  • I would pay to see this done in CGI/Animated with a big budget and as many of the original voice actors as possible. Need new BG and Buck Rodgers Animated Movies NOW!!!

  • @TREBONIANVS There were rumors that Bryan Singer was trying to revive his continuation of the original series "Galactica," but as long as SyFy keeps making spin-offs from their reboot I don't see it happening. Frank Miller was set to direct a new version of "Buck Rogers," but after his movie version of "The Spirit" bombed the project was shelved. As far as I know, no one other than fans are making animated versions of either franchise. Thanks for writing!

  • What's the music that's running during the CGI version of the Battle of Cimtar towards the beginning of the video? It's hard to hear it because of the overlay of audio from BSG. From what I could hear of it, I liked it.

  • @scifisurfer I only used four pieces of music in the video: The Battlestar Galactica Main Theme and The Buck Rogers Theme, both by Stu Philips and Glen Larson; the Main Theme from the original "V" Miniseries by Joe Harnell; and the "Crash Sequence" theme from the "Lost in Space" movie by Bruce Broughton. The one you're asking about is most likely from "V" by Joe Harnell. It has a very ominous, apocalyptic vibe. I hope this info helps. Thanks for writing!

  • This is the real end of Battllestar Galactica ! Not so bad end like Battlestar Galactica 2000! i like this fan movie so much ... It`s like a dream .. there come be true Thank you so much...

  • @HollyHue The end of SyFy's "Battlestar Galactica" was a bit strange. It left questions open that should have been answered, but I still liked it. I'm glad you enjoyed watching this video. I had a lot of fun putting it together and I enjoy getting feedback from fans of both shows. Thanks for writing!

  • yeah. the episode was also notable because alot of the dwarf actors were popular character actors. the actor that played the black dwarf is still appearing in new movies too!

  • Mind you all that at one point the cylons were mentioned by name! It was in the second season episode with the psychic dwarves on the wrecked solar bomb transport.

  • @allegretto2500 They were? Really? I have the "Buck Rogers" series on DVD, but I haven't watched too many of the episodes yet. I'll have to pay special attention when I watch that episode. Thanks for writing, and for the tip!

  • Would have been so much better than Galactica 1980. That stunk. In fact, would have been cool for the Galactica to meet the Searcher in the middle of outer space.

  • @psxwarrior Yeah, it would have been fun ... but the shows were a few years apart and on different networks so I guess this is the only way to see them together. I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for writing.

  • I remember finding this video when I was in sixth grade four years ago. Man it was an inspiring story because I'm actually working on my own fanfilm named after the website Space Battles.com. It's a site where fans of all kinds of sci-fi get together and write fanfiction or make CGI Animated movies. I'm also really into Sci-Fi mashups like this. In my story, in a nutshell the worlds of the old Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Halo, Stargate, and Star Wars coming together in battle.

  • @JohnBachofer That sounds like a fun but really complicated story. Putting elements from all those sci-fi shows will be a challenge, but it won't be short on action, that's for sure. Goos luck with your project and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for writing!

  • fantastic, very impressive !

  • @hatize Thank you very much!

  • Ive had an idea where Buck, Wilma, and the crew of the Searcher encounter the planet Starbuck has been stranded on. He ends up joining the Searchers crew.

  • That's not a bad idea, as long as you ignore as much of "Galactica: 1980" as possible. Thanks for writing!

  • Nice little crossover.

  • Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.

  • Tight! Even kind of majestic!

  • Wow! Thank you very much! I really appreciate it. Thanks for writing.

  • You know... the only way I can see a Galactica/Star Trek crossover working properly is if it's set during the time Voyager was in the Delta Quadrant and still badly damaged...

  • I think there may actually be a fanfilm about Voyager encountering the Galactica out there somewhere. I'd be surprised if someone hadn't done that, actually. Thanks for writing!

  • I'm glad I wasn't the only dorky kid who thought of this instead of paying attention. How about a Star Trek crossover, you know, where the Enterprise wipes out all the Cylons with 3 photon torpedoes and then tells Adama that his mission was pointless because the Federation has more humans than all the 12 colonies had before the Cylon attack?

  • Gee, that's a bit of a downer message, isn't it? I'd like to think that the Federation would welcome the people of the rag tag fleet, regardless of their small population. In any case, there are already some fun Trek/Glactica crossovers out there that are very well done. Thanks for writing!

  • The federation would be more then happy to help the colonists but what would the Klingons and Romulans think about the cylons who would attack them to becuase they are also living beings

  • Well, the Cylons really only seemed to be interested in destroying the human race, not all life. They worked with the Ovions to set a trap for the fleet, and they were living creatures. Still, a battle between Klingons, Romulans and Cylons would be one heck of a throw-down, that's for sure. Thanks for writing!

  • have you considered making a version 2.0 of this fine video? may i suggest for the huer/adama scene that you look to the "war witch" episode of Buck Rogers. Huer had alot of screen time in that ep and some scenes i think would match well.

  • I have been considering a sequel to this trailer, but I won't get to it until several other projects are out of the way. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for your suggestions, and for writing!

  • This would have been sooo much better than that Ron Moore reimagination!!! I can't wait until PC studio production is good enough for some fan to write this story for real!

  • I really like the new BSG, but it would have been fun to see a real Galactica/Buck Rogers team-up. Thanks for writing!

  • what software did you use to make this with

  • I used 3D MAX 8 for all the CGI and edited everything in Adobe Premiere.

  • I grew up in a world before PCs 70s,80s

and now, I continue to be awed at services like Youtube, allowing regular people to create near cinema quality CGIs

    this was awesome!

  • Same here. I'm a definite late-comer to all of this stuff, but I'm having a lot of fun. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you very much for writing.

  • I would watch this !!!!!!!!!!

  • You just did!!!! Seriously, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for writing!

  • 1. When the original series was cancelled we were one or two episodes away from a critical reveal. Apollo and Starbuck would have found a cache hidden by the Silent One prisoner from the Ambrosia making prison planet. this cache would have contained artifacts from 20th century Earth and possibly would have contained the transmitter broadcasting the Apollo Moon Landing video.

    2. The Cylons WERE MENTIONED in a second season episode of Buck Rogers. It was the episode with the psychic dwarves.

  • I didn't know about either of these details, especially the Cylon reference on "Buck Rogers." This may require some investigation. Thanks for the info!

  • This was a great video! I love the concept. In fact I think a whole new T.V. series could be developed along these lines with the new BSG. That is on the scifi channel. Super GOOD WORK!!! Thank you formaking this!!!

  • It would be a real kick in the butt if Ron Moore had Buck and Wilma show up on Earth in the new BSG, wouldn't it? That would send the show in a whole new direction! Alas, it's just wishful thinking, but it is fun! Glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • I always thought these 2 series might be headed towards each other. Since it was never revealed what year Galactica might find earth(I do not count Galactica 1980-that was a mistake worth forgetting) they could easily find it in the 25th century. In Buck Rogers' final season, they sought out the missing colonies of man-why not meet in the middle and unite to destroy the cylon threat? Great job on the video!

  • It certainly would have been cool. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for writing!

  • Awesome crossover fan film idea! Are you close to actually making it?

  • I never planned on making an entire film based on this idea, just a fake preview for a non-existent movie. Of course, if some other ambitious fan wants to take up the reins and make a whole movie, I'd love to see it.

I'm glad you enjoyed the preview. Thanks for writing.

  • Danke für dieses geile Video meine Traum ist erfüllt! GRosses KINO! BUCK ROGERS und BATTLESSTAR GALAACTICA gegen die Zylonen endlich werden die Kolonien geraecht. GROSSES LOB

  • Danke!

  • Wowee!

  • Glad you liked it! Thanks for writing!

  • If there's any flaw to your video at all, it is that the fan part is so much better than the professional part, hehe.

  • Well, 25 years of advancement in special effects technology will do that ;-)

I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • Great job with this video!

  • Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to write.

  • This would have been a much better idea then Galactica 1980

  • Thank you! Of course, "Muffett Come Home" would have been a better idea than Galactica 1980, too, but what can ya do? I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing.

  • Awesome job! I wonder how Buck and Starbuck would of gotten along?

I think it would be better if you had Baltar and the Cylons teaming up with Princess Ardala. Glen Larson should of done something like this instead of Galactica 1980, it would of been very do-able back then.

  • Except for the fact that the shows were on different networks. Perhaps I'll make a sequel to this with Baltar and Ardala teaming up one of these days. I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • Yeah that was actually pretty cool!

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it!

  • Thank you very much. I really appreciate that you took the time to write! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Brilliant! I must say that this fan film seems more proficiently done than the lot of those professionally produced today. Quite a pity, really. This would make for a fantastic movie, I must say!

  • You know, this was disturbingly fun. -:)

  • Yeah, it's just beyond plausible, which is fun and a little disturbing :-) I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for writing!

  • adding the music from V the Final Battle was a great touch. for an extended version i suggest these scenes. show dr huer when adama is saying that the cylons hate humans.

maybe also make a reference to how sheba looks exactly like buck's old girlfriend. is she a cylon? hehehe.

  • I considered using a reverse shot of Huer during that discussion with Adama, but couldn't find a shot of him where the background matched adequately. As for Sheba, as far as I'm concerned it's "don't ask, don't tell."

  • Part 2!!!! Part 2!!!!! i wanna sequel!!!

  • I'm considering a sequel or an expansion of this story. We'll see what develops. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for writing!

  • Galactica ramming a basestar? oohhhh i wish this was a movie lol

  • Thanks! And how surprised was I when the makers of the new Galactica show had the Pegasus ram a Basestar last year. I wonder where they got that idea...

Seriously, I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • so you invented the concept of ramming?

  • Actually, I was joking, as punctuated by the word "seriously" after my obviously ridiculous allegation.

Your point is taken, however. Henceforth, I'll use "smilies" to make sure no one misunderstands the content of my replies. Oh wait, here comes one now... >*/

  • This is WONDERFUL! Absolutely fantastic job of blending footage and exceptionally good work on the enhanced CGI FX. This would have made for a wildly entertaining film.

  • Thank you very much! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it and I appreciate that you took the time to write.

  • absolutely should have been done, it would have made more sense to BSG to find earth in Br25th, then to go the galactica-80 route, which sucked.

  • It would have been cool, wouldn't it? Lorne Greene and Tim O'Connor vying for "Wisest Elder Statesman." Dirk Benedict and Gil Gerard arguing over who's the bigger Ladies' Man. Anne Lockhart and Erin Gray in a knock down, drag out catfight. It would have been glorious! Thanks for writing!

  • Man I love how you made this.....2 of my favorite shows growing up. Good work and much respect.

  • Thank you very much. Your comments are much appreciated.

  • i loved the way you combined the two stories together i grew up watching both shows and loved them both mainly because i'm a huge huge star wars fan. those were the only 2 shows that even came close.

  • I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to write.

  • yes but who knows which theme tune this is?????any ideas??? its from "V" also a very good 80,s mini film

  • You've got a good ear. The music was perfect for the attack sequence. Nice work picking it up. Thanks for writing!

  • That was great.

  • Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • I thought this was great

This is the way it should of happened

These are both Glen Larson productions and i'm sure it would of helped the Buck Rogers ratings at the time and possibly bought in a whole new show.

  • It certainly would have been fun to see, but since Galactica was an ABC show and Buck Rogers was on NBC, I doubt it ever could have happened. I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • Nice nice nice!!!! Yeh makes sense with the ships & props of Battlestar and Buck Rogers being recycled between the two. And I recognized the background sound effects of "Rescue", the Star Trek game for the Mac! :D

  • Hey, I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for taking the time to write.

  • Very nice. Another one for the favorites!! I completely enjoyed that preview. Keep up the good work!

  • Thank you very much! I'm really glad you liked it. Thanks a lot for writing.

  • i'm currently doing a Logans Run--1984--Battlestar Galactica crossover film called SpaceDisco One

  • Okay, now that sounds...interesting. Let me know when it's done and posted here. Thanks for writing!

  • nah dude, can't use that name. i got that reserved for my space 1999/dr who hook up.

  • Okay, I know how to settle this. Pookie67 and piper77, go to your respective corners, and when the bell sounds, come out DANCIN'!

  • Not bad at all. You mixed the scenes together pretty well, esp. when characters from the two shows are talking to each other.

  • Those scenes really help sell the whole concept. I was very happy they turned out so well. Glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • I'm surprised you didn't include Princess Ardala in here.

The Draconia would be more than a match for a Cyclon Basestar, IMO.

  • I did think about including Ardala and the Draconia, but the preview was already running long so I lef them out. Of course, there could always be a sequel...

Thanks for taking the time to write!

  • Actually, to be more precise, the music isn't from "V", but from the inferior sequel, "V - The Final Battle." I always loved the opening title music, used here. Very cool and eerie.

  • You're absolutely right. I'm just too lazy to bother writing all that every time. The sequel was indeed inferior, but it was still miles better than the weekly TV series. Thanks for writing!

  • Awesome stuff, like how Wilma's talking to Apollo and Sheba to Buck. Graphics certainly are good.

  • Those scenes really help sell the idea of the crossover. I was lucky to find ones that spliced together well. Thanks for writing!

  • Actually, the Sheba talking to Buck is from an actual episode of Buck Rogers. I was watching it on DVD last week, and Anne Lockhart, who played Sheba, guest starred on this particular Buck Rogers episode. I don't know if anybody else caught this or not, but both shows actually used the same shuttle.

  • Good catch! As soon as I found that clip of Anne Lockhart guest-starring on "Buck Rogers" I knew I could use it since Galactica fans would see her as Sheba. And both shows did use the same shuttle model as well, which is why the Buck Rogers version disn't make it into this preview. Thanks for writing!

  • This was interesting. I like how you used a bit of music from "V" the final battle. nice touch.

  • A few people have noticed that I used music from "V," which is surprising. I didn't think it was that well known, even among sci-fi fans. I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • Loved the video, it was terrific to watch and in a way ironic, because when Battlestar was cancelled and after Galactica 1980 Glen Larson was asked for another sci-fi show. Well, guess what he thought of Buck Rogers!! The Buck Rogers episodes use a lot of audio, laser fire etcetera culled from Battlestar Galactica. Buck Rogers was popular too a shame Galactica wasnt given much of a chance. Again loved your video.

  • Thanks! There were a lot of similarities between the two shows. Even the Starfighters from Buck Rogers was originally an early design for the Galactica's vipers. Those similarities are one of the reasons this crossover works so well. Thanks for writing!

  • Thats just plain COOL!

  • Thank you very much! I'm really glad you liked it. Thanks for writing.

  • Every now and then, I like to come back and watch this. :D

  • Thanks, Jack. I always appreciate having regular visitors. Good to see you here again!

  • I'm a second generation fan of both shows and just let me say I've already considered a crossover for the two series, if I ever become a film maker and open up a television studio for Galactic Productions, I'll work to the ends of the earth to get a decent resolution to both of these fantastic television series.

  • Wow, and I thought my little preview was a big undertaking. Best of luck to you on that. Thanks for writing!

  • People have been dreaming of these "Series Meet Series" concepts for years. Now digital technology has advanced to the point where dreams posses a glimpse at reality.

  • Or is it technology making dreams manifest in reality? A very poetic thought, indeed. Thanks for writing!

  • Now this is something I'd pay $11 to see! Thanks!

  • Gee, if I had known that, I wouldn't have posted here for free ;-) Thanks for writing!

  • I prefer Buck Rogers.

  • Apparently so does Lt. Sheba ;-)

  • i heard a little "v" in there...

  • Yes you did. Good ears! I've always liked that music and it fit well with the scene so I dropped it in. Thanks for writing!

  • Love it. Sadly, I'd actually watch the film.

  • If you think about it, by throwing out the cheesiness both shows fell into and doing it as straight action oriented sci-fi, then the premise would actually be really cool. Thanks for writing!

  • I was never a Twiki fan. That's why I used the clip of him caught in the explosion (hee, hee!) I'm glad you liked the video, and thanks for writing!

  • LOL! Love it! Love it! It would have been MUCH better if Twiki had taken on a Cylon... because we know he'd have kick their metal butts!!! No, seriously, good stuff....

  • Excellent

  • Thank you, sir! Glad you liked it.

  • Excellent editing work. Loved the music you used from a V mini-series during the Caprica attack.

  • Thank you very much! The music from "V" has that great "impending doom" quality that made it perfect during the attack on Caprica. Glad you liked the video.

  • you people can't be serious....granted it's kinda fun to watch....but really....a feature length film. i'll pass.

  • What, and miss all that kitsch? I'm glad you thought it was "kinda fun to watch." That's all it's supposed to be. Thanks for writing!

  • For the sequel you gotta include FLASH GORDON!

  • I like that idea! With two scenery-chomping bad guys like Max Von Sydow's Ming and John Colicos' Baltar, how could you go wrong? I'm gonna give this some thought. Thanks for writing!

  • Wow! This was awsome! A idea that I never thought of, but makes so much sense.

  • Thank you very much! I really appreciate your comments. Glad you liked it.

  • Very very good a cross over between these two is very plausable, what you did their beat the socks off G1980 handsdown.

  • Thanks! The number of comments I've received on this really surprised me. I'm glad so many people like it. Thanks for taking the time to write.

  • Good Job! A fan-boy's dream come true. Glen A. Larson would be tickled to see this. It all fits together nicely. Far better than Galactica 1980 ever was. On the other hand you could probably rip some sounds and clips from that series and add it to this creation.

  • Thank you very much! If Mr. Larson ever saw this, I do hope he'd like it. As for Galactica: 1980, the less said the better. I'll accept anything that discredits that series as canon in the original BSG universe. Thanks for writing!

  • wow, i thought i was the only geek on the planet that's been wishing for this film

  • You actually seem to be in pretty good company, judging from the comments above. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for writing!

  • Sorry for my langguage... Who ever fuck that got the idea... you can be a film maker babe! That my credit on you!

  • Thanks for the compliment, and for writing!

  • Well, what the hell? It's no less implausible than Galactica 1980, and it's a damn sight better. I think the Cylons would need more than one Basestar to destroy Earth, though. :) Nice job.

  • You're probably right about the basestars, but I didn't waqnt to stack the odds to greatly against our heroes ;-) I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for writing!

  • Great video! Thanks for putting so much care and time into your production. I really enjoyed it.

  • I really appreciate your comments. It took a lot of time to pull clips that fit together naturally and I'm happy to see my little film get such a positive response. Thanks for writing!

  • Fantastic!

I can't wait to see the feature length film! ;)

  • Ah, if only...

That's why I make these things; to give fans a little glimpse into what might have been.

Thanks for taking the time to write!

  • Wow, this is really cool. The hair stood up on the back of my neck.

  • Holy Cow! That's precisely the kind of reaction I was hoping people would have. I'm very glad you liked it so much. Thanks for writing!

  • I remember when I was 4 or 5 drawing what it if scenarios of Cylons vs. Buck Rogers, etc., and now to finally see what it might look like is awesome.

  • Wow! That's high praise indeed. I really appreciate your comments. Thanks for taking the time to write.

  • wow that is pretty cool, did you do some of your own cgi?

  • Yes, all of the CGI effects are my own. I used models I built myself and others I obtained from 3D internet websites. Thanks for writing!

  • I've waited 20 years to see that!

  • I'm glad it lived up to your expectations. Thanks for writing!

  • Okay, that's really good, I do like it, great idea as well.

  • Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
