Just to explicate something about this reconding, Toscanini conducted the "Inno delle nazioni" of Giuseppe Verdi, inserting some national anthems (not in the Verdi's partiture of course). At the time of this recording the official anthem of Soviet Union was the "internazionale". Just in that time the USSR hymn changed, but just before this recording. You can listen the music of that hymn in the actual Russian Anthem, with changed words.
