@Carter106able You're half right but was not the case 4 years ago. This year Daylight Saving (DST) ends on Nov 7 (in the Fall). Winter starts on Dec 21.
While Daylight Saving starts up again on March 11 2011, Spring begins on March 20 2011. So in that case, yes technically you're correct.
The reason why the "Spring Forward" doesn't work anymore is because of the law that President Bush signed in 2005 which made DST start three weeks earlier and end one week later.

I do service calls in both time zones, the stupid time line zigzags all over the middle of Ky and TN and makes it a nightmare to schedule service call times. DST used to be 6 months, now it's 8 months - only 4 months of the year now is time by the sun.

Daylight savings time doesn't save anything. I never get use to it and I'm always pissed when it changes. So it doesn't put me in a good mood at all.

When I went to Tokyo one time I got back to California 6 hours before I left Japan. Time zones are fun.
I like your explanation for why we need DST the best. If you want to do it to get more daylight, get up earlier.
