  • Jeff Smith has the most information you can actually learn from. Learn from his mastery, from controlling small lights setups in the studio & also learn from his vast experience of working with people who are over weight and the thin kind. He runs a studio where his customers are normal everyday people. This video presentation like most video presentations shows what can be achived. His books have given me keystone information that will be the basis of all my portrait & full length pictures.

  • Good info! Looks like you're at Woodward Park

  • Great video! When you mentioned the TTL flash you stated its used to fill shadows. So is it not okay to use the Speedlite TTL during the shoots that are in sunny bright areas with no trees. For instance is it okay to use Speedlite TTL flash mode for a beach photo shoot?

  • Great shooting my friend the girls look great:)

  • Hey jeff do you think as a photographerI should even bother getting external flash for my dlsr? or should I just light my environment another way always?

  • ummm not putting replys up

  • She has sexy legs :)

  • I too have the same problem u mention- I don't have an assistant to hold the reflector. The other option I have seen is using speedlights on stands with or w/o umbrellas.

  • Nice Video

  • What are the benefits from RAW images? From what I understand, a RAW image has not been processed by the camera. It is able to edited more. My D90 allows me to process RAW photos with the in camera editing. Afterwards, the RAW file turn into a JPEG. I feel like I am not getting the most out of RAW since I do not have any real photo editing software. So what all am I missing out on?

  • @davidg1024 The thing you need to know is that a RAW picture isn't compressed, which means that the photograph that you took still contains all the information. And because the photograph still contains all the information you have way more options in editing the photo afterwards without losing any quality to your picture. A JPEG is a compressed format and you don't have a lot of options when you edit it afterwards. You'll directly see loss of quality in your picture...

  • great tips! what type of reflector are you using here? (size, brand, etc.) thanks!

  • Jeff, I'm thinking this is woodward park in Fresno. I'm also a photographer from Fresno as well. Thank you for sharing.

  • thanks is very helpful...we would like to see some more thanks again...:)

  • Good information. Why 2 reflectors and not 1 though?

  • The size of the reflector, just like the size of a light box in the studio will change the characteristics of the light. Also we typically use the larger reflector when we are using the white side of the reflector. In addition a second reflector can act to block unwanted sunlight (gobo) without subtracting light like a black panel.

  • Great Video.
