  • What happens if I bought iPhone 3G on March, will I be eligible for the iPhone 3GS upgrade?

    pls reply

  • in March of this year? If so probably not, I imagine you signed a two year contract with at&t to get the phone. Do you know how much you paid for the 3G?

  • no, i just went to the apple store, i dont even have an iphone but i just got my phone 2 months ago, and it's was 400 dollars for teh 16 gb

  • why do u tilt ur head like that lol.

  • "That is what AT&T employees do. They just don't understand that people want MMS and tethering so they tilt their heads. Sort of like when dogs do when you make a puzzling sound."

  • you are kinda creepy, but thanks for the useful information!

  • im mad because they gonna take ur 3G if you do a early temanation witch cost

175+599 for the 16gb=775 to me the 3G is worth at least 400 i can see making u pay 300 for going through the trouble of early termanation but not 600 msg me tell me what u think i wanna gere and also check out my vids if you want tell me what you think thanks and subscribe...

  • umm...creepy!

  • What the hell is wrong with his head? It has a permanent and distracting tilt.

  • agreed

  • He's talking about you in his new video! LOL Just watch the end of it!

  • That's the Leaning Tower of Pisa AT&T store.

  • This phone is the EXACT SAME PRICE the iphone 3g was just a couple weeks ago. If you want to buy one and you still have a contract, then bring in a parent/grandparent and use their upgrade. They wont need it.

  • tilt that head right!!!

  • What is wrong with this guys neck??? Right at 0:35 someone must've like punched his neck or something previously to the clip.

  • ya im sure im gonna pay 100 a month for a phone

  • $30/mo. If you're paying $100/mo., that's your choice of service. Only the $30/mo. required unlimited data plan is specific to the iPhone.

  • touch

  • LOL Verizon FTW

  • i want to tilt his head straight

  • Ha, yeah, it starts out leaning one way, then switches to lean the other way.

  • Alternatively you could spend the money from an overpriced subscription on something that will make you happy.

  • Hi, iPhone lover here, i have the 3G and love it,

But you can tell Apple to keep they're 3GS, to damned expensive for contract holders

  • Just lost my potential business on the new iPhone 3GS... It already costs around 3,600 to use this phone for 2 years so I'm not going to pay an extra 200+ because AT&T feels that my 3,600 in service/plan charge isn't enough already.

  • these comments crack me up. You are correct about the amount you will spend over 2 years, but no cell phone company will give u a discount twice on 2 different phones within one contract. You get one discount every 20 months or so and that's it. If you want another phone you must pay more. They didn't lose any business from you because they already have you locked into the contract you signed. AT&T and all other cell carriers do the same thing when it comes to phone pricing.

  • AT&T SUCKS Just so you all know

  • DON'T BUY!!! DON'T BUY!!! DON'T BUY!!!

Hear what customers are saying! Yes the iPhone is great but once you become a customer of AT&T you are screwed! Apple is looking to get out and go with Verizon also so please think twice for your own good!

  • what about apple store people. i reserved it there. you guys didnt do anything

  • i preordered online. all i did is clicked on the apple website and i clicked on add a line on a exisiting account and i preordered. it didnt send a message to me or anything! WTH>?

  • why is this guy's head tilted the whole time?

  • can u buy it without contract?

    for full price?

  • Comment removed

  • Was this filmed in Medford, OR by chance?

  • For continued updates check out the AT&T Facebook page (link in the video description).

  • Thats what we did with iPhone 3G last summer and what were doing with iPhone 3G S now. Remember, we didnt offer a subsidized price for the original iPhone in 2007 (customers paid the retail price), which is why we could offer these customers the lower, subsidized cost just one year later. The device subsidy model is used by most U.S. wireless providers.

  • We know some people have questions about our prices and upgrade policy. Check out new FAQs (See video description for link). Like most wireless providers, AT&T pays manufacturers for devices. When customers sign up for contracts, AT&T offers them lower subsidized prices on their devices. This way, customers can get new devices like iPhone 3G S for a much lower upfront cost while AT&T recoups the cost of devices during the contract term.

  • this video is just crying to be parodied (ie a person who not only leans precipitously to one side but also regularly falls down). Make it so, number one...

  • AT&T - we are as crooked as this guy's head.

  • Thanks AT&T, charge your LOYAL CUSTOMERS $200 more!

  • He is a dork!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Att Sucks they will be the GM of the cell phone industry!!!!

    We want pricing!!!!!

  • wow his head tilting really annoyed me... hahahah

  • i knoow!!!! One half of his head is heavier than the other! lolololololol

  • This is lame. Why won't the AT&T store hold a pre-ordered iPhone until the customer comes to pick it up? I can't be at the store before 9 am.

I have Verizon now and would stick with Verizon if they got a real phone. I wonder if they get the iPhone if they'll remove wifi from the iPhone like they did for the Blackberry Storm. U.S. cellular companies suck!

  • because if you aren't coming super early on launch day, you won't have trouble finding a phone.

  • I'm pretty sure they will have enough phones for all the pre-orderers. And since on Saturday business hours at most AT&T stores start at 10am, even arriving at 9am you could absolutely be sure that you would be in front of everyone who did not pre-order.

  • I lol'd so hard at this dude's messed up tilted head

  • I just wish they'd support tethering like every other halfway "smart" phone on the market, though you'd only really be able to use it in large cities, not traveling throughout much of the United States.

I regret jumping ship from Verizon to AT&T. At least they've got EVDO covering the majority of their network. Even if it's a little slower, at least I'm not stuck with EDGE, GPRS, or no service.

  • This is slap in the face to loyal ATT iPhone customers. Well, I guess this gives me time to look at Sprint's Palm Pre since I've been told I can't upgrade until December. Way to let a sale go ATT. FAIL

  • Agreed.

  • Wow. I saw this on MacRumors and couldn't help but notice his TILTING HEAD. I'm glad that I'm not the only one. lol.

  • fail

  • wtf his head is tilted

  • hahahahahah so ridiculous

  • fuck u attt

  • Hold your head up straight dweeb! And thanks for bending us over sticking it in our asses, AT&T = the SUCK!

  • Is he tilting his head so he fits in the frame or something, you just move the camera you know. Now if it's just this spokes guy then they should really get someone who knows wtf they're doing.

  • at 1:39..lol wat a faggootttt..is this how att tries to get customers?? first they gotta learn how to make better videos and not put people who smoke weed and cant hold their head up straight

  • hey its seth bloom here the devil and idiot

thanks for screwing us over att

  • Seth, Is your Father Paul Bloom if so we might be related?

  • What the fuck are they thinking? Allowing iPhone 3G owners to buy a 3GS will lock them into another two year unlimited data contract! This should easily make up for initial losses!

  • iPhone 3G owners ARE allowed to buy a 3G S -- but they still have to make up for part of the subsidized cost of their iPhone 3G.

Your logic is bad. The unlimited data contract does help to make up for losses -- over a two year period. If you kept buying a new iPhone every year, you would keep getting yourself in more and more "AT&T debt."

To all you whiners, I suggest following the budurl link in the description and then clicking to Gizmodo or Technologizer.

  • ATT should really learn how to make videos

  • why does he tilt his head hahahahahahaha

  • lol, can't stop staring at it stupid head :P

  • thanks for shitting on your current customers AT&T. Thanks for giving us crappy ass pricing to go along with an iPhone that is crippled compared to how they work with other carriers!

  • Thanks for screwing your "valued" costumers AT&T.

  • oh, this guy can go to hell. ATT sucks. I'm going to get the iPhone 3GS from some place outside of the United States and use a non-ATT sim to run it. I'm done with this stupid network. Apple needs to dump their sorry asses.

  • hey seth bloom. i hate your face, keep it straight up!!

  • I don't agree with how AT&T is handling this pricing and availability. AT&T has a monopoly on the iPhone market in the US and can do anything they want to. I don't care what provider gives me service for my iphone. Open up the market to the free market. NO MORE MONOPOLIES!

  • Hey, you've got Taco Bell Syndrome.

  • What is rong with his neck?

  • Why does he tilt his head!?

  • STRAIGHTEN YUR HEAD

  • Fucking faggots ripping off people.

  • he's so creepy.

  • Fuck AT&T.

No MMS until late summer? My first phone that I got for FREE years ago supported MMS.

Obviously AT&T has not been able to keep up with these new and innovative features like MMS and tethering. lol

  • Does anyone know exactly when we'll be able to take advantage of mms/tethering? Also...is it worth it to jailbreak your Iphone?

  • fuck you

  • New customers = $99 - $299

    Current 3G Upgraders $599 - $699

    Thanks Seth, you Tilty-Headed Dick.

AT&T Blows for doing this and apple blows for releasing a phone that's the exact same as the old one..............

  • Fuck you AT&T - as soon as Verizon has the iPhone I dumping you like a used prom date.

  • wow that head tilt is bucking increments within minutes. what a creepy video. he think's he's spouting baby talk. pass him a neckbrace

  • What's wrong with your neck? AT&T... rocking the world of corporate communication here...

Also: No tethering? No MMS out of the gate? Way to bungle a great opportunity. Glad to see AT&T at the top of it's game... weak.

  • you could tell from the WWDC keynote that apple is pissed with AT&T. i'm sure their patience with AT&T is getting very short.

  • Fuck You.

  • Mr. Raise-the-eyebrows-tilty-head-guy!

  • So I'm not the only one who noticed. What's up with that?

  • lol tilty head

  • what the fuck is wrong with this guy's head

  • Why this ASIDE head?

  • this guy has creeppppyyy eyesss!

  • Comment removed

  • why are you all crying?you bought a phone last year and expect a discount when a new one comes out?you don't get a discount on a new car because you owned the older model.

  • People are upset because 1st Gen iPhone users got a big subsidized price when getting the 3G. So everyone expected the same thing time around, and when that wasn't the case.... the shit hit the fan!

  • the 1st gen iphone wasn't subsidized. if you remember, it cost $599 at launch, $399 later. customers ALSO had to sign a 2 year contract anyway, which sucked for us. so the obvious thing to do was to give us the option of upgrading early to the 3G with a subsidized price.

  • why was head tilted

  • If you bought an iPhone on launch day, then upgraded to a 3G on it's launch day, as I did, AT&T want $699 + an $18 upgrade fee for the top 3G S. Yes that's $717 to upgrade, for a phone that new customers get for $299. That really sucks.

  • I've been an AT&T customer since the original iPhone came out...I get great reception in my area and I've never had any problems with them.

That being said, the fact that they aren't ready for MMS/tethering, and their iPhone upgrade policy has caused them to lose me forever as a customer. I'm betting that by the time my contract runs out next year there will be another new iPhone and it will be on different carriers. Goodbye AT&T.

  • so mms/tethering isn't available yet, big wow. when it comes it will be great and you will be with a trash phone on some other carrier wishing you had an iphone. suit yourself but that's a terrible reason to leave at&t

  • I love my Iphone too much to let at&t ruin it for me; however, if I've know mms/tethering would be available months ago...it seems like at&t has known longer! Why can't they keep up with Apple? Thousands of customers are just frustrated, and with good reason. I never quite got the "I hate at&t" attitude...but lately it's becoming difficult not to be a little jaded. I'm soooo tempted to jailbreak my phone...but I'm too chicken of the results. What can one do?

  • Fuck u AT&T bullshit

  • bullshit!

  • Seriously, hopefully AT&T will see some of these comments and learn from their mistakes. Don't hold back, speak your mind!

  • This guy is the biggest dork.

  • woah, keep your head straight! literally./////////// is his left ear full of lead?

  • Your "exciting news" is too dry. I won't be passionate about "my device" but I will be about "my new iPhone". Please talk to us like we're people. I know I won't be going to AT&T to buy my new iPhone, it'll be fun at an Apple Store. From what Seth "the blogger guy" is saying, if I go to the "company-owned" AT&T store I get the feeling I'll be shuttled through a faceless, joyless line.

  • from :38 on what the fuck is wrong with his neck.

  • Screw you AT&T, I and many people will be jumping ship when AT&T cuts your ass off! Verizon or TMobile, here I come!

  • His head is moving so much, reminds of one of those nodding dogs on the dashboard.

  • Wow, what a loser. Also, why are we getting raped by AT&T? It's gonna cost me at least $438! Was that $700 bill in January not enough for you clowns?

  • AT&T Fail... MMS and Tethering support, not have that figured out yet? BOO! It'll be nice when the iphone is available on other networks. AT&T is the new GM.

  • YEAH I CANT WAIT TO PAY 5-600 bucks. AT&T you seriously fucked us.. You suck.

  • The upgrade policy is miserable. AT&T should modernize and learn that phones change more than once every two years. Have a reasonable policy so that users can enjoy technology/service, and not be pissed off and wanting heads to roll.

  • great call. only if this were true. they only care about making those dollars. people come like 3rd or 4th to them. haha.

  • Question: if I pay for the 599 699 price, can I get it from Apple instead of ATT? If can get it from apple without passing my personal data to ATT like back in the original iphone days, I will just wait for the unlocking become available then buy it without getting the evil ATT involved. Don't care about the 3G network. I am in wifi environment most of the time.

  • fuck why do you overprice everything?!

  • An iPhony flop!

  • umm. at&t is horseshit. they already have one of the worst networks, and now they are trying to shaft everyone that has been dedicated to the phone last year. is anybody in this scenario: had a contract BEFORE the iphone with at & t. upgrading to the 2G iphone (not at original release date), and then on july 11th last year, upgraded to the 3g. sorry for being a dedicated customer at & t, i guess that is a reason i should have to pay extra or wait. "first come first serve" - ahaha bullshit

  • quit crying, gee you knew when you bought the 3G that you were signing a 2 year contract. that's the only way you got the thing for a discounted price! now a new phone comes out and you're basically crying about that fact that you got a discounted phone last year

  • i am on the EXACT same boat as you..

i truly do hope something is done about this.

Anyone remember when apple dropped the price by 100 on the 2g, and then gave people who paid full price 100 back? now THAT is customer service. They should go back to that. They dont realize how much business they are losing.

  • AWESOME! I AM SO HAPPY THAT I HAVE TO PAY $699 to upgrade...

  • mee too!!!

  • Some of you cats need to quit your complaining. You signed a two year contract with At&t and you have an iphone.

Each year they will come out with a newer and better product, that is just the way technology is.

Be happy you have one and take in to account it will save you money by sticking with what you have.

  • $699 for an upgrade and a new 2 year contract is RIDICULOUS. AT&T will not be getting my business!

  • fuck you att

  • The reason that At&t offered a discounted price on the iPhone 3G for original iPhone owners is that you had to pay full retail for your first iPhone so technically they still owed you a subsidized handset. You used the subsidized handset discount when you bought your iPhone 3G so you had the $199 option like a new customer.

The iPhone 3G S is available for an early upgrade discount price of $399 and $499 so you still pay less than the no contract pricing described below.

  • this is what apple dose to its older versions of products...

on the apple site can you find the lpod shuffle or the 1g itouch pr even the 2g iphone??? nope yah cant cuz apple just abandins there older divices to hide there flaws

  • iphone 3g S came out!

check out the video for the

    NEW SPECS!

    subscribe please!!!!

  • This is outrageous that i have been with at&t for 5 years and have 2 i phone 3gs on my plan and i have to pay full price . At&t should serioulsy change this policy

  • I am eligible for a 2 year and am a current at&t costomer. Will i have to pay 199 or 699

  • The price they are charging for upgrades depends on how long you've had your iPhone 3G. For someone like me that bought it on July 12, 2008 (the day it was released) I can upgrade for $399 or $499 and I will get better pricing (don't know what that is yet) on July 12, 2009.

When you purchased your iPhone 3G for $199 you received a tremendous discount. You can either wait until you've had the phone long enough to qualify for a bigger discount OR you can pay the extra OR you can whine some more.

  • i am not paying 599 for only a compass and video i'll just upgrade to 3.0 firmware i love my iphone 3g and im happy with the speed if i really want video ill just jailbreak and get cycorder i benn on a contract for 1 year and they want me to pay that much and a new 2 year crontact ,, im canceling and get yellow snow , and go to the other company that really care about costumers

  • WTF is wrong with his head.. oh and I called my store... they have no clue what the new Iphone 3gs is....

  • Hey, ATT how about you F*ckn have a promotion for current iPhone 3G customers and more importantly bring MMS and tethering to the iPhone customers. We pay good money for an exclusive phone and you can't even accomplish the goal for customer satisfaction. How about Verizon get the iPhone, I am willingly to bet that of given a chance Verizon would give customers if they had rights to the iPhone MMS instantly, great upgrade pricing and tethering, plus the largest network as a bonus.

  • What the hell AT&T! Stop screwing me over! I want to get the new iPhone 3GS and to extend my contract for another two years but you want to charge me $499 and an additional $18 for upgrading? I want to upgrade and extend my contract now, so give me the upgrade price now.

What the hell AT&T I want to give you my money and I want to extend my contract, stop making it so hard!

I never had a reason for switching to T-Mobile until right now. This is infuriating and I want it fixed now.

  • That sucks cause i used my upgrade last month on a 3g and now they come out with a new 1. They should give current 3g owners the same price as the people using there upgrades.

  • As a AT&T customer and own a iPhone 3g

can I be able to upgrade to the 3gs?

  • The pricing is ridiculous, AT&T is censoring free speech, and why does the guy in the video keep tilting his head...seriously! AT&T get your act together!

  • Way to screw you current 3G owners AT&T. There's no way I'm paying $200 more for a 3GS. You suck.

  • i thought AT&T was gonna cut the voice plans prices by $10

  • why cant yall give iphone users tethering ?????

  • This is totally messed up AT&T, iphone 3g users should be able to upgrade just like new users

  • AT&T Correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't "Qualifying Customers" included those with more than 1yr into their existing contract? Thus we would get the $199/$299 pricing?

Can ATT verify what a Qualifying Customer is?

  • i love how his head is tilted sideways. lmao

  • Agreeing with everyone: AT&T is screwing the existing 3G owners BIG TIME! Being consistent is a very nice marketing scheme. Just saying.

  • his head is slightly crooked

  • Do you still have to pay $30 to even have it?

  • Qualifying customer my ass. If you already have an iPhone, you're pretty much screwed and will pay more than double if you want one.

  • I see that AT&T is deleting comments to this.

  • Thanks for screwing over current 3G customers. $699 for an upgrade and a new 2 year contract is RIDICULOUS. AT&T will not be getting my business!

  • how do you think us 2g iphone users felt, now 3g iphone users are feeling the same way.

  • You're obviously wrong. Paying $699 is the non contract price. Perhaps you should clarify things before you make false accusations?

  • existing at&t customers politely request a reasonable upgrade policy for new iphones. if what cessna154 says is true, do not expect us to stay when the iphone becomes available on other wireless carrier networks. your exclusive contract with apple won't last forever.

    thank you in advance! :)

  • Paying $200 on top of full discount if you've recently upgraded seems perfectly reasonable.

  • The upgrade policy in place is more than reasonable. What's not reasonable are people to expect below cost pricing on phones every year. That business model has already failed once (the original AT&T wireless would let you upgrade whenever you wanted and it bankrupted them).

  • AT&T is really screwing their existing customers here. Not just in the pricing (which this video doesn't mention) but with the service as well. 22 carriers in other countries are supporting tethering and mms. But not AT&T. AT&T has really proved here, that it is just not capable of providing the same quality of service that is provided by almost every single carrier in the US, and even in third world countries.

  • What are you talking about? The lack of tethering and MMS is coming from Apple, not AT&T. Why don't you get off your high horse and get your facts straight?

  • your a fucking dumbshit axtell. Clearly with all your comments you probably work for At&t. Apple makes the fucking phones they don't do shit once they are handed over to At&t users. At&t provides the phone service that allows (or doesn't) for MMS. Thats like saying the 3G network is coming from Apple. Dumbshit, get a life.

  • your a f***ing dumbsh*t axtell. Clearly with all your comments you probably work for At&t. Apple makes the f***ing phones they don't do shit once they are handed over to At&t users. At&t provides the phone service that allows (or doesn't) for MMS. Thats like saying the 3G network is coming from Apple. Dumbsh*t, get a life.

  • There are many other foreign carriers that support MMS and tethering.

  • I know. What about upgrade pricing for iPhone 3G current users?

And psh, do you think he's reading a script or what?

  • you well have to pay full price

  • AT&T is screwing all 3G owners who want to upgrade to the 3G S. Plain and Simple.

    Bring back iPhone upgrade pricing!

  • Hey AT&T, what's up with your horrible pricing scheme for current iPhone 3G customers!?! See, I bought the original iPhone when it came out. When the 3G came out last year, you offered then-current iPhone customers to upgrade for the SAME PRICE as a new contract. Why are you not offering that same deal for those of us with a 3G right now?? That's just wrong on your part, especially considering how loyal many of us are to AT&T.

    Fix this injustice please!!

  • No, it's not wrong. Just because you want a new toy doesn't mean they owe you yet ANOTHER discount. AT&T is no different from any other carrier in this regard. If they gave everyone the full discount price every time they wanted a new phone, they'd soon be out of business.

  • Do you work for AT&T?

  • Nothing is mentioned about how AT&T wants to charge $500 or $600 dollars for existing iPhone 3G users. Why can't existing customers pay $200 or $300 like new customers? Nothing like screwing those who have been paying quite a bit already... Please reconsider and realize how poorly this looks on AT&T and get ready for the strong blogger response... Just another example of a company missing their mark and screwing the existing customer base. Why does AT&T try to hide this fact?

  • I totally agree with you, my family and I have been with AT&T for 9 years now, over all I must I am happy with AT&T but I do dislike the fact that they have no intention to lower the price on already existing iPhone 3G costumers looking forward to upgrade, or perhaps simply get the new iPhone 3G S without paying as you mentioned $500 or $600 for doing so.

  • how do you think i felt when the iphone 3g came out and i had a iphone 2g ????
