I have one of these he leaves out all the obvious and awfull aspects of it. Ill complete this review. Brake pedal is too far left it makes it feel like a game of twister to brake and this is the same on all subarus. The seatbelt is far to high on the waist with no adjustable lever. The engine has pinged since it was brand new.No proper license mounting frame or integrated system. Few windsheild wiper settings.Narrow seats. Subaru is a poor make. They have some good ideas about cars but cant deliver

I have one and it sucks bad, worst thing is the break pedal is so far left that it makes drving it tiring and annoying. Bad engineering and lack of customer satisfaction leads me to deem it a peice of junk. Safe my ass I dont feel safe in this thing at all subaru boasts about its top safety picks but they dont mention they have to have 5 star crash ratings because you wont be able to stop after while from such a horrible brake pedal postion!
My mom bought a 2010 Legacy two months ago and we've already clocked over 3200 miles. I love driving it, and the HK audio system and heated seats make it even more fun to drive. If I could afford any new car, it'd probably be the forester...:) We got the Subie because of a friend's suggestion (she has an 08 WRX) and couldn't be happier.
I'm DEFINITELY considering getting a Subaru as my next car. Impreza and Forester are my top choices. I believe the Impreza wagon will be the best for me, but if I wanna get an SUV, I'll get a Forester. Japan makes the best engines & vehicles and they are super reliable and the Japanese put a lot of effort to make these vehicles great. My favs are Toyota and Subaru.
I just bought one, I have mixed feelings about it. In some ways its good and in some ways I dont like it. One of the things I hate the most the the placement of the seatbelt buckle in the drivers seat. The buckle does not have any sliding movement to allow the driver to move it to their comfort level. The passengers side does, this makes no sense to me. I could say more but for a youtube comment this will be enough!
@samuraikenshin17491 Its only in the US where there is no manual turbo models. Everywhere else there is the option. Great car the XT manual, really powerful with all the reliability, practicality and saftey of a Subaru. I would highly recommend one. Very good cars. Also not half bad off road too for a Cmopact SUV.
@taza11659 really? damn now i am jelous! is that americans are just lazy to use the manual transm? they should give the consumers some options now! it is always better to use manual on off roads..
@daveako03 Also 84% of america drive auto cars. Thats just lazy to me. lol I love my manual Forester. Its so fun to drive even though it is an N/A engine. Mine spends half its life offroad. Thats one of the great things about living in the aussie outback :)
I bought a 2010 Forester XT and can not believe how much I like it. I am a Honda man but this has more leg room than our 2008 CR-V. That is a big deal to a 6'4"
my wife has an 08 X3 which I've driven many times, but my brother came home with one of these new Subarus and I like it better... just dont tell my wife.
I saw a picture, one picture, in the Road&Track edition for August of the Forester STI that Subaru made just for fun to see how it would look and run. Like I said they did it for fun...thanks Sub hehehe.
I had 3 Ford Escapes, always thought they were the best on earth, then I drove this and... I loved it. I went into the showroom and saw the sage green 09, wrapped my arms around it, then told the guy, I want this one
we got a rav4 and i wish we had this instead. i have to sit in the back and it is so cramped compare to that and we paid more money for it. is the forestar available in ireland were i live coz if it is i will tell my mom to get one next time we get a different car
I got the base model a few months ago and LOVE this vehicle. It does 'growl' nice with the dual exhaust, is rock solid on the road and very comfortable to drive. We test drove the CR-V and Rav4, and they don't come close to comparing.
I also find it extremely quiet on the highway, which is good...as we're going on an epic car ride this summer.
As an added note, our 2 teenage girls love the back seat. Roomy, and a nice seat angle for them.
I've been reading up and looking at all small SUVs. The Forester caught my eye with its AWD standard and off road ability, for the weekend warrior in me, that is a sale. I can't wait to own this.
I should add that if road noise bothers you, the Forester is a bit noisy at highway speeds. It is worth it to put in sound deadening in the car--esp the doors. It gets even better when you do the floors and wheel wells. Plus your stereo will sound a ton better and you'll be able to listen more clearly at lower volumes.
Great review. I bought a 2009 XT Limited and I'm sooo happy with it. I did a lot of research on what to buy and the Forester always won.
My only complaint is the stereo system is not premium. I replaced the speakers and I'm going to buy the Kenwood 9140 nav system. I also put in Hush Mat in the doors and Damplifier pro on the floors and wheel wells. Now this car is everything I dreamed of!! I can't wait for winter ski season!

I don't think his phrases were meant to be funny. In my eyes, he was merely lightening the mood so that it wasn't the feared 'boring review' that everyone seems to hate these days. I agree, it was a good review - good amount of information..ish. I'm one of the few people who could easily enjoy a review without any jokes or random analogies.

im not gonna lie. that comment about the forester being the "little guy" that has hairs on his chest and in "a couple other places too" was a bit gross. and the fact he delivered that anthropomorphic statement with a straight face is a little creepy. anyway, the forester may be much improved and more capable all around but it's styling inside and out ranges from bland to just fugly. its styling desperately needs a testosterone INJECTION..
wow, "skills"? Really? I wasn't confused, for your info. Since you jumped into conclusion and not knowing, fully, what I meant. What I meant was Why would he refer to others as "lesser competitors"? C'mon, it's a subie, for Pete's sake. Why not just say "other competitors"?
