I don't see why everyone's hating on Shia LaBeouf. In my opinion he's a charismatic, talented actor who's proven himself a box-office hit when it comes to playing likeable characters. I'd also point out that his movie career has already surpassed Charlie Sheen's, and that nobody in their right mind -- you included, haters -- would turn down a starring role in a multi-million dollar special effects blockbuster like Transformers to preserve their credibility as an actor's act-or.

Kind of emphasizes that people never change. Gordon may have renounced his wall street practices, but he is still only thinking of what will benefit him. Greed is a very overpowering emotion.

@995sunglasses You're right, I share the same opinion, Shia LaBeouf isn't a good actor, he's just some guy who knows how to read lines. If this movie turns out to fail, which I think it might (seeing how great the first one was) it will in part be because of a wrong choice of actors. These people are not "hollywood" actors and in my view, unless they gain maturity throughout the years, they'll just end up being forgotten.

Winnie and Rudy were too young to remember when Gordon went to prison. Winnie had no idea what type of man gordon was, and I doubt that rudy would have committed suicide over a man he never met or remembered seeing that he was just a baby in the first movie. So the character timeline sucks, but I'm still going to see it.
