in a way you are right, but to teach an animal a trick you need some kind of reward. In the beginning it's important that they see and smell the reward. By now they do it wether I have something in my hand or not, but I still have to reward them if they do the trick, so there still has to be food even if I don't have to wave it above their heads

Yes they really look fat when filmed at that angle :). They eat mainly grass and herbs and hay, so they have got classic "grass-eaters-stomach", like cows, you know. The rest of their bodies are really firm, no fat there, at least.

I think it's true that a guinea pig will live longer with at least one companion. I have two guinea pigs living together with my rabbit, Roo. Guinea pigs can actually live with a rabbit easily. You just have to let them get to know one another. My guinea pigs and my rabbit are all very healthy and happy and I think the main reason is having a companion.

The average life span of a guina-pig is 4-5 years, but they can live to 7 or 8. I read somewhere that guinea-pigs that have at least one companion live longer, but there are probably other factors that matter as well. It makes sense, since they are flock animals and probably get easier depressed if they are loneley. Even boars can be kept many together if they have enough space. Check out Youtuber Windshield's videos: Her boars all live together except for one that is much older than the others
