  • Ever found any old "Shanks" pans? I remember one at a Great Aunt's...a late 1950s with High Level flush. Waterhole and flush noise remarkably like a 1970s/80s Magnia but the outside of the pan had old fashioned decoration. House has now been sold though.

Richard, I have indeed! Two years back I found a Shanks pan with a high level twisted pipe Shires Lynx, and more recently I found a Vitramid with a low level Shanks cistern. I've also filmed a Shanks '2 Gal. Levern' high level cistern at an old art centre in Stroud, Gloucestershire. They're all in my channel.

  • @armitageshires Great thanks! I also had a friend when I was young who had a low level Shanks which was quite unusual (for a low level rather than close coupled) as it had a Box Rim and (I think) had a syphonic trap. The seperate bathroom was also Shanks but in Blue (the height of luxury when the house was built in the 1950s). Sadly the toilet cistern broke and they replaced with an 80s beige washdown Ideal Standard. But the bathroom remained.

  • Exactly like the one I filmed.
