Excellent advice. Any who need advice on beginning improv, I advise 'em to go back to the basics, scales and arpeggios, then mix it all up. This lesson backs that up nicely with examples.
Now, for a better lesson on how to better separate my "gypsy fiddle" style of double-stops from my "blues fiddle" double stops, and I'd be happy.
Not that I intend to completely isolate them from one another, but I could use some advice on the difference, and fiddlers would probably be the best to ask.
What's a 'flash scale'?

excellent! After you visited and told students they could improvise off of a color or emotion, I had kids improvising off seasons of the year!
