  • @evonallen

I'll have 1 large coke, and some small fries please sir.

  • Tavis Smiley = moron

    Trent Reznor = genius

  • his vocabulary isn't impressive, people.

  • anyone who sits in a suit, talks softly and looks like they just downed 5 sleeping pills and use a few different terms for common words or talk about how success was scary, etc., can seem "smart" or "intellectual" or "deep". Trent is about as engaging and believable as the kid in the movie social network. That's not very.

  • @evonallen also don't forget the standard but always effective long pause between words while making that smacking sound when you open your mouth again.

  • @evonallen lol he didnt do this interview to prove is intellectual worth! ever thought of that? dude is simply talking about his career and the score he did for a film. damn people are cynical these days.

  • What a great interview by a great artist. Trent is an amazing musician and a great role model for any musician regardless of genre. He deserves all the success he gets.. and then some.

  • Did the interviewer just say "All the Sex-ess that you had?" XD

  • just make me anew album ... pls

  • He was going to do the Music For DooM 3 , I never forget that. Because at that time I was a huge DooM fan and also Trent Reznor Fan. To me this was going to be a great get together. , Two worlds I loved at the time coming together. Also DooM 3 was a game that burned out a lot of PC's at that time. However Trent backed out, and my heart fail out. I am glad to see that he stuck to this one. :)

Thanks Trent for inspiring me over the years. Helping me get passed my own fears also, God bless.

  • I painted to this. He's so smart.

  • @ReeceJackson I dont see that at all

  • @b24harman whoaaaaaaaaaaaa there mr racey racer

  • More like "how'd he get pulled-in" to an interview with dumb-ass Tavis Smiley! WOW!

  • Listening to this interview while playing Even Deeper-NIN in the background= pure gold

  • lol 9:40... he totally laughed at his own joke

  • CYNICAL . . . Trent cynically explained the music situation.

  • Seichinha...I like you comment a lot!

  • Trent Reznor is amazing creative artist and without any doubt one of the best ever. His the one that i admired most from years ago.

Trent with NIN did and do make part of my life. They help me to face, feel and dell with my most deep feelings and intense emotions... and i am really grateful to all his art.

    Trent Reznor and NIN forever.

  • Trent and David are really working hard together. Good news for us! :) Tavis is a lucky guy, I'd be honored to have just a 5 minute discussion with Trent, I want to ask about Year Zero.

  • No Inch Neck

  • Trent Reznor has gained a lot of weight since this interview, and that was just a year ago. I think the marriage, no longer being on tour with Nine Inch Nails, and working at his home studio working on scores for David Fincher has made him a stay-at-home eating dad.

  • I'm proud of Trent for his sobriety and i think he's making the right decisions with his career.

The industry desperately needs creative talent for film scoring fight now.

When i first heard the Quake soundtrack and Lost Highway I knew back then that films is really where Trent needs to be. NIN is his legacy but its nice to see creative types like Trent venture off into different things. thats the mark of a talented artist.

  • since when is winning an oscar for making music selling out?

  • @SuperRedeyedtreefrog

He's a small guy, and packed with muscles, in a suit he may seems fat to you, it's okay, but the fact that you accuse him of being a sell out with only this argument regarding his looks, tells a lot about you. And it really seems to me that with an attitude like this you seem like someone who would actually love "sell out" media

  • <3 i met Trent when he was a little peck of a fellow. He has filled out quite nicely, physically and surprisingly even MORESO than he already was, mentally :)

  • @SuperRedeyedtreefrog P.S. you should see manson now, our musicians tend seem ageless because we only ever see them usually in things that have already been filmed as the years go by they're aging just like everybody else even though we tend to pedestal them to this super-human larger than life status. they're only human give em a break.

  • "My day job... NIN..." LOL

  • This man is too serious...Respect Mr. Reznor

  • @SuperRedeyedtreefrog I disagree. He's just growing up. If you listen to the music you'll see there's absolutely no selling out going on. He's just mature. Selling Out would be him writing "The Downward Spiral II: Even Downwarder"

  • @bobbeckishere

I agree, he definitely hasn't sold out. Particularly when he promotes people to 'steal his records' while on stage. I think the only bad work this guy has ever really done is Year Zero. That was terrible.

  • Let it be known...Trent Reznor is God.

  • he has always been very well spoken. kudos to tr

  • This is a great interview of a great man.

  • This man shows our true strengths, go bull brother!!!

  • Sometimes we are made as our own worst enemy... just the way it is

  • 6:54 "What have I become? My Sweetest Friend......."

  • How to Destroy Angels is a testament to how far Trent has come with production.

  • Excellence + Genius = Reznor.

  • I hate it when people kiss Trent's ass.

  • @Bostonian91 sorry you have nothing worth being praised over. Sorry you have no real or heartfelt musical talent, and you are not the creator of one of the greatest metal bands ever made...I'm sorry you're nothing.

  • @coldstaind91... i don't know why i'm even gonna bother replying to such an ignorant comment but here goes nothing... the man is very talented, but people need to get a grip when they say things like "oh we love you trent, you've had such a rough life" etc... when he's actually a very priveliged man compared to many people in this world. And yes you're right, as a nihilist, i strongly feel that i am nothing, and will never amount to anything worth while, but i'm gonna have a good go.

  • @Bostonian91 I'm a nihilist and a nothing too. But it's perfectly fine to praise someone (with actual extensive music talent & a smart personality) like Trent Reznor. I've listened to NIN for about 4-5 years now & there are some people who've listened to him all their lives since '89. That kind of love for Trent, I can only fathom...but as a music listener, I fucking love Trent Reznor. Not in a "let's-bang-and-get-married" way, but "thank-you-for-making-the- pain easing-music-that you-make" way

  • What an insightful natural and easy interview to watch. Trent has come such a long way as an artist and a human being. It thrills me as a long time fan to be able to see Trent smile with enthusiasm for his future and be able to look back on his accomplishments with honesty and perspective. The best interview I have ever seen with Mr. Reznor. Great interviewer too!

  • I wish David would call me to be in a movie. I wish Trent could help me redo my Dreams On The Steps Of A Church cd.

  • "fear" and "not feeling enough", it spells alcoholism. I couldn't imagen how hard it would have been to get sober for Trent.

  • The dude is an inspiration. Spiritually, creatively, emotionally. We need more people like him.

  • nice interview. I was a little hardcore dink at 14 when The DWS was released, and I don't feel as bad for growing up seeing that Trent did too. Saw NiN in 2009, felt old there, feel better watching this :-D

  • 3 Guys are in a bar.

One of them says: I have the shortest arms in the world.

The other one says: I have the shortest legs in the world.

The third guy says: I have the shortest neck in the world..

so they decide to go to the office of the guinness book of records.

The first guy comes out and says: Yes! I do have the longest arms.

The second guy comes out and says: Great! I do have the longest legs.

The third guy comes out pretty angry and says:

WHO THE FUCK IS TRENT REZNOR?!

  • @HornyOfficial there is no continuity to your joke. next time use you brain if you can

  • that little shadow under his nose makes him look like hitler :o

  • @kutcharaninfan Crap it does doesn't it. Hail Trent!

  • Trent is my favorite person ever.

  • Trent's vocabulary is astounding.

  • I want Trent Reznor

  • He uses tons of colloquialisms like "arm chair analyze"

  • Trent, wow, i love you so open and honest. Anyways, you have no reason to underconfident... you're talented and that's why im nin-obsessed :)

  • Good answers to good questions. It's always a pleasure to witness intelligent conversation; and you can tell Trent appreciates it himself.

  • I really look up to Trent. Especially at about 4:30. That amazes me that he is now able to have the hindsight to say "It was fear." The fact that he can look back on his life like that. He's not just some dude who screams his lyrics and plays his loud music in a band. He's a man who is really in touch with his feelings and past experiences. Respectable.

  • @GuyInLove7 It is indeed

  • @GuyInLove7 - I could not agree more! Well said both by yourself and Trent

  • This interviewer sounds like an idiot, but is actually asking some of the best questions i've ever heared anyone put to T.R. It seems like he is actually interested in what he has to say, rather than just churning out shit he's read from a press pack 5 minutes before the show.

  • @redhorserainbow Yeah, Tavis does *sound* like an idiot, but he's actually not at all. He just has a dopey sounding voice, though he always conducts top notch interviews and digs into REAL subject matter, he's not concerend merely with who is banging whom.

  • @fullclip16117 does he?! seriously i don't really get that

  • well to be honest, much of the film is what it is thanks to the original score. Congrats Trent, you earned it :)

  • the only man i would bow to on earth. he truly is a genius

  • @tonyrosam i wouldn't b/c he'd try to butt fuck you.

  • @tattoosjohn69 no he wouldn't--he'd be too busy stomping on idiots like you with his massive talent.

  • I saw on nin.com that this was scheduled and recorded the wrong time slot >:/

    Thank you so much!!!

  • True what you said

  • who the fuck is tavis mailey. whens this show come on, at like 3 in the morning? trent deserves better.

  • @MacDaddyPooty not really. prince was on this show in april, and trent has said many times that he idolizes prince's musical ability. so to trent? i don't think this is low - class or whatever you're trying to say.

  • @loyalqueen yea nvmd im an idiot. apparently this show is quite prestigious. it doesnt air in canada so i had no clue who tavis smiley was.

  • thanks for uploading this! hes the greatest!!!
