The war will be over someday. Grandpa Clarence Jones sings tribute to our fighting men and women serving over there in Iraq and Afghanistan. His tribute is on YouTube. "Families, keep your faith in the Good Lord. The war will be over soon. My family worried about me when I served at the Battle of the Bulge 1944 with the 9th Armored. This is no different, but, maybe a lot tougher. House to house fighting is the toughest fighting. Keep faith with the Lord.
PULL THE TROOPS OUT!! Bush,Tony Blair and their war architects should face INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTUCE for lying, invasion of a sovereign country without approval of UN and killing innocent lives. They should face justice exactly like Saddam Hussein.
If the Army found out that Mossad and not Iraq was behing September 11 and the Yellowcake/Niger thing.... do you think they would revolt against Bush? Doubt it, but they would at least leave the army don't you think?
We should do more than just pay attention to the war.
We need to also take responsibility for it, as U.S. citizens, by forcing our government (which is supposed to represent us, as in "We, the People"), to listen to us.
We must get our country out of a war we shouldn't be in.
that makes no sense, my name is a sequence of letters from the "home keys" where typing fingers originally rest on a keyboard. the other person's username shows a racist term by using some numbers that look like letters. look again and you should see what im talking about.
Folks, this is the best argument for why we need to get out of Iraq:
MOST IRAQIS HATE US! No, hate is too weak a word. MOST IRAQIS WANT US DEAD! In a new joint ABC/BBC/NHK (Japanese tv) poll 57% of Iraqis support attacks on the troops. When you break it down 93% of Sunnis (93%!), 50% of Shiites, and 5% of Kurds support attacks on our troops. When a majority of the people you are trying to help want you dead it is time to LEAVE. Only a complete lunatic would think otherwise.
The Bush's Carlyle Group plus their large stake in Halliburton through Halliburton's purchase of the Bush family's Dresser Industries are earning $ Billions off the war.
"Stay the course" means "keep up family profits."
How long are we going to let our neighbors, friends and family die in Iraq so Bush and Cheney can make more money?
US families pay the price...the Bush family earns the profits.
The Bush's Carlyle Group is not only making $ Billions through their military contracts, they've bought Manor Care so they can make profits off the troops they've turned into invalids.
americahaters think its candyland over here... vets are living in tha parks and subways, what he said about money is bullshit, they money is "borrowed" from our federal reserve which just prints some more and devalues the hell out of our money and then charges us interes on it through ridiculous income taxes that do nothing for us... believe me americans know we're getting fuckd
it is now clear that there is something sinister going on behind the scenes. ever heard of the illuminati. cmon guys 450 billion just for iraq? this is proof that illuminati run the country as well as others
i dont care how much of a conservative or patriot anyone is the numbers dont lie 450 billion to kill iraqis while 10 billion can feed the entire continent of Africa
agreed, its just ridiculous to spend so much money on death that will only bring more death. that money could be spent to pay reparations around the world for american terrorism and to address the concerns of those who would seek to harm the US; this is the only way for "security" for the US, and the entire world.
im sorry but the numbers dont lie. it is now a fact that world hunger and third world debt was created on purpose. 450 billion for a war?? but not a single cent goes to the starving people in the third world
I follow the war. I protested the invasion before it happened, marched in a demonstration 100 thousand strong in sanantonio texas on martin luther king day 03, and we all know how well that was listened to. The american people are disgusted with what's being done in our name, but we're at a loss as to what to do agbout it. We've voted, we've protested, we've written letters, and what we get in return are more coffins.
The U.S. government is borrowing money from whom to pay for the war in Iraq? The newscaster does not inform us about who is really paying for the U.S government so-called "conflicts." Exactly how is war funded if U.S. citizens are not footing the bill; who is? (This to me is very disturbing.)
china buying up US bonds and driving up US public debt. its only a matter of time until totalitarian private firms are going to be allowed to step in buy out the public sector. they will claim that this removing inefficiency, but the truth is that all the taxpayer money that goes to private companies and military spending for imperial wars dwarfs any remaining social programs the US has left.
the inefficiency in government spending stems from these huge subsidies that go to fortune 500 companies at the expense of the taxpayer. US taxpayers payed for the development of modern computers and nasa, then when it turns profitable they privatize it for aristocratic profit. we foot the bill for development and they get the return.
thats 450$ billion a month, and if its peanuts in a multi-trillion dollar corporate run economy then why are the corporations profiting from the war not paying for it, while the national debt is skyrocketing?
oops, heard it wrong, regardless its a huge waste of money that costs millions daily, can only make the US less secure; the principle still remains, why should the US public foot a bill for a war that the majority of americans opposse, while the ones who profit from it send us the bill? care to make an argument, or are you content with childish name calling?
I can assure you that MANY citizens of the United States are demanding more information about the war. However, when the large media corporations are bowing to the whims of the president, when votes are not counted, and when people will not take their protest to the streets, there is no motivation for those in power to pay attention to the rest of the population.
You guys are exactly right. Even as an American myself, from day one I've had a very similar opinion to what's being expressed here. Of course our news media shows almost nothing of the suffering of the Iraqi citizens. By comparison, any suffering by U.S. families can't even qualify as a drop in the bucket.
USA is illegal in Iraq, and this is their end, like every empire has an end, they also have their end. End of USA = End of ISrael = ISlamisation of Middle East. SalawatAllah ala Muhammad !
More like = the complete destruction of the Middle east. Enjoy the combination of a nuclear fallout which would be the result of the Israel's demise and the water shortage coming due to global warming.
end, not necissarily complete destruction.. and if anyone is going to be responsible for driving up tensions into global nuclear fallout, its going to be the world's biggest threat: the US regime.
I DO want to follow the war in the news, and I DO want to do something! But what? I vote, I speak my opinion, what else can I do? I would never in a million years even consider supporting terrorism - that is not the answer. I feel that the insulation of Americans is a deliberate ploy to keep us from getting involved democratically.
What I don't like about this report is that it portrays American families too much as victims. These people are not paying any "price". They chose to serve in the military and that was their mistake. I realize that is harsh of me to say, but it's the awful truth.
The people that REALLY pay the price are the Iraqi families, not the American ones!
Yeah I agree. The media only brings up the Iraqis when it suits them, politicians only talk about them to use them in a political argument. No one in America cares about them. Heck only the families themselves care about the dead soldiers. Everyone else wants to buy the next Ipod.
no one in america cares about them, you're sooooo right. not the people involved in operation human shield. not any of the americans who worked to try and stop the embargo and went against their government to bring medicine and other supplies over during the clinton era. not any of the americans of iraqi descent.
This is not true. I care and so do many other Americans. We are writing letters, making phone calls, protesting, donating money and supplies, but you never hear about it on the news because the major media corporations will not cover it or show it on their networks. We are trying, but the citizens do not hold the money nor the power.
Thank you, I wanted to say something very similar. The death of soldiers is terrible, though on a relative scale, it's really not that bad. The death of a few thousand soldiers and the hardships it brings upon their families and friends is nothing compared to the destruction of an entire country.
that is true, but aljazeera's goal is to try and give an overall view of what's going on, so it is an important piece of the puzzle. it's good to think of this piece in context of all their coverage on the subject.
