  • HIT training certainly does work for getting the heart rate going and consequently burning fat in the least amount of time, but, can a person doing HIT hit the weights afterwards? I'm talking about a 15-20 min rest between HIT and weight training.

    Thanks, Dr. Clay.

  • Martynblackburn, this is just a suggestion but if you want to have more energy during weight training and burn more fat during cardio, hit the weights first to use up most of the carbs/sugars you've taken in before your workout, so that when you do cardio, your body goes straight to stored fat for a source of energy. Either way, if you're eating enough pre/post workout carbs and getting enough rest, it shouldn't have a negative effect. But you don't have to listen to me, that's just a suggestion

  • I tend not to eat anything before cardio; I do cardio on an empty stomach. The only thing I take before cardio is 2 cups of coffee and a small glass of grapefruit juice. I hit the weights last because for the time being my goal is to lose body fat that I gained over Christmas (the Fall).

  • ahhhh I see. Yeah when I do morning workouts on an empty stomach, I do cardio first, have half of a meal replacement shake immediately after, wait about 15-20 minutes like you said, then continue to sip the other half through my weight training session

  • After my cardio, I take 5-10 minutes rest and go straight onto the weights. If I drink a meal replacement in that time I'm likely to puke, so after weights I drink a sugary drink (cola is best apparently) and then have a good meal when I get home.

  • one question. can i do it in the morning before my breakfast? i do not want to burn my muscle.

  • ive been doing this for the last 2 months or so, ive added skipping to my training and i managed to lose 5 kilos in 2 months.

    Good video

  • ty doc

  • Thanks Doc. Your videos are truly inspiring. I'll use your videos as a foundation to guide me along my weight-loss journey.

  • You're very welcome! Glad to help!

    Dr Clay

  • thanks a ton.

  • You're welcome!

  • Thanks for the tip & I want to ask you if I can build muscles while losing fat? I heard that you cant do that even if you take a lot of protein because while losing fat you are in a calorie deficit & building muscles require you to have an excess of calories, is that true if not how can I do both?

  • hey dude yeh i think its right u cant build musel wile losing fat coz i lost like 3 stone and even though i kept my protine realy high i still think i lost a bit a musel but 1 thing u can do is cycle it so do a couple of months of musel gain and the do a coulple of mounths of fat loss

  • You can do both, but it is tough. I'm finishing a book that will answer this.

  • thank you for sharing. i look forward to more videos! ;)

  • Thanks!

  • Got 1 question some ppl say do up to 30 mins HIIT some 45 mins some 6 intervals some say rest 2 mins go up fast 1 min i wonder how much should u do.And is it bad if u do HIIT Like at the morning then slow cardio at night and do this 7 days a week or am i gonna get heart attack :P :) Ty hope u answer.

  • There are different ways to do it and none are right or wrong, really. But you can't go wrong do 30 sec all-out followed by a 60 sec cool-down. 12 of those and you're set!

  • Great vid. Do you have any tips for making cardio fun? I lift weights 6 days a week, but i would also like to do cardio each day to loose some weight, but i don't seem to get same "kick" from cardio as i do from weightlifting.

  • Listen to an audio book. Works for me!

  • Yep, if you push yourself hard, you can elevate your metabolism for up to 24 hours!

  • great tip dident know about the 24h think
