@kenmerk Let's hope so. One of the reasons that all divers have to sign as many petitions against shark fin soup and shark finning that come their way. I was in the Taiwanese dry goods market the other day and was appalled to see literally thousands of dried fins for sale. Very sad, if we destroy this magnificent animal for a bowl of soup we (mankind) are all in big trouble.

How deep were you on this dive?

@cavalieriart The season for the hammerheads is Winter only, i.e. January and February. They disappear about the end of February or early March. Plenty of other good diving to be had on Green Island. The dive is to about 30 meters. I go almost every year in Winter so if you will be back in Taiwan next year and have a few days to spare drop me a line. I always go at Chinese new year.

Wow, Andy - AMAZING! I'd love to do this dive. I've travelled to GI twice before, especially for the sharks, but the weather never played along and the dives were called off. I'm so jealous right now! :-P

@Dyllos, Yes, I lead dive trips over to Orchid Island once or twice every year, my next trip will be April 2nd~5th I might do another in June. The visibility on Orchid is tremendous 40m~50m+ all year round & the topside is very laid back & beautiful. Unfortunately both Green and Orchid are losing many of their food fish to overfishing but the coral life is amazing. Taiwan needs to create marine parks on both islands & curtail overfishing before it is too late.

yes, am based in Taiwan. Still have to edit and post my videos from Green Island when i went last May - hope to soon. Yes, incredible viz and the macro diving from the disused harbours is pretty great..

Have you been to Orchid Island? It is supposed to be even better than Green Island...

@dyllos7 Hi there, we did 3 days of diving on the hammerheads 4 dives in all, the rest of the dives were off White beach at the Pinnacles and on the Iron triangle. We also did a bunch of shore dives. Are you resident in Taiwan? We had about 30m vis on the shark dives and between 20~30m on the shore dives.

Absolutely spectacular! Watching these hammerhead sharks just reminds you of how majestic and powerful these animals really are. There is an almost effortless strength to them. It's awesome!
