  • FFFFFUUUU, Jonas!

  • Loved the film, got the blu-ray, and I am really enjoying this review, even the criticism. Great job guys.

  • They do have a point. I thought it would have more crazy mind bending shit. But overall, it was a great movie, one of my top 5 for the year.

  • WTF this movie was awesome, Jonas or whatever can go back kissing twilight's ass cuz his name seems like one of those gay twilight fanboys!@!!@

  • What are people's thoughts on having Levitt potentially being the next Batman Villian?

  • @Sedalb levitt is a great actor i really think he could pull of the riddler even better than jim carey maybe bring that unique chris nolan realism to the character what do you think ?

  • @flynntheman90 Well, if Inception was Nolan's test to see how Levitt performs, then I think he passed with flying colours!

    ... I just hope he doesn't die

  • @Sedalb god thats the last thing nolan needs!!! people will start calling it ledgers curse or something

  • I saw this movie a few weeks ago, it was the bestest from I've seen this summer. Everything was just amazing. I wouldn't think I would go to see A Team even if I had the chance to.

  • I was a bit disapointed, I loved it, but I left the theatre less excited than when I saw the dark knight. I expected this film to be deeper. Of course he included lots of action and scenes where it's very clear that he was looking to set a new paradigma as matrix did. But this had to be a blockbuster. I think it's a 9/10 for me, it felt great though to watch a good hollywood film for once, but this was deffinetely not a deep movie as I expected it to be.

  • HI PLEASE DO MORE

    Video review love your FACE

  • Jonas was disappointed with Inception? Sorry, we can't be friends anymore.

  • @yan008 I only say "disappointed" because my expectations were so sky-high. I'll reiterate: Chris Nolan is one of my favorite (if not THE favorite) directors working today. I was expecting to have a mind-blowing, one-of-a-kind, holy-sh*t I can't believe what I just saw, movie experience. Inception was a wonderful movie: acting was wonderful, direction was wonderful, script was wonderful, and it had a depth and complexity of plot and theme that we just don't get in big-budget film making...

  • @yan008 ...As I said in the review, it was a coup for smart film making. My disappointment is that, in a movie where he had carte blanche to do basically whatever he wanted, it felt like Nolan (unnecessarily) limited himself. Yes, the movie was internally consistent. He set forth the rules: you can't mess around in the dream too much or the dreamer becomes aware and it falls apart. And he stuck to those rules. But he didn't have to make those rules. He could have just as easily created a world..

  • @yan008 ...where you could bend and warp the dreams all over the place - and I guess I feel let down because THAT was the movie I wanted to see. So, instead of having my mind blown I was merely engaged and thoroughly entertained. Inception was the best movie of the summer by far, but I just can't help feeling like it could have been more than it was. It's a B+/A- when I was hoping for (and expecting) an A+

  • i dont understand the obsession u guys have with cgi!!! u trashed avatar for using too much of it and now u're trashing inception for not using it more?!?! dont contradict ureself.

  • i am so glad that they didnt demote ellens character into a love interest

i see it forced into so many films it was a breath of fresh air

another nice change of pace was saitos character, being a suit i thought he was just gonna be greedy but he had good intentions, he wanted his company to survive

this was a very good film and really does stand out

  • I think CGI takes away from a movie experience a lot of the time. To me I absolutely love the "nuts and bolts" that went into the episode 4,5 and 6 for star wars. Then when you look at the CGI mess that episode 1,2 and 3 you feel like all the characters and set pieces are not really lived in and generic. So I applaud Nolan for keeping it simple and true to art. (Obviously I know it had some CGI)

  • GHB?

  • I thought it was a really intelligent sci-fi heist movie, but in no way dos Inception surpass Dark Knight.

  • i agree with most... this movie really didn't need much CGI distraction just like those other CGI porn movies that came before especially with those over grown smurfs... the hotel corridor screen was enough and it was the best action sequence I've ever seen so far... plus even without the CGI effects at the end you still feel like you were in a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream...

  • The bad part of if It's a dream is that his kids will never see their father again.

  • Tom Hardy was in RocknRolla and more famously he starred in the independent film 'Bronson' where he played notorious criminal Charles Bronson. Interestingly enough it kinda reminds of how Eric Bana got his notoriety in that Bana got his start in an indy film Chopper where he played notorious criminal Mark "Chopper" Read.

  • To add on, effects are not as impressive if it's just CGi. CGI has become so common, it's just a matter of fact now. There's no real magic to movies anymore. Darby O'Gill comes to mind, Lord of the Rings, or Poltergeist are examples where alot of little tricks were used to make the effects. It's like Nolan's Prestige is a metaphor of his preferred style of effects.

  • Nolan prefers not to use CGI. He said that in Inception, everything on the screen was in front of a camera at one point. The hallway was a giant hamster wheel tumbler. Quite impressive stuff. When you watch the movie knowing that, it's that much more impressive. I'm glad it wasn't just another CGI fest like Clash of the Titans or something.

  • The film was amazing.

  • I loved every second of this film. Every second.

  • Really, I think we CAN tell if he was dreaming....think about it. How old were his kids when he left? How old were they when he returned? His daughter's voice on the phone at the beginning was the voice of a much older girl than the one he saw at the end. I'm thinking it was clear it was a dream at the end.

  • I also thought the same about the ending.

It's not about the question if it's a dream or not. It's about the question does it even matter. At least in my opinion

  • Hey, MPC have you heard about how the music at the very beginning is the music that they play as the musical countdown slowed down?

  • WOOT!

  • MPC, please go back to your old format of movie reviews. I'm not a big fan of the new format.

  • there actually is a definite ending. hes in the real world. in all the dreams he has a ring. in the end, he didnt have one. in the ending, where it abruptlky goes to the credits, the top falls down (you can hear it)

  • this review sucks.

    i'm gonna unsubscribe.

    these guys suck.

they sayid the same shit about ironman 2.

  • I dont like this review at all

  • @highnine9 um, care to elaborate?

  • ...the score? is that from Zack Hemsey?

  • @ashesfrombones hans zimmer

  • @mebbwebb oh really?

  • @mebbwebb go check v=lOJqicM6x84 then.

  • @ashesfrombones I have the OST and it says Hans Zimmer.

  • @mebbwebb strange, the internet says Mind Heist is composed by Zack Hemsay

  • The whole point is that the dreamer shouldnt be aware that he is dreaming.

The dreamer should think he is in reality or else the inception does not work.

This is explained several times in the flick, so why do you guys want more cg set peices?

Nolan is not holding anything back when the story dictates a more realistic setting.

Watching a movie is not about what YOU want to see, it's a question of "did the director stick to his own story/rules".

Nolan did just that...10 outa 10

  • @Samplelord I completely understand that within the world of the movie you can't bend the dream reality too much or the dreamer will become aware that he is dreaming - those are the rules that Nolan creates and , yes, he completely sticks to those rules. I disagree with you, though, that that criteria solely is what watching movie is about. Nolan didn't HAVE to make those rules, he didn't HAVE to set those limits on himself

  • @jonasmsimon You are 100% right. This film should have been filled with dreams that were a cross between the Cell and the Matrix. Instead we get someone dreaming about having a drink in a hotel bar. ????? BORING! And the Bond snow fort scene could have easily been more fantastic since the dreamer KNEW that he was going into a dream! And I also saw it in IMAX expecting a lot more bang for the buck. I give it a B+.

  • @jonasmsimon

For the story to work, Nolan had to make those rules, he did not limit himself.

I also thought the movie was more akin DreamScape/Nightmare o Elm, but that would not work in the context of the story.

  • @Samplelord

    ps

If the movie had more cgi candy, the target would have woken up and the movie would be over in 45 min...that is the whole point of the movie, not knowing when you are dreaming.

  • @Samplelord (really, when you think about it - how much crazy sh*t goes on when you dream that you totally accept when it's happening?). If he wanted to, he certainly could have written a movie where there was more reality-bending, and all I was saying was that that's what I was really hoping to see (it's certainly what the previews made it look like). All that being said, I still loved the movie, and I still love Nolan.

  • @jonasmsimon

I watched the movie again and yes, as soon as Cilian Murphy's character has been told that it is a dream, Nolan could have gone for a more surreal dream land.

But as the movie has a lot of detail and exposition, I think it was a choice of Nolan to tone down the dreams, so that the audience would grasp the story...

Yes, the previews made it out to be an action packed, dream warriors type a movie, but thats marketing for ya...

Good review guys and keep up the good stuff!

  • I just saw the film and it was amazing!!!! loved it

  • Inception should be called Perfection. It's one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life.

  • sweet, finally! great dialogue, but i think here the deep story is oversimplified. the story is really the focus of the whole movie; its not CGI porn, which seems to be what Jonas was expecting (from Chris F*ing Nolan?). There were plenty of effects. I think Jonas hijacked this review. The center theme of the movie is Dream vs. Reality. This is a movie of subtlety. Obviously the movie won't seem like an absolute masterpiece if you disregard the tremendous amount of subtlety that Nolan put in

  • I liked the fact that the movie didnt go all out in terms of what can be done in a dream. It seems to me that most likely the visuals will become distracting and gimmicky(Paprika did this, every drug induced dream sequence does this). Dreams are too chaotc. I guess it would be an interesting concept, but might be out of place in a movie where people can control their dreams(although maybe they should've had a nightmare sequence)

  • Good Job!

  • I have been waiting for this for weeks! Oh, and Jonas is back, fuck yeah!

  • @gigsworld101 Quick question, did you make Partner? I ask because the video is now 15 minutes long! If so, congratulations, man!

  • @gigsworld101 15 is the new limit.
