this dish the best. One correction Maangchi: Squids do not have "legs", they have tenacles ;)

  • I love this korean dish!!! Thanks...!!

  • MAANGCHI!!! first of all I LOVE YOU!!! your so amazing!! i need your help, how do i cook dried squid for ANJU! my friends wanna have Mareun Ohjingoh with beer and everytime i cook it on the stove, it comes out hard and dry, i put it directly on the stove like my mom used to but mine comes out dry and hard, what do i do?!?!?

  • um um um umy I wish if I can eat it

  • mmmm mmmm delious!!

  • good taste in music :)

  • I love the O jing o bok eum. I would peel the squid skin off. It is very important to clean very carefully between the meat and the skin...I don't wanna mention why on here.... No KochuJang?....your smoke detector is just like mine...sensitive.

  • That looks great! Invite me for dinner!

  • Hi,

I want to make this , but I am not too sure about the "red stuff" in the sauce. Can I just use red pepper flakes. Thanx

  • The red paste is made with red pepper flakes as I showed in the video. Detailed written recipe is posted on my blog. Check it out. Thank you!

  • Thanks. What kind of chili powder did you use? I learned a lot from you! Keep up the good work. A filipina Grandma learning how to cook Korean:)

  • wow, grandma must be very intelligent and young. : ) You can access to your computer and get information. Anyway, check out my ingredient blog where you will see what kind of hot pepper flakes I am using.

  • Hi,

Can I just use the McCormick crushed red pepper? I really want my cooking like yours...you are awesome!

  • You will have to go to a Korean grocery store to get right ingredients.

  • I dont put my seaseme oil in the fridge. I just put it in the cabinet. Should I put it in the fridge?

  • I think so. That's a good question though. Anybody knows about it? Anyway I found this on the internet. I'm copying it and pasting it.

"All are best kept in the refrigerator, because they oxidize when exposed to heat and light. Oxidized oils taste rancid and may release free radicals, which are linked to many health risks. Chilled oils may become cloudy, but they'll clarify at room temperature."

  • you are so amazing! I love your shows. Even tho I dont eat meat, only seafood and veggies, my friends love it when I cook your meat dishes, especially Bulgogi. They don't know I got the recipe from you, I get the credits!(ssshhhh, dont tell) This stir fried squid is one of my favorite. You are a great insperation... you make me a better cook, thank you!

  • Actually this video was my first cooking video on YouTube, so you will hear some other noises rather than my voice. : )

    Thanks for poining it out.

  • The other noises are fine, it's the music that is too loud. It drowns your speaking voice out so much.
