...and after so many years which are passing by now I can hear that song without getting bored of it - so groovy so soulful and melodic. As a whitie I can be only thankful for the black heritage of music which touches my heart, when I was a boy of only ten and than never left me...Now I'm 57 and I regret nothing, when I still sing along to that song with my little children which are also falling in love with black music at all...
I grew up on FATS. That's just what we did back in Southeast Texas back in the Pre-Beatles '60s. I'll never stop liking what today is being labeled as "Swamp Pop". Note: Search: Gumbo Ron for my version of this "Classic" when I recently did it in Beaumont. P.S. to clockie... Man you Daddy wrote one hell of a song!!!
Whooooweee! Can't keep my feet still with this one. I love to sing along too. Ahhhhh, such wonderful memories of playing the old 45's over and over and over...... LOVE FATS killer smile! Millions of hours of joy, that man had brought to people all over the world.
@PaineLover. You're right!!! Great musicians, man and entertainer! I realy love his music. I saw him sixteen times live. And to day (febr 26) is Fats and my birthday! Happy birthday Fats.
My father wrote this song! It was a poem for his girlfriend, Josephine when he was 16! He sent the song into a competition and was accepted. He couldnt afford the copyright costs so sold his rights to the song and Fats Domino bought the rights from my dad for $600! My dad was issued a gold record, but didn't receive any royalties or credit!
your father isnt by any chance named jerry jaye is he? Because im also from the small town of manila and i seen jerry jaye play this song not to long ago and i still have the old record "Jerry Jaye and The Jaywalkers" the one with ben jack

I was in the same boat with a song that I recorded in 59. Your dad wrote a great song. It's been part of my show for many years
