@niflheim82 Socialism = the people OWN the property, but the government CONTROLS through taxation and regulation, meaning there is little free choice. People fear it because they LIKE freedom and they LIKE choice.

Also, as to why they fear it, does the term "NATIONALIZED SOCIALISM" mean anything to you? Google it and you'll see 100's of references to the nazi party. YES THAT nazi party, as in WWII... Socialism has ALWAYS failed wherever its been instituted. Thats why people fear it.

@cameltoejoe69 No, that's state socialism, or as some say state capitalism. True socialism is when the means of production are owned collectively and controlled democratically by the people. Also, it's supposed to be a decentralized planned economy, i.e. worker cooperatives, small communes etc., and it means that workers will no longer be exploited by the capitalist class and will finally receive the full value of what they produce. Socialism is not the end of freedom, but the extension of it.

The Nazi Party was called "National Socialist German Workers' Party", and they only put the "Socialist" and the "Workers'" in there because socialism was very popular at the time. In truth, the Nazis had nothing to do with socialism. Socialism is always internationalist, while the Nazis were nationalist and racist. Socialists and communists were the first people that were put into concentration camps by the Nazis.

And so your saying they called themselves the National Socialist Workers party when Socialism was very popular but they werent ACTUALLY socialist? They hate each other, their ideologies are completely opposed to each other, and they regularly have street fights (at least over here in Europe). Again, the Nazis are nationalist and racist, while communists/socialists are internationalist. And of course communists/socialists were put into concentration camps because they were communists/socialists. They were Hitlers worst political enemies, learn your history.

The comparison of Obama to Hitler isnt about him wanting to kill people of any specific race, religion, or geneology. Its about Obama wanting to expand government in ways that would reduce personal freedom and individualism with whats best for the "collective." Thats what socialism in, and thats what the nazi movement was about (Nazi = nationalized socialism). Also, both were great orators who lead their respective countries in great times of crisis...so the comparison is pretty accurate

Look again, today in New Jersey and Virginia a referendum was held on Comrade Obama .. he campaigned his ass off for the Dims in those two states and his buddies were swept OUT of office !
