I'm 14. I'm an avid gamer, and last time checked, I don't murder anyone. I don't stab, shoot, or kill a single per I believe that someone like a seven or eight or nine or possibly a ten year old may not want to play GTA. But as gamers, young ones at least, it is up to our parents. I think 10 and up KNOW that videogames are FAKE.

As "Realistic" as games might get, what people don't understand is that there is something called a "Suspended state of disbelief," the brain function that tells you what you see/hear/play is not real, but fictional. Even if the game is photo realistic, you will go into the game knowing that it's a game. So the worry that more realistic games will cause violence is pretty much moot.

@255ad The UK doesn't "ban" games, however it does "refuse classification" to some games. It has only happened twice in the history of british gaming, but Manhunt 2 was one of the two games that were, at first, refused classification. These non-classified games could not be sold legally in the UK, so it is basically a ban, just using different words. Both of the banned games were later given classification when the publisher edited parts of the game. So it is now unbanned.

I'm sorry but controversy in video games started way before GTA:SA. If you want to be accurate you will give Credit to Mortal Kombat, as well as violent games around 1992-1993. Midway was taken to court for it several times as well as being one of the main reasons The ESRB was founded.

Just give credit to the true reason controversy started. Hell in the video it even talks about ESRB. GTA is given way too much credit.

In Australia we rate video games by G, PG, M, MA15+ and we currently have no R18+. That might sound good like 15 year olds can play 18+ games but most violent games are toned down for us.

Also to Jack Thompson, I started playing Grand Theft Auto games when I was 9 (I am currently 16), since playing I never committed any crime, never hurt anyone. In fact I am one who would be bullied. I did not start swearing when I was 9 or 10 and to be honest most of the Vice City stuff went over my head.

Jack is an idiot. He tells us his son bought vice city at the age of 10, and san andreas at the age of 12. That means that his son has had vice city for 2 years - I don't know the actual dates. If he didn't want his son to have it, he needs to take better care of his son - so he didn't buy the game in the first place, or he should just take it away from him. If Jack took an interest in his son's life, it wouldn't be hard to find out what games he was playing in 2 years... and take them away..
