It stands to reason the earth was created at a fairly uniform temperature and has then cooled from the outside (¬3K) to its current, using that you can see that taking the rate of heat transfer away from the earth (not including the energy coming in from the sun) gives about 80,000 years and thats a massive under estimat

I am intregued by this debate about God. In my opinion, God is hope, freewill, regret, pain and the list goes. All that Man feels is the consequence of an action. Science exists because of freewill. With freewill, Man was 'free' to question, which lead to science. You might think, "sinse there are rules to follow, there is no freewill" when actually, Man was 'free' to make those rules in the first place.

@safghaddy Contrary to many Christian teachings, people aren't sent to hell for not being "Christian". They're sent to hell for their sins. There's an important difference there that escapes a lot of folks. Christians are sinners as well, and if they do not practice the love and grace that Jesus preached, they'll be sent below as well. Heaven is for those with child-like hearts, humble, quick to love and forgive, and who realize they need help. That's the best answer I've got. Hope it helps.

Most religious debates aren't about searching for truth though. They're more about proving the other guy wrong at any cost. Hypocritical Christians are an easy target for someone looking for an excuse to reject God. But someone honestly searching for truth can plainly see that a loving God isn't about just sending people to hell.

It stands to reason the earth was created at a fairly uniform temperature and has then cooled from the outside (¬3K) to its current, using that you can see that taking the rate of heat transfer away from the earth (not including the energy coming in from the sun) gives about 80,000 years and thats a massive under estimat

Most likely, God bears zero resemblance to human beings or any other living thing, and doesn't really care what you believe. Like Jethro Tull said, we've locked God in a golden cage. There's really no use arguing about it. I am intregued by this debate about God. In my opinion, God is hope, freewill, regret, pain and the list goes. All that Man feels is the consequence of an action. Science exists because of freewill. With freewill, Man was 'free' to question, which lead to science. You might think, "sinse there are rules to follow, there is no freewill" when actually, Man was 'free' to make those rules in the first place.

i know there is a god, i've got two of them. one is odin, he has only one eye, and when i die, i'll join him in a battle against evil goblins. the other one i call mr. jinglebell and he reads me good night stories. they really exist, you can't prove that they don't... and unicorns also exist!

The answer always comes down to free will. God gave men free will, and some are evil and some are good. Most of us are both, but he would never interfere with the choices we would make, whether good or evil, because he is essentially goodd and believes in freedom. But he also knows that all choices have consequences, and those who choose evil, war, hate, and destruction will reap what they sow, but not until the end of the game. This is life. This is choice. If "God" gave us free will, than why is Science and such things sins? Isn't Stamcell research free will? and btw. There's nothing either good or bad, since it depends on wich side your'e on. This is life. THis is choice. This is NOT God.

Aye, i don't know if free will is something that "God" created or if it's something that we've developed by time... All i know is that you, as well as many else, belives in "God", while others, like myself, does not.

God gave man freewill, so it's essentially neither created by him or obtained by us but something 'granted' to us by him.
I believe it was because he wanted to see if we would choice him or not, considering Angles at first had no choice.
This probly came to be due to him questioning himself just as all of us do at somepoint. I wonder what he has come to decide about himself, dont you?

@kevnar i just have a question. this is not intended for me to be trolling ive just always been curious. if non-believers are disliked/hated by the church and go to hell... even tho jesus preaches to love your enemy, then shouldnt we be given an equal, if not better chance into heaven? it has always just struck me as rather contradictory with the faith, among other things.

@safghaddy Contrary to many Christian teachings, people aren't sent to hell for not being "Christian". They're sent to hell for their sins. There's an important difference there that escapes a lot of folks. Christians are sinners as well, and if they do not practice the love and grace that Jesus preached, they'll be sent below as well. Heaven is for those with child-like hearts, humble, quick to love and forgive, and who realize they need help. That's the best answer I've got. Hope it helps.

@TorTheFlame stem cell research is only looked at as a sin by the catholic church, i think... u can believe in god and not catholicism. anyways, the reason the church views stem cell research as unethical is because u need to use an aborted baby or something like that and abortion is unethical according to the church because u are denying life to a newborn.

@TorTheFlame Not everything Christians believe is from God. If you start with that idea, you'll have a lot better luck understanding who/what God is truly all about. Most religious debates aren't about searching for truth though. They're more about proving the other guy wrong at any cost. Hypocritical Christians are an easy target for someone looking for an excuse to reject God. But someone honestly searching for truth can plainly see that a loving God isn't about just sending people to hell.

@TorTheFlame Another point: If god is almighty, he therefor knows everything that would/will ever happen to his creatures, which means that you can't have a free will since he always knew what you were going to do.
Any kind of logic beats a religion. However, the point is to tolerate religion AS LONG as it stays pacific and doesn't get a criminal organisation (which most religions are).

@TorTheFlame Before I start speaking, I will just state that I am not religious. In the bible however (which, despite being unreligious, I have read), God gave us free will, but this includes the power to sin. Sure, God gave us this, but that also includes the ability to go against his decrees.
An analogy would be writing a test in school. A major rule is "No cheating" - does that mean you can't cheat? No, it just means there would be dire consequences and that you wouldn't get away with it.

@TorTheFlame Science and other things are not sins, and God did give us freewill, we're allowed to do whatever we want to do. God just said that if we want to go to Heaven, we have to believe that he died for us, and that he is real. That is all. All the other stuff you hear about God telling us not to do this or not to do that, are really just guidelines He gave us to live a healthier lifestyle. Everything you heard about us burning in Hell for doing that, probably came from a religious fanatic

The song isnt about whether god is real or not, or what choices we have. It's about all the evil things that humankind has done "For the Greater Good of God"

I disagree with your assessment, and so does the Bible. Plagues, flooding the world, fires, brimstone, destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah, locusts and on & on. He's interfered numerous times (and committed mass murder) if the Bible is to be believed.
I dont begrudge you your choice of religions. Not in the least... but you should at least truly know your religion before you preach it to others.
