  • AAAH! I LOVE this video!!!! My Dad's shop (Trinity Enterprise 3:10 - 3:12) was named after my mum!! i love Cape Coast and wish they never made me come to England :(( CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!

  • @Kennethab13 - good news friend, I will be back in Ghana in December, and will certainly be visiting Cape Coast again, so I will try to keep that in mind and be sure to video & photograph the place again for you.

No riots or fires in Cape Coast at present, unlike England, so it might be time for you to consider heading back !!

  • @Ghanapedia yaaaaay

and unfortunately im only 16 and tho i wish to go back so desperately, my parents wont really let me at this point :(

  • @Kennethab13 - hang in there buddy, before you will know it you will be 18 and able to go.

Cape Coast is a really cool spot, laid back, not stressful in any way, so I can see why people like it there.

  • that video really fascinates me,i would love to discover the streets of cape coast now :D

of course everything looks so different to europe and germany

but everything seems so more colourful in africa, people are very friendly

    cant wait to visit ghana

  • @dontobby89 - well that's the point isn't it........it doesn't look like where you are used to, so it makes it interesting. Ghana is a very colourful place, and the people are very friendly, so you are sure to have a great time when you go.

I will be covering more of Cape Coast when I return in December 2011 - February 2012, as this clip is nearly five years old now. Have been there since, but only stopped for a drink & rest because I was driving on to Takoradi.

  • there is no excuse for ghanians being that nasty and unclean. why don't they just clean up the area. it would be more attractive to buyers. cleaning does not take money. Just time from the people of the community. don't they know that this would attract tourist to stop and buy with them. but no body wants dirty goods. and this is what people think when they see the outside condition of these little businesses. ghana you have no more excuse. clean up your cities. you can't be that nasty

  • Hi Cocoaton,

Regarding your comment, I think that Ghanaians don't have the message drilled into them by clean up campaigns.

Things like public litter bins are rare around Accra. As an Obroni, I keep my rubbish in a plastic bag until I can get somewhere to dispose of it, because it is drilled into us not to litter, and I feel guilty in doing it......

Ghana needs a "clean up Ghana" campaign, and public bins, etc, to encourage people to act on it.....

  • new comers would stop to see what they have if their small hut shops just looked a little more invited. But it looks like a war zone. the people need to talk to each other. Ghana must have the most small business percentage according to ratio in africa. the people love and need business. but the people are not growing. this is the time of information systems. there is no excuse. many of them have email and access to internet. they can simply learn simply changes from images. there is no excuse

In this clip, there is roadside clutter from the stalls, etc, but even if there were shopfronts, these vendors do want to trade, but they need to have the means to rent them in the first place...

I guess they choose this practicality over beautification, which is unfortunate, but perhaps necessary for them...

Sure, these things are negatives, but Ghana is still a great place...

Canada & Oz are G20 countries, so different economies - so do cut Ghana a little slack !
