Birmingham City Library - Future under discussion

Demolishing the Vitorian Reference Library was a disaster and the modern Central library has always looked an eyesore as does the BCU Conservatoire. Selfridges spoils the view of St.Martin's and what have we to look forward to with the redevelopment of New Street Station. More modern designs that will look tirred and tatty in ten years time?

I think it is a very good library and the staff are excellent. Birmingham City Council are really really incompetant and corrupt in my opinion.

True... What do you expect from a useless Tory/LibDem coalition?

In its own way, Birmingham Central Library is a beautiful building, and a great architectural and cultural asset to the city. I bet that, like Prince Charles and Gary Taylor, most of the opponents of the building live outside Birmingham. They don't know the building.

We Brummies should decide for ourselves if we want to keep the Central Library... It shouldn't be left to faceless, greedy land developers and home county snobs.
