  • Oh God What a Wonderful song this one - always goose bumps! for decades and decades.... so much feeling, warmth, love in his singing xx

  • @iefje56 ps and such a wonderful poem, so deep admiration for life, wow

  • I remember when this album came out. I never heard it. I remember everyone was so down on it saying it was the worst thing ever set to vynil. I remember it was the butt of joke on comedy shows. As a kid I thought wow how could Stevie do something that bad. Now listening to it I have to wonder what the hell were people smokin back then.

  • In my opinion, one of Stevie's most significant works. I wore out two sets of vinyl before finally getting the cd set. It is quite a stunning work!

  • Beautiful Genius!

  • Homenaje a la madre tierra Pachamama !!!!

  • Stevie you're realy a perfect musician

  • In the eighties, when I did a housesit, I found this album and played it all the time. I remember it so well.

Whenever I work in my garden, the words 'oh I wish that I could come back as a flower...' pop into my mind.

Seems like a wonderful thing to come back and not be aware of all the crap that's going on in the world of humans...

An orchid sounds good... somewhere in an untouched jungle :)

  • Stevie had his greatest concert in PAsadena in 1979 with this album. He never performed this live since then. So right, It is too much for us ...

  • wtf? stevie wonder had a secret life of plants album? haha

  • We need love, and the earth needs love too, We need the earth and she needs us now, more than ever.

  • Una libellula imperatrice vorrei volare fra le cicatrici, ciliegie ferite dal lancio di uccelli.

  • beautiful!!!

  • Such a beautiful song. Stevie is too genius to be true.

  • Whatever happened to, 'The Secret Life Of Plants' Volume 2?

  • In braille as well :o)

  • But who am I to doubt, or question the inevitable being.

    Legend.

  • Someone should call Stevie and tell him to change the lyrics from "bigger than most living things" to "biggest living things ever". You guys know what I'm talking about.

  • AWESOME!

  • HEB.or gentle ...lenguage...

  • all above.

  • religion. indya if you want bee musician in a church. you pay the right price. your GUN.

  • This music is pure beauty. After so many years, it still sends shivers down my spine. An evergreen - figuratively speaking.

  • One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Thank you.

  • This is a song that can be used to campaign for the end of deforestation and war on Earth. How could any politician that considers himself conscientious deny the facts staring them in the face after watching the documentary to this soundtrack?

Laugh all U want but often this brings me to near tears, it's that powerful.

This is special music and the message behind it is one that must be heeded.

  • One of the best songs ever

  • Some song writters are blessed for shape the sheer pure feeling of life and its strings such as time, love, deception and hope. the feeling we´ve got inside but for so many times unable to release away from our materialistic life. They are translators of all of this. They´re genius.

  • timeless beauty, pure genius

  • this is one of the best albums ever!

  • Genius song.

  • Yes, a very underated album...such splendour and sensitivity,,,wonderous..

    Nick

  • This album was a great job of screen music by Steivie. Everyone was surprised. At that time after "Songs in the Key of Life ", his talents had a great power.

  • doesn`t get better than this..............: )

  • Words we should all pay attention to at this time of change and world trouble - this whole album is a lesson to all

  • This album is to Steve what Smile is to Brian Wilson and Tusk is to Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac

  • definietly agree with you bixbixi

  • The critics and Barry Gordy were wrong. This is simply beautiful. To me Stevie was just being Stevie .. a genius ahead of the times.

  • the notion of a covert existence behind what otherwise appeared beautiful and serene was one that intrigued me in my youth, searching for validity. the tension conveyed in the initial minor ninth chords speaks of something dark and secretive arriving at a fleeting respit as the refrain begins only to return to darkness...

  • How beautifully said !!!

  • Gänsehaut, the best off for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • does anybody remember this was a scratch'nsniff album and it had a sweete powder fragrance? I love everything about it. It should be re-released or digitilized, or whatever modern term is used nowadays. It should be used in a world campaign on global warming!!! just wonderfully beatiful!!!

  • what a deep song.. i feel this :)

  • every time I hear this song I get tears in my eyes.

  • @crazynekogirl Me too! Just beautiful.

  • It is absolutely one of my all time favorite works of art.

  • I agree, this album is of sublime quality.

When I play it I am taken to another time... Another place.

  • When I desided to create my vinyl-library, at 1980, I started it with The Secret Life of Plants.

I didn't know, I didn't suspect that I'd buy the best music album ever.

Since then (CD's included), everything added to my music library is compared with this work in order to take it's advance.

The Secret Life of Plants is a Referal Album.

It goes to the very tops of Human Artistic creations.

  • such a good album, amazing quality!

    stevies the man, man

  • my fav of all time...................

  • 'The Secret Life Of Plants' one of Stevie's underrated album that speaks the naked truth of our Mother Earth.

We must save our Mother Earth.

Love one another , no hatred, no war , no pollution ...

We are all God's beautiful creations ....

Let's us Pray for Peace and Love

    Insyallah we'll be saved.

    Bottled Message from Beautiful Borneo.

  • @TURNINGHEAD888 Allahu Akbar, God´s great, Save the Lord...No matter the religion feeling we are creatures destines to love.

  • I'm playing this album at this very minute, lol. I can't help but surf for Stevie music as I play the CD's at home.

  • This song is what music should be like.

    Magical, Beautiful and Wonderful Music:)

Why can musician stop coping and make their own music instead of coping from LEGENDARY PEOPLE LIKE STEVIE WONDER?

PEACE to ALL STEVIE WONDER FANS!!!!:D

  • Alongside 'come back as a flower' this song is the most underrated of of stevie's career. I can't even explain the scale of these two songs

  • Amazing words and melody. Stevie is the man

  • I can't conceive the nucleus of all Begins inside a tiny seed And what we think as insignificant Provides the purest air we breathe But who am I to doubt or question the inevitable being For these are but a few discoveries We find inside the Secret Life of Plants A species smaller than the eye can see Or larger than most living things And yet we take from it without consent Our shelter, food, habilment
  • But who am I to doubt or question the inevitable being

For these are but a few discoveries

We find inside the Secret Life of Plants

But far too many give them in return

A stomp, cut, drown, or burn

    As is they're nothing

But if you ask yourself where would you be

Without them you will find you would not

  • And some believe antennas are their leaves

    That spans beyond our galaxy

They've been, they are and probably will be

    Who are the mediocrity

But who am I to doubt or question the inevitable being

For these are but a few discoveries

We find inside the Secret Life of Plants

For these are but a few discoveries

We find inside the Secret Life of Plants

  • 泣ける!

  • he should have wrote a song title "Cannibus outside my window" or something cool like that

  • great song. maybe he wrote it about marijuana.

  • Stevie is timeless,

Within the structure of complex dynamic systems, such as the biosphere, there is an underlying process. Do not think linearly. The semantic map is not the territory. Everything is possible within the unfolding implicit invisible reality of entelechy. After all, we can not see the radio magnetic waves that operate our cell phones, and/or the morphogenetic pattern contained in a seed that makes possible the manifestation of a plant that gives us fruit that we can eat.

  • Thanks for the insight but speak English!!!!!

  • I remember, when I first listened to this album, a few years ago. I fell in love with it within the minute. :) It's not only my favourite album of Stevie, but rather my favourite album of all. I've never been touched more by any other's music than Stevie Wonder's.

And of course this song is one of the best of the album 'Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants'. It's absolutely genius, how the melody of this song appears over and over again throughout all the other pieces.

    Beautiful...

  • Thank you Stevie for giving us such a great music.

  • I was 11 yrs old hearing these lyrics, today's 11yr old what are they list/ening to Weezy's lollypop! PARENT PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN FROM THESE MONSTERS!

  • One of the most humbling piece ever made. Today artist should listen to this song the puffs, kanye, 50's, weezy's etc and if these people have any soul or heart they would fall to their knee's and beg for God's forgiveness!

    WHO ARE THE MEDIOCRITY!

  • Brendonkas, you hit the nail on the head! True art is BEAUTY EXPRESSING TRUTH -- no more, no less. Even if the truth is ugly, it can be presented best by a BEAUTIFUL representation of reality. Stevie has always understood this. As others have said, thank God for Stevie! And God bless Johnnie Walker!

  • I agree my friend his voice mames me relaxed.

  • Stevie Wonder is the most touching, most fantastic and sensitive singer of all!!! Ever!

  • Woh! What a song and what a man. Thank God for Stevie. Thanks Johnniewalker23.
