I don't know why, but I think Kof 94 had a special fresh something that the series eventually lost. They were simplier times and the game gave a different feeling.

Maybe it's because this still looks like an international fighting tournament and later they added too many characters, exagerated their designs too much, made the story too anime like and it just wasn't the same.

From 96 forward the gameplay was much better though. All kofs are still good and enjoyable games.
