  • Not to mention that to this day they're animals who send little children into war and engage in cannibalism in order to gain the strength of those who they've eaten and people are always bitching about slavery it is history nobody alive today has suffered it like back then and I'm glad to see their white Jewish counterparts making money talk about a group who has really suffered for thousands of years and actually have people alive who experienced the horrors of holocaust

  • @b0red2t3ars fact is that those captured slaves were from the inland and were captured from African kings goons that were from tribes on the coast and while I'm totally against slavery and totally believe it was a horrid thing to happen the whites just bought and sold them never captured them they never even went inland for slaves they only bought them from rich african kings on the coast so the whites aren't the only ones to blame they sold their brothers into the nightmare that was slavery an

  • 30 cents and a cup of rice for an all day work? where are the african revolutionaries to follow the french model of revolution?

  • fact or faked!

  • brb, going to tiffany's

  • America's confederate states are most villified for black slavery.

It's an unsettling truth that Africans were (and as we see still are) enslaving each other.

  • @Menuki and their white jewish counterparts benefit the most from the slavery...in other words not much has changed. and the confederate states have damn well earned their "vilified" status the horrific abuse they inflicted on captured africans is well documented. educate yourself...and please don't ever say things that like in public.

  • Rose growing left 20 years ago where I worked in green houses for a couple of summers. Paid minimum wage, Colombia was beating that to where USA greenhouse growing wasn't profitable. Company distributes Colombia roses now, 80 year old greenhouses are empty. Chemical exposure is safe.

  • the earth is filled with riches. it is also filled with greed.

  • @MapleSephiroth I sadly agree :(

  • If I had the money, I would invest in building a proper company for these people to work at. A modern facility that has safe working conditions, pays proper wages ($'s an hour), even has shuttle buses for the workers that live farther away. It'd still turn a profit, and the workers would be getting a bigger slice.

As a byproduct, other businesses would be needed, such as construction, transportation, grocery stores, heath services, etc.

It might be a pipe dream...but it might work.

  • @acronus very kind idea! That would be much more appropriate and more helpful than spending on war in middle-east! Those people need help so badly

  • Idk about you guys but that vanguard reporter is sexy

  • It's that cheap to produce bouquets!??! I ain't never buying roses EVER!

  • You guys need to understand that it's just how humans work. There are greedy people, nice people, mean people, and sad people. Greedy people are rich, nice people are humble, mean people purposely hurt other people for their own gain, and sad people live in poverty. Jesus christ guys, it's going to be this way for as long as humans exist.

  • I love the Tupac poster in the Miner's bedroom.

  • No more consumer holidays.

  • At least they make a decent income for laborer $7-7.50 for labor. Not that much lower then in the states.

  • @chicagoblast it's per day not per hour. per day means 7 am till midnight. that's 7 hours left for your own life to live/sleep/eat. and that's 7 days a week 365 days a year. maybe it's a holiday on new years day. still just a little lower than the states right?

  • this is why proflowers can sell roses for 39.99 for v-day. I always buy from a local who uses domestic product.

  • WOW, I had no idea that a lot of our roses came from there and what people went through for our roses that we buy. I knew already about the diamonds, that's why you should always be careful when buying them and ask for the papers showing where it came from.

  • current go back to posting full episodes

  • 24:30 - 25:16... so beautifully and tragically poignant

  • Such an innocent industry can have such shady business tactics

  • i hope people watching this don't think any of this is of any fault of theirs. the companies and governments involved are to blame for the imbalance of wealth distribution. people who buy these roses and diamonds are also the victims of coperate and government greed. even in the US where people are more well off the same thing is happening. the people who do all the hard work are the ones making the least amount of money and respect.

  • I think the producers' intentions were good, but the flowers part was retarded on so many levels. The diamond part was a lot better, in fact they could've devoted the whole episode to that alone.

  • Time to vote against this with your wallet. Get fair trade certified flowers!

    Google transfairusa org

  • pity them..wish i could help but i cant..who am i..i just a caring ppl who feel for them

  • money is the most addictive drug in the world.

  • that columbian girl is fine

  • This world is sickening and has fallen ill. The disease is purely human...

  • vangaurd current all these documentary are exaggerations for the most corrupt in the world USA

  • So, they flew from Bogota to Medellin for what reason again? To take a ten-second snippet from the toxicology guy? Kind of unnecessary if you ask me. They spent so much time telling you about their transportation there and a little history of the city, then just left.

  • it's tupac!!!

  • Every system has a front. At the base of [[ all ]] things is slavery.

  • it's easy to just watch this and say "Oh how shameful, How sad" the real question is what are you gonna do about it?

Now that we know. what are we going to do to help this?

  • @therealorberon nothing

  • this breaks my heart..its shameful that another human can exploit another withouth feeling ashamed or guilty..greed really blinds people

  • Hey man millions of oppressed Africans and the deaths of hundreds of thousands of children is totally worth a bouquet of roses to tell my girl that I appreciate her!

  • nurse anesthetists at my hospital work 24 hour shifts (with no sleep) and i have meet residents who have worked shifts as long as 2 weeks! so idk what the flower girls were crying so much about.. and the look on the girls face when they said that a dozen roses sold for 50 bucks was #EPIC

  • @mellowdalyricist Because they risk getting severely ill or dying while picking up the flowers, and only get paid 7.50$ a day. Nurse anesthethits get more money in a week than they do in a year. What would you prefer? Work 24 hour shifts once in a while and get paid, or risking your life for a measly 7.50 a day?

  • as the other niggers ! lol 20:02

  • @juan88manuel she said diggers

  • 7:06 you GOT WTF'd lady

  • I just want to say that the first step for you, the person reading this comment, to fix all these worldwide issues is to simply strive to live by PLUR: Peace, Love, Unity, and Responsibility. Alone, we cannot solve this problem, but together, we can change the world.

  • @jaeminseo good idea but its a looong way..

  • love vanguard but that intro was painfully cheesy

  • What Randy below me said. Gaurntee if all these miners just quit and said they demand a higher wage and no1 else accepted jobs from them, they wont wanna mine all that themselves. They would offer them more to keep workin!

  • The reporter Jael de Pardo is absolutely gorgeous! It made watching the first half of this program that much easier.

  • @Xenda I was caught by her as well.

  • i really don't like this yoplait commercials. everytime I try to watch any vanguard shows, it's on. either that or Sony commercial with Taylor Swift. annoying.

  • Not good journalism. Really pushing one view and not showing whole picture. You stop buying roses, these people starve. Workers need to unionize just like America in the beginning, before they became corrupted. Finally. until corrupt governments overthrown. nothing will change.

  • unions are legal theives... they need to be shot.

  • Labor IS a commodity. Employers will always pay the minimum required for an employee to "show up" and do the job. Suppose you make $18 per hour and your employer announces that, beginning next month your pay will be $9 per hour. That's a 50% pay cut. If you continue to show up and do the job then why would he pay you more than $9 per hour? These people are not slaves but they sell their Labor (a commodity) cheap. Unless they organize, or just quit they will continue to do what they do...

  • some Columbian woman are just absolutely GORGEOUS without makeup or fancy hair

I want a beautiful columbian woman

  • 2 PAC

  • Ghetto! The USA needs to buy locally and STOP depressing USA wages and displacing USA workers.

The USA should not be dependent on 3rd world labor and products!

    But American made, damn it!

  • LaRazaRacism, the problem is that most americans wont work for a dollar a day,so the big corporations go to 3rd world countries to look for cheap labor.

  • Comment removed

  • i come from colombia and live in austria , bogota its not that way they always show the worst part......

  • of course not, and most people realize this... it's called journalism, and if you've ever watched vanguard, you know that this is the style and approach they take.

  • And my girlfriend wonders why I don't buy her roses or diamonds, I stick to chocolates, I have to show her this video.

  • It may be becasue blood diamond was a movie, mabey a trade marked name?

  • This world sucks

  • @nartin86 then fix it.

  • @nartin86 u suck

  • @nartin86 which one is better ??

people like you make the world suck because you wont do anything against it downsides .

  • ya, this world sucks, but if we make more money in 1 minute, then they do in 1 day, why arnt we doing anything to help them? i mean, we are giving our kids money every week or month so they can buy candy, computer games and other nonsense and these diggers could live from that money for many months. its not the world thats sick, its we that are sick and no one else.

  • @kickthedonky money is corruption

  • @nartin86 Gett The Fuck Outta Here Then

  • gotta love these vangurad videos

  • Like Anunnaki made genetically slave human for mines of earth, the same story about roses and diamonds!!! Who are the "Gods" today???

  • Those poor minors are some of the toughest people on the planet i bet.

They work harder in a day then your average North american works in a year. Yet we make more in a minute then they do in 8 hours.? Something is seriously wrong with the world we live in.

Just makes you want to round up all the world leaders and hang em from the street lamps.

  • yeah its pure evil what is happening to thous people but theirs always going to be suffering in society , the way thing are theses days at least

  • @ALilEmoGirl117

sorry to be a pain. it's "miners" not minors

    ;)

But I agree with what you say

  • Comment removed

  • @ALilEmoGirl117 iii would def. help you' down with the WORLD CORRUPT LEADERS OF THE ' SLAVE WORLD!

  • @ALilEmoGirl117 thats just how the world works. our ancient western civilization has been developing for thousands of years. we then colonize tribal regions of the world and force our lifestyle upon them. their cultures are completely different to the ones we force upon them so it tears there society apart. we then pull out of the places we've destroyed and leave them on their own to so sort out the chaos thats been left behind which is impossible. its not the fault of todays world leaders.

  • lol Tupac poster 18:50

  • Couldn't a miner just take a diamond away from the mines to sell at a better price? People usually are shocked by these poor working conditions but this is not new to the world.

  • Did you miss the part where they mentioned that people were beaten to death for being suspected of stealing a diamond? It's better now, but the money is still not getting back to the workers and community in a fair way. Also they mention that the miners do not know the value of what they are mining. If you are paid a very small amount for doing something, it is almost unimaginable that someone would pay such huge amounts in comparison for the spoils of it.

  • how did you get a video over ten minutes?

  • huh? the vid is like more than 20 minutes!!

  • oh come on seriously? *sigh* 3:40 that is what she said

  • "30 cents a day" or "$7 a day" is not very helpful, as the cost of living between the United States and these countries are considerably different.

At least the guy in africa is only working 8 hours a day...pay aside...the work environment looks a little more fair.

  • Moot point, see how skinny they are?

They obviously are too poor to afford basic comforts, but there is a much bigger issue at hand.

This issue, behind all this bullshit, is distribution. Water, food, electricity, etc: if it can't get there, you can't buy it no matter what you make. At least you can maybe make enough to get out.

  • I pray for the minners ( Diggers ) ......... hey work harder then anyone eles in america...

  • you are definitely right!

  • In addition to that horror story, flowers are the sex organs of plants. Why do people think it's romantic to castrate a bunch of rose bushes?

  • There's usually a bad story like this behind every item imported from another country. valentines day is a fake holiday anyways.

  • I never knew all this horrible stuff about the roses or diamonds industries! wow this was a downer...

  • there has been alot of stories about the diamond industries, even movies like "blood diamond" but i never knew about the roses :X

  • The thing with the roses was mentioned in the latest episode of House M.D.

  • wow this was really informative thank you for posting it

i certainly wont be buying roses & dismonds anytime soon lol

  • great work guys

  • I will never again complan about not getting Roses or diamonds again!

  • Wow... I didn't know that... I will think twice when I look at roses and diamonds...that's for sure. The hosts were right at the end... It is a Valentine's Day buzz kill...

  • never knew about the roses =(

  • great video. I knew about the diamond industry but never knew about the roses. Glad I don't like diamonds nor roses!

I'll definitely pass this video along to my friends.

  • Don't buy flowers, buy seeds.

  • Wow, this is really great that you brought to light these issues. I knew about diamonds but I had not yet heard much about flower production. The key is to give up the consumer culture - stop buying things that you dont need to.

  • Congratulations, you get 10 thumbs down with more to come.

  • What did he say to get THAT?

  • It was a reply to the guy who said "First"

  • oh... now its twelve...and counting... that IS asinine.
