I'd love to see a follow-up, or even info. on the owl in the future. Having said that, I took a fledgling mourning dove to a rehab person this summer and haven't called to see how it is, since that would do nothing but satisfy my curiosity. But I may make that call anyway.
Thanks for picking up this owl. He would have died for sure without help.
Omg this man is not helping that owl at all. Your supposed to wrap a towel around the bird to prevent stress and injury. The owl pulls away possibly causing a complex fracture. This owl may die of capture myopathy due to high stress levels because it is handled incorectly. Isnt Vet wrap supposed to have padding before being put on and the Vet wrap isnt put on correctly and i've just did basic bandaging on dogs and horses. Ignorant people will think this is fine but its not.
which is nearly impossible with aviaries best thing for a broken wing like that is surgery placing a pin attached to the broken bones and removing it when fully healed if it even heals straight which is a very difficult problem the way the bone structures of birds wings are I can almost guarantee you that owl was either uthenized or never returned to the wild :-/ I used to work in the veterinary field and dealt with a lot of these problems
Dude whoever that guy was he did not know what he was doing from what i saw the way he wrapped that owls wing was done very wrong instead of helping it I think it made it worst the vet wrap was put on extremely tight when wrapping anything first rule of thumb is never wrap too tight no matter what the situation your suppose to stretch the wrap out then wrap and in a situation like that wrapping is even worst on a broken wing the bones have to be aligned perfectly to have a succesful heal
awn what a beautiful bird. Good thing u found him. Poor little darlin

Aren't you supposed to burrito them in a secure towel or blanket to immobilize the injured wing and prevent struggling?
