I Can't believe I was there., at those exact moments not knowing it would be the last i see Hickstead in action. He was the reason I went to Spruce Meadows., he truly made Canada proud! R.I.P Hickstead go jump among the stars

@elliebeautylover I know ): He was riding a horse at the royal winter fair, Herald 3 or something, it was one of his clients horse but i think hes gonna use him for now on.. not too sure though.

God, he loved that horse so much. I just found out about Hickstead's death tonight after watching a rebroadcast of this competition. At the end they showed a tribute card to Hickstead with the date of his death. So shocking... I don't know how Eric will ever recover from losing his partner in such a tragic way. To have him go down in the ring with Eric still on his back... unthinkable. RIP Hickstead and my heart goes out to Eric.

@magichorse18 Horses take congratulants, and are used to being man handled, it's natural. I saw this in person, it was magical, Hickstead deserved all the credit that Eric put on him after the last round.

I can't believe that the era of Eric and Hickstead is so suddenly and so tragically over. I'm furious at myself because just last week I deleted all this summer's coverage of Spruce from my DVR. And now we'll never see him on our TVs again. I'm so devastated, and if my heart is broken, Eric's (and Delphine's) must be pulverized. I hope one day Eric can find that smile and that joy again.
