  • @ShivaMahadevaaa This song "alaipayudhey" is in Tamil language please

  • @ShivaMahadevaaa This song is in Tamil!

  • @ShivaMahadevaaa Tamil

  • Filling of positive energy!!!!!!!

  • took me a good half n hour to byheart the lyrics. and it was worth it cz i have been singing this from past 3 months. such is the power of this song :) darbari kanada i guess.. lovely :)

  • @smithak15 it is carnatic kaanada (not to be confused with kaanada in hindustani). my understanding is that in the hindustani nomenclature, there isn't an exact equivalent, but a few are close.

i don't know which ones, but i have been told it is sahaana (not to be confused with the carnatic sahaana

which is very different) or huseni kaanada (again, not the carnatic huseni). funnily, carnatic and hindustani ragas with similar names are usually different rather than related :).

  • one of BEST classical songs on Krishna I've heard till today!!!

"Oh my Kanna, (Krishna/Beloved!), delight me by granting the place in your difficult heart, embrace mine, gift it sense & make it bloom like the ray of the sun that merges with the roaring waves of the ocean like the anklets in union make merry, -- I call you, with my heart wrenching cries, & You? --

Like the dancing foliage my mind laden with sorrow, wavers, my beloved, with your joyously mesmerizing Music!!

    (excerpt partly from @skayush)

    Captivating!!

    28thJAN11'

  • Delight me by granting the place in your difficult heart, embrace mine, gift it sense and make it bloom like the ray of the sun that merges with the roaring waves of the ocean like the anklets in union, make merry I call you thus with my heart wrenching cries and you, you revel with other women. Is this right? Is it proper? Is it at all just? While the flute plays, like the dancing foliage my mind laden with sorrow wavers, my kanna, it wavers with your joyously bewitching song -
  • My mind wavers, O! Kanna, the joyous bewitching song of your flute. my mind wavers, O! Kanna! with your entrancing song An unmoving statue I stand time flies by and I know it not Muraleedhara, the unknowable my mind wavers The clear moon blazes as a noon sun my eyebrows arch, searching the horizon the breeze brings your ripe melody and my eyes dizzy, i feel strange

One of the master piece composition bt Oothukadu Venkata kavi, Composed some 300 plus years ago

  • super song...

  • lol

  • GREAT,I LOVED IT

  • THIS IS AWESOME

  • CD (from the movie Alai Payuthe) says lyrics by Othukaadu Venkatasubbu Iyer, and sung by Kalyani Menon, Harini, and Neyveli Ramalakshmi. This is an incredibly beautiful song, always brings me to tears with the soul inspiring lyrics and melody. I have heard other versions, but this remix by A.R.Rahman is the one for me!

  • it is the most graceful song ever to be heard

  • This is Anuradha's song of love, the melodic yearnings of her heart for the flirtatious cowherd. The tempestuous waves of her mind can only be appeased by Krishna's reciprocal love.

  • insanely romantic lyrics....so beautiful

  • alaipayuthey kanna en manam alaipaayuthey un aanantha moagana venu gaanam athil alaipayuthey kannaa....

  • @mrmeh6969 kalyani menon..

  • Thanks1 You got the work done. Good. Keep it up.

  • 2:51 Nice Picture

  • I love this!!!

  • This is a Othukaadu Venkata Subbaiyer Song, tuned in Kaanada Pann and set in Adi Thaalam. This is one of the songs which pulled me into the deep ocean of Tamil Isai at the age of 6.

  • IA M KERALITE.I cant understand why tamilians and north indians have to fight always on each and every subject. North Indians had a tough time throughout history due to their geography. Had to go through hundreds of foreign invasions including Muslims. For god sake understand that they acted as a buffer in protecting south india as a buffer. This provided the entire south an oppurtunity to concentrate on artististic aspects. Do you guys know Aurangazeb abolished music and other art forms?

  • Dear Sandeep, Aurangazeb has also alloted funds to manage Hindu Mutts and other religious establishments. Not sure he banned music, may be he was upset with the Hindustani style of singing as it is so sobre and invokes boredom. Also most singers sung under the influence of alcohol behind the screen in the courts of Moguls. Reasons are many! As you rightly said, one need not fight over these things. We should enjoy the style of music which we love, irrespective of where they are from.

  • @Chempadu123 , I am happy to see that you agree with me on avoiding these kind of petty fights. But for me Aurangazeb is the incarnation of devil himself. If you are interested please go through the article on wikipedia about that monster. Particularly the legacy section. He was the man who created the rift between hindus and muslims. He banned all kinds of music not just hindustani. Reason is that music is unislamic. He can be called as the forefather of taliban.

  • thanks @ Omshaantih for eleborate words in english .....thanks again @ thanks Dino 20 for sharing this Heart touching bhajan,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Happy JanamAShtmi....to all

Mind sharing ur mail id, so that I can mail u the translation?

  • @infy1808 & Saravanan

In no other language I know, I heard such a melodious devotional song on Lord Krishna. I may not be Tamilian but I have reverence for Tamil culture and their contributions to arts, architecture and linguistics. The temples of TN are so great they stand symbols of Hindu achievement. But for these great temples of Tamil Nadu, I would not accept Hindus knew any architecture. The Cholan idols are such eternal beauty, I have deep fascination for that style. Thanks

  • infy1808

All Indians shall be proud of the Tamils contributions especially since the North India has virtually nothing to show case such level of architectural achievements as the ever great Raja Raja Cholan. He is Indian equivalent of Ramses II of Egypt..

  • @infy1808 can u pls post the translation here ...

  • Come! Mould my tender heart, make it full and fill me with joy! Come! take me to a lonely grove and fill me with the emotions of ecstatic union!

You are the one who danced and made merry on the sun-bathed waves of the ocean!

Am I to go on pleading for you with melting heart, While you are enjoying yourself with other women? Is it right? Is it proper? Is it what dharma is? My heart dances even like your eardrops do when you blissfully play the flute! (My sad heart is all aflutter)

I well-n-truly appreciate ur comment. Fantastic. For the benefit of ppl. like u, I wish to share the translation of the lyrics. If u dont mind, pl. post ur mail id and I shall mail u the English translation of the lyrics..

  • Hi thapilent, I am Saravanan from Tamilnadu. I would like to thank you for praising my mother tongue Tamil.

  • @thapilent

    you are a fake!

only a Tamilian would understand the beauty of the song. your claim of being foreign to tamil is in variance with your appreciation of the song.

  • "My mind has become like a wave after listening to you(Krishna) playing the flute"

  • I can't understand any Indian language. Still the devotional quality shines through. I love carnatic music.

  • dashat song babe!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • what a nice song. thanks to youtube for giving us a good devotional song. i loved all your songs and also prays you to add more songs like this. with best regards.

  • cool song

  • i love this song very much

  • My heart flutters, Lord, the haunting joy of your flute in which my heart flutters (repeat) I stand rooted like a statue, not knowing the passage of time, Muraleedhara, the unknowable my heart flutters The clear moon blazes as a noon sun my eyebrows arch, searching all directions the breeze brings your ripe melody and my eyes hypnotized, a strange feeling overcomes me Delight me by granting a place in your immeasurable heart, in a private garden, fill me with sensation and grant me salvation
  • Exactly what I wanted! Thanks a lot for posting this. You are right..some translations I hit didn't quite seem to match the song...especially the "like the ray of the sun that merges..." sentences.

You know..whenever I used to hear any devotional songs I wished to learn that language. For e.g., I wanted to understand Rajasthani just for appreciating MeeraBai's poems.

But with people like you around, I guess I need not worry :-)

    Thanks again!

  • i understand the sentiment. i ve been learning a bit of classical telugu for the same reasons. but I m sue we wont have problems, there are enough music lovers to spread the word
