  • I have to say they are all great! Jeff Beck-WOW!

  • Considering the room should have EXPLODED for having so many LEGENDARY musicians in one place, I would think they would have used a better recording rig!

  • @callergrim how come you forgot to mention Mark Knopfler?

  • The Three Yardbird guitarists. Priceless!!!

  • Jimmy playing a Tele? What next

  • @An0n3mu55 stairway to heaven...

  • @Roulikos I thought he played his EDS 1275 on Stairway-you know, 12-string for the rhythm and verses, 6-string for the solo.

  • @An0n3mu55 the double-neck was used for the lives...the solo in the studio was recorded with a 1959 fender telecaster

  • @An0n3mu55 Well, he played one in the Yardbirds, & the entire first Zepplin album was recorded on a tele into a tiny Supro brand amp.

  • The biscuit kicked in ok then Roy? Great man.

  • Looks like Chris Stainton on piano (a regular in Clapton's touring band). Ray Cooper (as already mentioned, and a former Elton John band regular) on the gong and tambourine. A brilliant version.

  • Looks like Chris Stainton on piano (a regular in Clapton's touring band). Ray Cooper (as already mentioned, and a former Elton John band regular) on the gong and tambourine.

  • its not really the stones, its Bill Wyman on bass and Charlie Watts on one drum kit... others it didnt mention on stage are Kenny Jones on second drum kit, Andy Fairweather Low on guitar and vox, Ray Cooper on percusion and Stevie Winwwod on organ... if anyone know the pianist let me know cus thats the only one I dont recognise :/

  • There was a snowstorm that night, lol!

  • Gong guy = awesome

  • wonderful

  • is that keith soloing

  • The crowd seem pretty happy. Why was that, I wonder. Oh wait, it's because there were more legends on stage for one song than there were in the charts in the whole of 2010.

  • hhaaahaha their laughing at the guy at the gong it sound out of place at the outro

  • SO many incredible R&R musicians on one stage. Amazing!

    It's the same song !

  • Ooh god, I would give my feet to be at that concert

  • A bunch of old mates having a great time together. Oh yeah, and they were all playing their mate's song. How good was that!

  • The guy behind them is having a good time with the tambourine and the gong..

    Youth pains that reappear.

  • on shit saw bill wyman loughing ;D

  • Dear YouTube, There is a Dislike button on this page. Please fix this bug.

  • Percussioist is Ray Cooper who played a lot with Elton John. Second drummer is Kenny Jones who played in the Small Faces/Faces and the Who.

  • Looks like someone has stolen the show ??? If you know who I mean ....;)

  • All that's missing is George Harrison.

  • Does this really have to end?

  • 5:31 haha everyone's watchin the percussionist

  • es la segunda vercion de layla q me gusta i like layla

  • @bgsfansmusic take that back it's steve winwood

  • Comment removed

  • GONG MAN FTW!!!

  • Certainly that's right, but that's nothing new! Still, love it!

  • Do you notice that Charlie's head barely moves even at that tempo.

  • Wow!!! :)

  • Tempo's pretty up there

  • 1:01 I think they disconnected page (Look at the guy behind page closely)... lol he was way to high >.< still... love it.

  • @Voughtrazer ahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • the bong-man should have get fired...

  • @gonnwall You should be fired, its called gong

  • @BAUMausHOLZ ..and?? no matter what its called, obviously u didnt get the point

  • QUIEN ES CAPAZ DE PONER QUE NO LE GUSTA ESTO????

  • OMg - all my revered ancestors!

  • so many great musicians! its like the expendables of 60's/70's/80's rock stars

  • @Expendable2010 apart from the fact that it is good, the film is shit, i'm sorry to say

  • @somonelse666

what else would you like in an eighties/nineties action movie throwback? oscar acting? good storytelling? please. and the comment wasn't meant to focus on the expendables it was highlighting the awesomeness of these guys all playing at the same show.

  • /watch?v=UDwLDnpiNM4 Gienek loska xfactor

  • The best version yeah they are gods

  • Does anyone else think Clapton here looks like Desmond Hume in Lost ?

  • @metalet Desmond who?

  • @DJBBQ David Desmond Hume. Penny's husband.

  • Jeff Beck lives right down the street from me, and is actually one of the nicest guys I have ever met. You would never know he's famous. He lives in SW Colorado now.

  • I think he wrote this song about a girlfriend of Georg Harrison....later Eric was in love with her.Layla.

  • Will the Real Eric and the Dynamos Please Stand Up!!!...

  • & mark knopfler

  • ray cooper must be the happier and coller man on the world.

  • Eric Clapton is a definite hottie!

  • fuck clapton

    fuck page

    fuck jeff beck

THE GONG PLAYER IS A FUCKING BEAST :D

  • I hate Jimmy Page, always grabbing attention from everybody else. If you notice he's not really playing anything, just grabbing the guitar neck randomly.

  • @rickgonz99 and you just swore in church buddy;). Seriously, if you look at Zeppelin recordings, you'll see that his playing style looks like that

  • Crimen Sollicitationis

  • Another great thing about Clapton... never bogarts the solo spaces on his own song. I dont think I he solos once during the slow break down at the end.

  • does anyone know who the drummer is? ok, this is AMAZING!!

  • @sadiemyladie96 Rolling Stones's Charlie Watts

  • @hiteshiitk sweet! thanks so much :)

  • This is the Ronnie Lane "Arms" Concert, right? Just checking, excellent performance.

  • Great version...amazing how well theyn synch up

  • The guy playing the gong doesn't get enough credit.

  • @SatraKien The guy playing the gong is on cocaine... but he missed the song..

  • I'd kill to have these guys in my backup band. lol

  • 0:44 Andy Fairweather Low telling the band to slow down :DDD

  • @JusticieroDeLaMuerte actually hes telling them to turn it down because the rhythm section is drowning out the vocals... hence jimmy turning down his volume knob

  • I just LOVE the way Jimmy Page ends the solo!!! :o

  • EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the best version of this song ever!

Clapton himself is accelerated by Jeff Beck and forgets to stay slowhanded!

    :-)

Charlie Watt is highly amused! I've never seen before his face smiling so happy while drumming!

  • The greatest Layla I've ever heard and seen ! Great clip. The song ends in such a victorious crescendo that sounds like they just won World War III .

  • first time ever, ive seen a gong at a concert.

  • is that steve windwood beside eric clapton

  • @melfriend7 i thinks he's Andy fairweather low

  • Of all the crazy clothing musicians wear, a dozen of the best here ripping it in spiffy suits and what have you. Classy and talented, Clapton always just oozed coolness.

  • that guy on percussion is crazy....

  • Thanks. That's all that I can say watching this video....

  • Well that's put a smile on my face :)

  • Seen lots of mention of Charlie Watts, but no one's mentioned Bill Wyman, the Stones bass guitarist. What an awesome assembledge of Rock Giants. Thanks for posting!

  • I love the way Jimmy Page moves, when playing the guitar!

  • @rbkpetroleo cos he's totally wasted probably.

  • @hazbutler Probably he's, but that movement is characteristic in him since the Led Zeppelin's time. :-)

  • @rbkpetroleo that's cause he's hammered!

  • @bigbiggedybigman LOL :-))

  • @rbkpetroleo He looks wasted

  • @supercritical Certainly that's right, but that's nothing new! Still, I love it!

  • jimmys fucked up

  • loool bald guy 1:10

  • Year 1975 ????

  • eric clapton is bad mother fcker, and to top everything, he banged Carla Bruni, daaaaamn

  • @piscolabis16 im so sick of trolls!!

  • @beatlesbiggestfan100 what are trolls? i didnt have the intention in my comment to say something bad. why do u react like this?

  • @piscolabis16 you called clapton a mother fcker and trolls are people whosay negative things about certain things, usualy musicians, just to get bad attention, and sorry, i guess that isnt what you are doing.

  • Killer song!!! What an amazing group of musicians. Ah, the 60's & 70's...good times & GREAT music!!

  • lol

  • i wonder if anyone told that idiot page they turned his amp mick off , anyway he seems happy enough wandering around there full of drugs

  • @AshStrat1 There is usually a good reason for that.

  • The drummer is Kenney Jones who was in the Who and the Small Faces. The performance is from the ARMS benefit concert for Ronnie Lane from the Small Faces.

  • @Quasi8 Also The Faces

  • hey, the drummers for this bit, i recognize charlie watts from the stones, but the other drummer, on the left, is that nick mason of pink floyd? i only got to see him for a split second, but if anyone could tell me, that would be great. thanks. great song btw.

  • Check the dude out on the gong. Beating the crap out of it.

  • @Lacoona that "dude" is Ray Cooper, one of the best percussionists around.

  • 1:10 hahaha

  • Hey!!! Stevie Winwood and Kenney Jones are also there!!!! That's like the best band ever... haha

  • @santy300 its Nicky Hopkins--the hair, also Stevie would be singing

  • Is that Winwood playing the organ?

  • Wow!

  • Who is this person? time 0:35

  • @suwatto2

This has been speculated and argued about a lot in the comments section. Certainly looks a lot like the young Mark Knopfler. The manerisms are also there. Could be Andy Fairweather Low but since I'm not an expert on such matters I'll have to leave you in uncertainty. In other words, like most other commentators, I don't really know. I wasn't there unfortunately ! :-)

  • @paulreeve That is indeed Andy Fairweather Low...was his first collaboration with EC...it;s the 1985 ARMS Concert.

  • @paulreeve it was in 1983

  • at this speed i dont like the song as much when it's played at its original speed

  • Se caisse uma bomba nesse palco tinha acabado o rock no mundo!!!

  • friggin' dueschbag hitting the gong...

  • if that isn't knopfler, that's not clapton.

  • Which one are you saying is Mark Knopfler? cause i'm pretty sure he isn't there....

    (could be wrong)

  • Omg, the lead guitarist is so fucking out of tempo! That's clearly too fast for him

  • I thought that today's most songs on billboard charts are dead after listening to this video.

  • Looks like Jimmy needs the toilet pretty bad

  • Jimmy is hopped up on some serious shit...

  • the luxe

  • Imho there's no Ginger Baker (Ray Coper absolutely), Winwood is there! Beck is on EC's the very left and the "Blue Jacket" man isn't Knopfler - it's not the way MK do "it" on the stage and the main idea - itsn't finger pickin. To be honest he does look like MK depends on the shoot angle and light.

Anyway the video is awsome! thanx!

  • @2307nike ye i dont think it looks like him either

  • @2307nike I guess Charlie Watts just won't do...

  • @2307nike Pretty sure it's Knophler

  • @wslyder Completely sure it's not Mark!

Andy Fairweather Low - somebody's noted out already this sometime before

  • @2307nike Dude... look at the tags and eat your words. It is most certainly Mark Knophler in the blue smoking jacket.

  • @wslyder It's looks like there's no sense to argue. It's a waste of time. Because all you do is looking through the tags. Probably some glasses would do. I know he's Fairweather Low but NOT Mark Knop(!)fler. Use some search engine to find out what is Amen Corner. That's it, dude.

  • @2307nike OK, "dude", I stand corrected. I watched several other videos and it is quite likely the man in question is FL and not MK. I was amazed at his resemblence on many videos to Knophler. It appears that FL has played on stage with Clapton on many occasions.

  • @wslyder

Andy FL was Clapton's No1 axe man for a number of years.

  • what about the madman on that big brass thing ? looks like a school taecher goin nuts

  • @babykyle1000

That I believe is Ray Cooper, Percussionist extraordinaire. He's had worked with many people. He was on the Concert for George Harrison and worked with The Who when they did Quadrophenia with Billy Idol as Cousin Kevin and Phil Collins as Uncle Ernie.

  • Onyl the gods

  • @narnode...dont think knophler was trin to slow it dwn....think sumthin went wrong with his guitar...ull c a guy comin up later on to untangle the wires or sumthin....superlike tho...thanks for uploadin the vid

  • how can 13 ppl dislike??? this is my fav version, like it more than original, much faster :D

  • At 0:45 it looks like Mark tries to slow it down a bit

  • I love the way Bill and Charlie drive the jam, if you look at Charlies face he know this is a grewat rock n roll moment

  • A classic! great Eric!

  • 1:10 JAAAAJAJAJAJA ES MUY PELOTUDO xD
