My Dunsparce knows Earthquake to do some decent damage to Rock and Steels that wall it pretty well... All the other moves are the same for me and you. XD
If you could get.... Thunder wave... Attract.... Confuse ray... and serene grace w/ flinching move, you would probably never get hit if you manage to lay down all those moves. You could throw in a double team too for some lulz.
I like Dunsparce, but I really hope they give him an evolution in the fifth gen. He's pretty forgettable to be honest, but I would love to have him be a strong opposing force!
I dunno, he's probably going to be a bit like Farfetched; they're both based on Japanese folk tales, so, to change the form much may defeat the purpose. It'd be nice, though!
I knew that Dunsparce was based on folklore, but I had no idea Farfetched was based on it too. That's interesting, could you link me to what he's based on?
The increase takes a while to decently boost, too.... it's only really viable if you have a strong pokemon with a strong attack move (and even then you'd probably want to do something else).
I don't really pay attention to those tiers aside from what is considered Uber. Togekiss close to replaces what Dunsparce can do, but that's not going to stop me from using him!
this techniques is nice and everything but a lot of people have pokemon in their teams now that can prevent this ability. I myself now use a dragonite with Inner Focus and it it stops it from flinching
Yeah, there's plenty of ways around it. I just like pulling Dunsparce out if it looks like she can cause a little trouble. ...and if not, hopefully I can get someone paralyzed.
Thunder Wave is generally the best paralyzing move. Body Slam, although it can hit Rock Types, doesn't have enough chance. Glare can paralyze 10% more than Body Slam, but the 10% isn't worth Body Slam's attack power.
No Defences at all??? 138 Speed (Jolly, 31 IVs, 0 Evs) is more than enough to outrun a paralysed deoxys-e. I guess that I will raise mine's defences equally for increased lifetime. Anyways thank you for the useful information. One more question: With above-minimum offences, how much does it take to take down the non-steel opposing pokemon (Bite-Headbutt hits everything but some steel types with neutral damage)?
The idea is that sometimes I don't want to bother with (or can't use) Thunder Wave. Also, I just wanted to try out a fast Dunsparce. Not the norm, but it's what I wanted. The Max HP in and of itself makes it so that Dunsparce can survive some of the most powerful attacks.
My Dunsparce, without the boost in attack, tends to take 4-10 turns to knock out a Pokemon that the attacks are neutral against. Just a rough estimate.
Togekiss trumps Dunsparce, no doubt. I just like Dunsparce better.
Dunsparce needs to be able to survive long enough to let off a Thunder Wave/Glare, and fortunately its high HP almost always guarantees it survives at least a hit.
Past that, Dunsparce just needs to hope it can continually flinch OR try to sneak in a "Roost" with the hopes that the opponent will miss or be fully paralysed.
hahah, I adore Dunsparce, because whilst a vast majority of the Pokemon Community believe that he's pathetic, dies to weak hits and toxic, and generally doesn't do anything, he can be amazing if you know how to use him. I still remember the time when my Dunsparce went up against my friend in local, who was using a tyranitar, the little bugger. I can still remember the look on his face when, after a while, i absoluteley thrashed him XD
do u know were i can get the wii LAN adapter? i wanna get one so i can battle ppl not rlly wi-fi cus lan adaper gives a wired connection but its still basicly the same eh? and im going to get this awsome game
Dunsparce has Leftovers now, actually. Back when this video was made I gave all my Pokemon thematic items. Dunsparce had a "Metronome" because... well, just look at its tail!
Roost has helped me out often enough, and I haven't come across many situations where Rock Slide was necessary. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
(Hold items appear to have no bearing on the Flinch Rate.)
They are separately resolved calculations, so it doesn't exactly work like that. For example, if somebody had to roll against a 1% chance 100 times, that does not constitute a 100% failure rate.
Still, 60% chance for a flinch, and a 25% chance for full paralysis is pretty awesome!
♥ This is one more reason that I love Dunsparce, and one more reason for YOU to join the Dunsparce Lovers Club! x3 I love Dunsparce. He owns and I made a plushie of him.

And what was the Iv. nature?
videosearcher1992 3 years ago
I bred for a max speed IV, gave her a Jolly nature, and maxed out speed and Hit Point EVs.
Yeah, it's a VERY weird spread - nobody cares to go for a fast Dunsparce, but I thought I'd try it. Most people boost the Attack stat instead.
(This is a demonstration video, so it skips around sometimes. I had a Bronzong using Confuse Ray, I think.)

Thunder Wave is generally the best paralyzing move. Body Slam, although it can hit Rock Types, doesn't have enough chance. Glare can paralyze 10% more than Body Slam, but the 10% isn't worth Body Slam's attack power.

WhiteKhakis 3 years ago
Sorry, what is your Dunsparce's nature and Evs? Could you tell me, please?
swhawk 3 years ago
It's not the usual...
It has a Jolly nature (boost in Speed) and has Max Speed and Health EVs.
Most people would just go for Attack rather than Speed.
WhiteKhakis 3 years ago
No Defences at all??? 138 Speed (Jolly, 31 IVs, 0 Evs) is more than enough to outrun a paralysed deoxys-e. I guess that I will raise mine's defences equally for increased lifetime. Anyways thank you for the useful information. One more question: With above-minimum offences, how much does it take to take down the non-steel opposing pokemon (Bite-Headbutt hits everything but some steel types with neutral damage)?
swhawk 3 years ago
The idea is that sometimes I don't want to bother with (or can't use) Thunder Wave. Also, I just wanted to try out a fast Dunsparce. Not the norm, but it's what I wanted. The Max HP in and of itself makes it so that Dunsparce can survive some of the most powerful attacks.
My Dunsparce, without the boost in attack, tends to take 4-10 turns to knock out a Pokemon that the attacks are neutral against. Just a rough estimate.
WhiteKhakis 3 years ago
Oh man, then Dunsparce's capacitity to survive is mostly because of the number of turns it takes to defeat one opponent. o_O.
The paraflinch strategy is really cool, but... I guess that Dunsparce is not for me :(
(and personally, I think togekiss is good too, despite being OU)
Anyways, your Dunsparce is pretty cool.
Thank you a lot for the useful information. Maybe I will train one in the future.

Perapsam 3 years ago
You can actually add up the "unable to move" calculations.
Bite or headbutt (30% average)
Serene Grace ability (double 30%= 60%)
Razor Fang (possibly 5 or 10% extra but correct me if i'm wrong, please)
Paralize Effect (25% chance unable to move)
All of that = a whopping 90/95% chance the opponent cannot move!, but you can stack Confusion and Attraction to make it impossible!
ChaosDemon2 3 years ago
(Hold items appear to have no bearing on the Flinch Rate.)
They are separately resolved calculations, so it doesn't exactly work like that. For example, if somebody had to roll against a 1% chance 100 times, that does not constitute a 100% failure rate.

With King's Rock, Serene Grace, Headbutt, and Paralysis, an opponent has about a 12-20% chance of attacking.
WashboardSam 4 years ago
Sounds good, but King's Rock isn't supposed to affect moves that already cause flinching.
WhiteKhakis 4 years ago
According to Bulbapedia, King's Rock increases Flinch Rate by 30% x (100% - percent chance of flinching).
That would mean it still increases Headbutt by 12% or 6% if it counts Serene Grace, which I don't think it does.
WashboardSam 4 years ago
I can't find that in the wiki, have a link (or directions)?
I've just gone with what the statistically and formula obsessed people of Smogon have said. They've determined that the King's Rock does not influence moves that already cause flinching, and that Serene Grace grants no bonus to the item either.
