AAARGH! This is not a cover--Guy Clark WROTE the song.  Jerry Jeff Walker recorded the song before Guy did, and had a bigger hit with it, but you can't cover a version of a song you wrote. That said, it's a great song.

Sorry to cause you such pain and anguish. I guess what I intended to convey by the title of this video is that I am doing a cover of a Guy Clark tune - not that Guy Clark covered the song. Hope that clears things up. Thanks for checking it out.

VERY NICE JOB!  This is one of my favorite old songs, and you do a the song a favor with your tasty singing and playing. Recently saw Todd Snider do this song, and he stated that Jerry Jeff is one of his favorite songwriters. Again GOOD JOB.

Jerry Jeff is a great songwriter, but Guy Clark wrote this one. I'm glad Todd is covering it, but it would be great if he could attribute it to Guy.
