  • Best song of the whole show.....the EP is the real shit.

  • Wow, this is amazing! (obvious fan) they blow me away. Fun fact: Geoff Tate has a four octave range for singing! Incredible!

  • @QueensrycheGirl1995

Yup! He has a recorded range from A1 to A5, although I doubt he can hit an A5 any longer.

  • @resurgam44 he can do better, bruce dickinson can a B5!, so i pretty sure that tate can do better

  • @resurgam44 Hush! Maybe right, but he's earned his respect. One of the best operatic voices in rock of all time, if not the best! I don't want to hear anything from Freddie either, sit down, shut up!

  • GREAT VID - thanks!!!

  • Too bad I wasn't born yet lol This song kicks ass!!

  • One of the greatest solos

  • They're doing Queen of the Reich at the END of the fucking show!! Thats more than INSANE!!! That's QUEENSRYCHE FUCK YEAH!

  • That's INSANE!!!

  • Geoff Tate had awesome stage prescence in those days. He just kinda fucked up wearing a Gold's Gym t-shirt on Operation Mindcrime.

  • I don't care what any one says, the 80's rocked!

  • @Santurro99 Ya, they rocked till the 90's came around...flopped with Empire, Silent Lucidty, etc.

  • I love Queensryche so much, I did a cover of "No sanctuary" on my channel. I kept having trouble singing it until I found a better vocal patch. Check it out, I did what I could to pay homage to them.

  • WOW awesome the 80s were

  • Oh SUCH memories.. ty geoff.. you put a song in my heart.. and a fire to perform..

  • I wish Queensryche still had this intensity, and -above all - I wish they still had DeGarmo. While I'd still buy a ticket to see the band anytime anywhere, this incarnation of the band was just so hungry and ready to take on the world. I'm glad I got to see them several times during that era.

  • @TheLeroyMoon I saw them on Operation Mindcrime. Are they really still around? I thought they tapered off after Empire and maybe another bad album afterwards.

  • @elfquest108 Yes! They are still around without Chris De Garmo, but I just saw them las month in Dallas at The House Of Blues. Their set list was kick ass! They played alot of their old stuff & a few of their newer songs. TOTALLY AWESOME SHOW!!

  • 1:27 he smote them.

  • @srs7593 bahaha i just noticed that he misses the 2nd high five XD

  • I'm sure nobody had hearing protection during these days, wonder if the guys suffer from major tinnitus. Maybe they did have them in, but i doubt it. Now most musicians use them all the time. i know i do.

  • classic, /watch?v=vZOJMcCABKg

  • OMG! The mighty Queensryche in their prime. Geoff Tate was the greatest voice to come out of the 80's scene. Rage for Order was such an underrated album (or to far ahead of it's time). I wish I had seen them in this tour. Got to see them the next year though. Thanx for posting.

  • Geoff Tate was the FINEST most gifted singer in rock history with apologies to Halford, Dio, and Dickinson all of whom are spectacular in their own right. Still, could any of them pull off Queen of the Reich at the END of a show like Tate did? Lord that is some powerful stuff.

  • @cetanlutah there is still Ski from Deadly Blessing. He can still sing like he did on the Ascend From Cauldron album.

  • @StagnantExistance Yes he can. I played in a band with him briefly and we covered Queen of the Reich as well as some Stryper and Judas Priest at a benefit for a local musician who passed away too early in life. The gig was awesome but Queen of the Reich was the best. I thought I was playing with Geoff Tate.

  • @unixkid1 Good to see, that some legendary singers are still in good shape.

  • @cetanlutah Yeh he is an amazing singer, definitely up there with the likes of Bruce and Halford. Dont forget Ian Gillian and Harry "the Tyrant" though. Personally, even though Geoff is incredible, i just love Halford and he is my fav singer.

  • best singer in music still!..

  • he was so much cooler back then....

  • I saw this tour twice, they opened for AC/DC on their Who made Who tour, then went out with OZZY on his Crazy Babies tour....both times in Dallas Texas

  • Oh my god what a voice !!!

  • WOW!

  • Wow. Just compare this Geoff to the Geoff that's doing Queensryche "Cabaret" shows now. No contest at all. This video was taken when Geoff was really on top of his game and the whole band was really tight and together.

Now it seems like the just don't give a shit and they only play to fulfill a contract or something. I understand people change and that their voices change as well when then age. But seriously...THIS Geoff or the current Geoff doing a so called "cabaret" (low brow T and A) show?

  • @NunRaper666 type in "queensryche pittsburgh 1985" see the live performance of NM156

  • Badass! Chris DeGarmo and Micahel Wilton should've never stopped using Kramer Voyagers!!! They're the most badass guitars ever invented!

  • "Everyone looked gay in the 80's"

I see a lot of people who "look gay" now -as much or more- every day, I just don't care. What I'm here to bring up is this; do you confort yourself in the modern "t-shirt with jeans fits any occasion" ideal? I swear what men allow themselves to wear nowadays is pretty narrow-minded and boring. Sad that the only ones in the public eye being creative are those around the emo style, its really not my thing. I do my own and don't give a damn what people think. \m/

  • @REXxMaskimus I totally agree with you. Most guys dress boring now. In the 80's male artists were allowed to look good, and you sure as hell didn't have to be gay to appreciate that. They were our idols, leaders, superheroes, and they had to have super appearance. It was very inspirational and cool. Image was and still is very important! You can't really look up to a guy who looks like he just walked off the street.

  • I seen them opening for Ozzy Ultimate sin on this tour.I think it was the summer of 86.The crowd started chanting ozzy before they played this song..Very rude and the band did not deserve it.It was a Sunday and the auditorium was pretty empty..I remember Geoff observing this said so this is Sunday in Fayetteville NC..They returned in 89 to a sold out crowd and opened for Metallica. The crowd went wild..And with a big smile Geoff said So this is Fayetteville on a Saturday..Great keepsake here 5 *

  • THEY WERE -86 IN HELSINKI AND I WAS 14 THEN...STILL THEY ROCK AND MY FAVORITE BAND....

  • Geoff Tate is Not Gay he has a wife

  • The comments that Geoff Tate must be "gay" because of the way he dressed in a particular era (20+ years ago) are simply unwarranted. It's amazing how much more homophobic people are now than they were in the '80s. Back then, most rock bands--whether they were metal, alternative, or mainstream--experimented with different looks. That meant having big hair and making fashion statements. That was the '80s. I suppose every band from the '80s would look "gay" to today's homophobic population.

  • killer harmonies in the guitar solos by Chris and Mikey, truly AWESOMENESS!

  • Yes!!!!! I saw this tour in Albuquerque in a warehouse with about 1000 of my closest friends! Thanks for the post!

  • Pamela Moore is his wife.

  • Yea ...gay schmay u schmucks! Check out Geoffs wife sometime. If ur half a man you would love to get close enough to smell her n get a look at her gorgeous Double D's!!!!! LOL

  • Everyone looked gay in the 80's haha. Looks crap but hey, thats the look they had then. Doesnt mean they are gay. Good find of this video! Love QR

  • miiiiichael!!!

  • Comment removed

  • No, he is not. He is married to a wonderful woman named Susan Tate with whom he had a daughter; his little girl sings in the song 'Home Again' on Queensryche's newest album, American Soldier. Sexual preference has little to do with external performance and more to do with one's internal desire for emotional proximity. Further - they are a METAL BAND PREFORMING ON STAGE. That is why they dress like this. Please don't be an ignorant American bigot. Thank you.

  • Metal bands dress in open shirts that are tied off at the bottom??...I dont know...thats gay in my book

  • I realize that I am probably just feeding the troll, but you DO realize that material performativity (such as dressing 'gay') is only one many qualities necessary to place someone within a particular ideology or discourse (such as homosexuality), right?

  • Ask yourself: why do we attach things such as tied off shirts to one side of the hetero/homo binary? There is nothing inherently 'gay' about them, if placed outside their contemporary ideological labels. Indeed, one must ponder why there even IS a binary opposition, when the qualities which comprise both sides could very easily be labeled under one singular unarism, or further separated into quaternary/tertiary/&c. structures.

  • @resurgam44 all the obsessing over if they r gay, they look gay, etc. is just someone trying to come out of the closet himself.

  • @resurgam44 haha! fuck yea bro. you're reply blew that fool away!

  • Oh, C'mon with your silly P.C. nonsense...with that logic its not "inherently gay" to put your penis into another mans butt, either...because, after all, its only a "physical" act..Of which anyone with a couple of Viagra's and a functioning penis could do......I've heard interviews with the guy..and he comes across as a GAY man..What can I tell you??..couple that with the effeminate voice and the effeminate behavior...along with the questionable attire & hair style....and you got a gay man!!!!

  • He's from Canada. Don't be an ignorant putz yourself

  • @Turdman12

I'm sorry I raged as harshly as I did, but are you sure he is from Canada? tmwnat's profile says he IS from the United States. Please don't think me uninformed xenophobe. I'm from Canada myself, and have many intelligent friends from the States; I just hate it when negative stereotypes are perpetuated by ignorant dicks like tmwnat.

  • @resurgam44, Geoff Tate was born in Germany, while his dad was stationed there on military duty with the U.S., but he is a U.S. citizen. Thanks for uploading this awesome vid. RYCHE ON!

  • @resurgam44 he isn't not from Canada...he was born in Germany and raised in America..

    check wikipedia better

  • @GuitarBill13

I was referring to the douchey user, tmwnat, NOT Geoff Tate; believe me, I know my Tate. It would behove you check the previous comments before responding next time. Thank you.

  • Dude, how did you find this video ? Its 23 years ago.

  • just like you can find vid of Van Halen 32 years ago!......; . )

  • you have to be gay, making silly comments about this piece of history-listen to the music for a while....

  • geoff tate was one of the best voices in the 80"s

  • I wish he could sing like this today!!!

  • @blankebaas THE BEST

  • @MrVANJR you are right when i think about it,i cant remeber a better voice.he was the best in the 80's!!!

  • @blankebaas

he is still one of the best ;o) 4 octave wonder!!!

  • I still cant get over that voice eh guys, i really cant!

  • alguien me puede explicar como mierda hace?!??! incredible!!!!

  • This is brillant any idea who they r opening for here? AC/DC Ratt or Ozzy?

  • saw them in the netherlands at this tour supporting bon jovi in arnhem 1986

  • wow..they toured Europe with Bon Jovi...that's incredible..what a bizzare bill.

  • seen them ever since they came to holland ,first time in 1984 supporting Dio last time in Zwolle 2009I think tey are the best The Pink Floyd of progressive metal

  • Yeah they rule. 1st time I saw them was in USA...supporting KISS 1984...they were supposed to open for RATT in 1987 but they dropped off the tour..I stil have the newspaper ad proclaiming them as the opening act...they were replaced by Joan Jett and Poison; then in 1988 I saw them open for METALLICA.

Then in 1991 I saw them headline and I've caught every tour since except the current tour because it isn't coming to my city

  • You know I still have audio footages on tape of that concert in amsterdam in 84

And met Eddie in brussels performing mindcrime 1&2 in 2008

  • too bad fro you but chek out on youtube sarexceno zoetermeer 09/07/09 you will see me in front with the tattoo on my wrist and the balck bandana enjoy and have fun keep on rocking greesings rychehead

  • @AngryAgain

I found out why QR dropped off the tour from an interview I read of the late Robbin Crosby. He said that Ratt & QR were not a good mix. Ratt was a party band and QR was a darker band. He said tickets were not selling as well as they could with Poison on board. So, they got Poison back on.

  • @BlissfulWishes I came across that same interview. Thanks.

  • @BlissfulWishes Those are mediocre fucks. Queensryche represents being the best version of yourself.

  • THE PERFECT METAL/ROCK SINGER!!

  • To who have i to kill to sing like that ?

    O.O!!

  • Hard to believe Queensryche ACTUALLY went the way of eyeliner, lipstick, mascara, and blusher, during the Rage For Order era!

  • I thought it was awesome. Queensryche's image was really mysterious back then.

  • the sound of the guitars is quite perfect here... and tate of course is Mr. perfection! it's a pity he lost his old vocal range

  • you suck and know nothing about quality

I guess you are just a sick mind

  • Truly trixy69 I think you need to see a doctor for your ears as well as your eyes and mouth fuck of

  • as ive said before....you cant hit the high ones all the time and this proves it. He prob sang the night before and the one after this. As a Queensryche afficionato this is 1000% raw!

  • Comment removed

  • brilliant performance my favorite queensryche song /,,//,,/

  • thanks for sending Diopriest, you're right, such an awesome song! /,,/ /,,/

  • Vocals live are still amazing

  • Nice guitar choreography! ;)

  • These guys fuck the universe

  • omg! it is great to have ol' school ryche on here-thanks so much 4 this 1!

  • wow

  • Mr Tate -BRILIANT!

  • DeGarmo is cool in this vid..Full on 80s

stuff... Seen Chris @ the Van Nuys Airport a few times. Cool dude...

  • ahh yes- this is the real deal.

  • And I do like Hear in the Now Frontier but I just feel like that was where they really made the shift toward there new style.

  • Oh don't get me wrong captain. I love Queensryche's new albums, I just feel like the old ones have a little more bang. But what I was trying to say is that people talk about how Queensryche would magically go back to the old style if Chris rejoined. My arguement was thats just not the case. I think there style would pretty much keep going the way it is if he rejoined. Not saying he shouldn't It would be awesome if he came back, I'm just saying, I don't expect anymore Rage for Order's from them.

  • dont be stuck in the 80s or you will be surely left astray( and 80s metal is my fav music) but whereever QR goes i will follow, cause im a true fan, through thick and thin!

  • im with you matey.

  • codynstuff have you not heard the song JUSTIFIED was written by chris and geoff and released in 2007,very awesome songs and shows what they could do with chris...i dont see why people always gotta basg the album HEAR IN THE NOW FRONTIER its a pretty good album in my opinion really like the song "some people fly" and chris was the backbone of ryche, believe me chris is the fucking man!tribe is another good album, its all about progressing, changing, maturing and thats what QR is doing

  • I agree 100% about HITNF! Very underrated.. The song "You" on there is such classic Ryche, and that no one can see that is absurd!!!! That was an amazing album and I will argue with anyone who will disagree!!

  • the problem with HITNF is too many songs and not enough outstanding ones. A lot of forgettable crap like MILES AWAY, ALL I WANT, CUCKO NEST. They could've easily lost about 4-5 songs on there and just had one solid album

  • geoff tate TEARS IT UP on the vocals

  • Alright nothing against, Chris, we all know hes the shit. But lets be honest here, he was part of Hear in the Now. There first album of what I call New Queensryche. I don't mind it, but i prefer the old stuff personally. But realize that Chris came back and helped write a lot of the songs on Tribe. Tribe in my opinion is there worse album and is not like the old stuff like this. So even if he does come back I really don't think there'd be much of a difference.

  • Brutal, simply Brutal

  • QUEENSRYCHE RULES!!! Great video. We're thinking of covering that song ^_^

  • If you do, please post a video!

  • so awesome!! and geoff still has his voice! lost weight and has his hair long again,HES BACK!! only thing i could ask for now is chris degarmo to come back, than i will be on cloud 9!!

  • Seriously if i was Ratt i would be embarrased to go onb after them lol...i freaking love geoff voice hopefully i get to see them in april

  • I wante his voice *_*

  • shit im lucky enough of have found this band haha...im starting to think im the only girl leaving a comments. My friends dont know shit about music they just listen to rap is really pathetic. I guess i know alot about the 80's music for a 18 yr old

  • I'm actually in the same boat as you. I discovered Queensryche around 2005 when I was 15, and am 19 now. Age doesn't matter, gender doesn't matter, only the music matters. Ryche on.

  • Wanna go out some time?

  • who are u talking to? resurgam44 or me?

  • Hang in there!!! your like my neice a little rocker chick. Us old fucks love people like you , keeping the best music the world has ever seen ALIVE! God bless yoiu!!!

  • Haha doesn't matter, a girl who likes Queensryche? Not easy to find one these days

  • let me shake your hand that im very impressed that your 18, your a girl and you know alot about queenryche. Girls that i talk about them say who, is that a band and even guys dont have a clue who they are and thats sad

  • haha thanks many of my friends dont know who queensryche, motley crue or even van halen...seriously how do they live. /some of them hear about them because of guitar hero lol

  • thats why im impressed that you even know who queensryche is, i tell people about them and there like huh, who, is that a band lol, im like you gotta be kidding me

  • if there were any doubts about whos the best metal singer ever, these videos of Geoff in his prime should erase them. Nobody I mean nobody, dio, halford, dickinson could touch him!!! I remember seeing them at Lamour East, they were amazing, hes untouchable!!

  • Queensryche opening for Ratt...that's like the Stone's opening for Backstreet Boys. There is no justice...

  • Ryche and Ratt is like - steak and chicken. If only Geoff acted a little more masculine they could have had a bigger fan base.

  • He was plenty maculine. Nothing to do with fan base. What metal band had a big fan base back then anyway? It was all underground. A lot of people forget that none of this was played on main stream. Metallica's One is where it began. Geoff takes a gun and kills Dr. X on stage during their last tour. How much more hardcore can you get than that?

  • Thats how it's done!!!!!

  • I remember this concert. QR opened for Ratt and this was the song they opened up with. I had never seen them live before and I was sure as hell Geoff wouldn't be able to hit that note. Boy, was I wrong! He nailed it and crushed Ratt that night!

  • degarmo is a great metal guitarist and tate is one of the best metal vocalists EVA!!!! they have been one of my favorite bands for over 20yrs... even their new stuff is high on my list... as much as I love rage for order, promised land is still my favorite album from them...

  • sometimes I wish I could crawl through the monitor into the arena to be at these shows, this one I slammed my head clear through the wall. Simply Amazing.

  • DITTO DUDE!

  • WOW!!!

  • This band was impressive live! I also saw them on this tour open for Ozzy and they blew his fat spandex wearing ass off the stage then!

Also caught Queensryche when they opened up for Metallica and they were GREAT! They're probably the only opening band for Metallica that didn't getting booed! ha The crowd was digging em!!

  • Yeah, I saw that tour and everyone was going nuts when Queenryche played. They came out for an encore. Bad ass

  • geoff tate rules......amazing

  • impressive Geoff voice!

  • Last song of the show??? Are you fucking kidding me?? Geoff is GOD. Boy do I miss those days. What a great time for Metal.

  • yeah, very good stuff, no, its VERY VERY AMAZING STUFF

  • hahahaha

  • Can Geoff still scream like that? Ive heard he can barely carry a high note these days. Still he is the best

  • He's steadily improving since he quit smoking. He has his good and bad days, but overall is better today than he was in the mid nineties.

  • no, he cant but still a very good singer after almost 25 years... But he did start smoking around '90ish and i think thats the main reason why he cant scream anymore..

You look at Bruce from Maiden, he can still sing like the 80's so.

  • Geoff quit smoking and his voice has improved greatly.

  • bro im so glad geoff quit smoking, you can see a big difference in his vocal range and that he still has that magical voice

  • Saw Queensryche on this tour when they opened for Ozzy. I'm not sure why Ozzy even bothered coming on, Queensryche blew him away!

  • yeah goeff tate no doubht has the best rock voice better than any other in my opinion, his whole band were so in sync. and when you hear him go from low to highhhh it sure does give you goosebumps. my favorite band.

  • one of the greatest band in history of music!

  • definitely!

  • People may make fun of so called "hair metal" these days, but this was serious stuff back than. These guys would melt your face. The craftsmanship has rarely been matched. I was lucky enuff to see them in 85 opening for Kiss.

  • We never thought of Queensryche as "hair metal". Never . I've seen them from their first tour on.

  • REAL BAND AND MUSICIAN'S!!!!!! played live NO LYPSYNCING or backup tracks!! What is wrong with people nowadays? rap hip hop albums of the year,Hanna Montana WAKE UP!!!!!

  • MTV dictates & tells people what's good. Unfortunately, what they're pushing today is pure no talent crap.

Some will say the same about 80's metal. But those guys could play, sing, & make you have a good time.

  • This was my 1st QR concert! at the Santa Monica Civic Ca. Was an awesome show qand boy do I remember that crazy Drum set-up! GREAT performance from all!:D -MAVIII(prOgulus. c o m)

  • The perfect Metal Voice.....He sang every word with so much feeling, thats what set him apart from the Dios,Dickinsons,Halfords,Gillians all the usual suspects.

  • Do you have any other videos from this bootleg avaliable to upload? Cheers!

  • This song should be mandatory listening for all high school senoirs b4 graduating!!!

  • Where did u get this? Unreal voice !!!

  • un cantante che arrivi così acuto in un concerto non esiste tranne che lui

  • Saw these guys in Baltimore open for Kiss during the Lick It Up tour (1985 I believe) and they BLEW 'EM OFF THE STAGE! I was sitting in about tenth row- main floor and Geoff Tate's voice was UNBELIEVABLE!

  • I still remember the first time I heard this riff. I still get goosebumps to this day.

  • When I see the video Queen of the Reich on VH1 I had the same feeling. God bless the cable TV :-D

  • fucking extreme music.

drums, bass, guitar solos, voice ... all amazing

  • Fuck yeah!

  • why is g tate my favorite singer/performer..this is why bitches.. this is why.. :) Robinsings

  • Wow I'm blown away Geoff's voice gives me goose pumps, the whole band is just amazing. I remember hearing Queensryche in the early 80's and was addicted from then on...It's a shame when Chris De Garmo left the band so did the magic. What a performance!

  • The VOICE!

  • pure greatness.....

  • Superb stuff. Been a ryche fan since the mid 80's and this is one of the best live versions I've seen. Geoffs voice is just so strong. Anyone who questions his voice needs to watch this clip.

  • Priceless. I was just a year to young to see this tour. What a band. Thanks for the share.

  • Wow great! 10x for sharing

  • Wow ... just amazing ! their energy is sooo intense on stage at these magical times ... this is a godsend precious video that makes us forget its bad quality for the huge perfomance of this song ! i wish I could travel back in times ... I was only 10 in 1986 ^^

  • Thank you for sharing ! This show is from Montreal. I had a version of it somewhere on VHS
