@deanace777 Hoyt Axton plays a man who seems to be inherintly evil but Adam Cartright believes there's good in him. You can actually watch this on YouTube. Search for "Bonanza Dead and Gone Part 1". Someone uploaded it in 5 parts. youtube.com/watch?v=qJflEEc_dCM
They forgot something. After Adam leaves he sings " Now Adam don't you cross the law. Never ever cross the laaaaAAAw. Or you'll end up in. YAY you'll end up in. You'll end up in... yeah" I think he (Hoyt) is talking about jall or posibley hell.
This is one of my favourite Bonanza episodes. Thank you for sharing. Can anybody help me with the lyrics of this song? And what does Adam say at 0:24?
Adam says "Boy, you're lookin' to die" at 0:24. The look Hoyt gives him after that is masterful, as he keeps singing and adjusts his tone for the mood.
Here's my take on the lyrics, but could be a little off: Strongest of Oak is the gallows Tighest of knots is the noose Why oh why did I kill that man Now I'll never get loose Now I'll never get loose I've rode o'er hot, dry deserts And over mountains tall I believed in the bad land sayin' "A good gun never falls" "A good gun never falls"
If you have this episode of "Bonanza," and he and Adam "have a couple of good duets," then where the hell are they? Have you put them on? If so please advise on how to access them.
I haven't added any more of the duets. You can, however, watch the entire episode on YouTube. It's called "Dead & Gone". Just do a search for "Bonanza" and the title and you should see it come up in various parts and better quality than I have here.
I just watched this whole episode of Bonanza, it appears to me that he wrote this song for the episode since there's a little bit more to it where he mentions Adam.
I would wish there were still singers out there who could play anything like this. It is all too unfortunate that this American culture rather grasp onto shallow selfish meaningless things. What happened to having substance? ~Void~
GREAT singer, great show. I have often wondered if all the songs Hoyt sang in that episode were written just for that purpose as I've never been able to locate any of the rest of them elsewhere either (especially my personal favorite, 'Endless Road').
Hi am big Hoyt fan can you find his song thunder and lightning? the copy on Limewire has bad spyware nearly messed up my computer and love hoyts gritty pain filled style on Thunder and Lightening as much as I love his haunting voice on 500 miles ...thanks

I was watching Bonanza one day, and I heard him sing and immediately fell in love with his voice. I don't normally like country but I love this! :D
