  • "Scarlet! You have a wonderful dress"

"Oh, thank you darling. I saw it in the window and I couldn't bear to not wear it."

  • Did Harvey accidentally say Scarlet instead of Starlet at 5:21?

  • My mom had 2 go 2 Halloween party, all guests could dress up as favorite celebrity or character, whether fictional or no. Mom wanted 2 dress up as Scarlet. I told Mom to wear the curtain rod, like Carol. First she said no, but a friend put together the rod, curtain, and dress 4 Mom. MY MOM WON FIRST PRIZE FOR BEST COSTUME ! LMFAO !

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!! That is the funniest "dress" I ever saw!

  • Does anyone else hear her say right before 5:05 "Just keep going," when they're on the stairs and he steps on her dress?

  • @mabmao2 Good observation! I always worry when I watch that scene because Harvey could have slipped.

  • One laugh after another, I have to watch this over n over, cuz I laugh so hard I miss the next line....lol.......brilliant ideas, from brilliant comedians......Bob Macki's costumes were pure genius, ......what a talented designer.....best show on TV....

  • Harvey Korman;s Clark Gable Impression is hilarious!!!!

  • i was at the smithsonian but i don't think that dress was there...too bad!

i"m in tears watching that scene...even after all these years.

  • why don't you hide behind the drapes.... 1:15.... the look on her face.... lol. I LOVE IT!

  • This could be the West Coast re-airing of the show. From what a PBS special said there were two different live versions done. In the original the male actors were laughing so hard he was hysterical.

  • Laughing uncontrollably!!!!!!

  • OH! this scene was funny! The camera had to stop rolling because everyone in the audience was laughing really hard.

  • I always laugh at these my mom showed e them and they are so funny

  • I fell off my chair when I saw that dress... -.-

  • LOL! If it was Tim, he would have fallen UP the stairs, too! ;-D

  • came for the curtains. stayed for the gable.

  • "Look away!"

    "Look away?"

    "LOOK AWAY!"

  • @WestVirginiaRebel - I quote that line all the time and no one gets it!!! lol

  • The drap dress...ROFL....holy crap that never gets old

  • "not now starlett, i'm pooped."

    "well i well i well i well i well i well i well i"

    roflmao

  • My 3 fav lines: 1. Well I well I well I well I well I well I well I. 2. I really really really really really really really really did love her! 3. Step outta the way this is between us men! Oh, perhaps I oughtta get out of the way then.

  • so funny loved it!!!

  • My memory ain't shot yet.

I can remember seeing this when it first aired. I recall that they did a spoof on Gone With the Wind, but when I saw Scarlet look at those drapes it all came back to me in a flash.

Oh how I miss good TV.

  • That spill down the stairs is pretty impressive.

  • 3 people went with the wind...

  • It's hilarious when Dinah Shore's dress get caught as she comes out of the room! And that shriek that Carol Burnett lets out she she's pushed down the stairs by Dinah cracks me up!!

  • Harvey Korman looks like Jack Nicholson with his mustache.

  • The "inside of a goat stomach" simile was used several times in Mama's Family.

  • What did he say?

he said "accent'" well ms but i dont gi...

    makes sense to me!

  • hahahahaaaaaaaaa@the way she falls down the stairs

  • I love the ending. If only the actual movie had ended the same way! Thank you so much for posting this.

  • We were always allowed to stay up and watch 'The Carol Burnett Show' and I remember watching this when it first aired. I don't think any show has ever come close to the best writing and acting in comedy shows. They really knew how to entertain us back then. Now all you see are the stupid shows full of bad acting and even worse writing. Gosh how I miss this show! I think 'Frazier' came close as far as the writing, another classic show.

  • That had a better ending.

  • I will never forget watching this when I was young. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. I don't think another show has ever done that to me since. Absolute classic. They just don't make them like this anymore.

  • 3:20 is the funniest part of the whole thing!!!

  • "I really like what you've done to the place." Hilarious

  • "...it went with the wind"

    "what wind?"

    (music plays)

"Well that's real pretty but that don't answer my question "XD

  • Everything about this sketch is absolutely brilliant! Now I can't watch Gone With the Wind without thinking about this, and saying things like, "No, Melanie, stop being nice to her, push her down the stairs!"

  • @RImusclebear Have you seen the full ovation anywhere on here? I want to see it.

  • 3 people went with the wind

  • "Look Away!!!" LOL!!!!

  • Classic!

(And this is from the 15-year-old)

  • Her face at 1:19 is priceless

  • It gets stuck at 5:25...

  • lol "my precience rat where is he?"

  • LOL Always leave the audience laughing, and wanting more!

  • "Not now, Scarlett. I'm pooped." LOL LOL

  • PAH! Frankly Miss Scarlett I don't give a damn. HAHAHAHAHA!

  • Harvey is stepping on her dress!!! lol

  • super funny

  • When Carol appeared in the drapes costume, Bob Macki said it was the longest ovation every received at Television City in Hollywood. It lasted about 5 minutes. It is cut here.

  • @RImusclebear shame because Corman's reaction to the sight of the dress was a riot. :)

  • @RImusclebear I could imagine. Such an incredibly funny scene and all she did was simply put it on in a most exaggerated way. Genius.

  • "I wish I was in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotton. LOOK AWAY!"

    "Look Away?"

    "LOOK AWAY! Dixie Land."

"Thats real pretty Mr Butler. You should set that to music." lol!!!!!!

  • "I saw it in the window and I couldn't resist it!" Truly one of the funniest lines in television history.

  • LOL! the curtain rod in the dress. best skit I have ever seen in a tv show. I remember me, my mom and sisters rolling on the floor with laughter.

  • Sissy and Rat-2:03-232

    So how you Cap Butler

How am I? You asked that of a man who just returned from battle?Who returned from seeing brother pitted against brother? From seeing the world that he loved crumble beneath his feet? and you ask how are you. HOW ARE YOU?

  • luv it :D

  • They just don't make comedy like that any more...genius, plain and simple!!!!

  • Teeheehee I love this!!

  • Amazing they could compress that 226 minute Megilleh into twenty minutes, and still have time to throw in a whole cavalcade of Old South cliches. And "I saw it in the window, and I just couldn't resist it." Has to be the funniest line in the history of Comedy.

  • "Shoot! With $300, I'll show him anything he wants!!"

  • still the funniest thing that has ever been done.

  • @RossMurray01 You're right. NOTHING could ever be better than this.

    XD

  • priceless I love carol and vicky

  • A great parody to a great movie.

  • This makes up for the lost hours of my life spent watching that horrible "classic" GWTW. Thanks.

  • Finally someone agrees w/ about that overrrated movie; Scarlett is a selfish bitch while Rhett was such a sleaze.

  • You mean that I'm not the only one who thinks Gone With The Wind is an incredibly overrated movie? THANKS! BTW, this is a Carol Burnett Classic.

  • Nuh uh. It's all about how you look at it.

  • totally, totally agree. i know its supposed to be a classic...but i just cant bring myself to agree. its just so SO LONG. just read the book, its far more interesting.

  • if you think GWTW is overrated you must be a yankee yourself GWTW is all about the terrible fall of the south

  • Yowza, boss, you be right!

  • I'm a "yankee" and I love GWTW too.

It's NOT like I think slavery should have continued or something, though. Ugh. And unfortunately, it's a big part of what made the South what it was.

  • ya and i'm a southerner!

  • Scarlett is "annoying" in the film because thats what people were like. Southerners weren't used to having to do work and when the men went off to war the women had to do most or all of the work and they weren't used to that. I know it doesn't depict this in the movie but in the book Scarletts sisters are alot more "annoying and distracting" than in the movie. So read a history book and learn some basic facts before dissing a movie about something you dont know anything about obviously.

  • I apologize for my ignorance & I will read the book ;I feel both of our comments were rude and I'm willing to "extend the olive branch."

  • I apologize for being rude and I am willing to accept your " olive branch" and extend one of my own.

  • Anybody got some feta and tomatoes? We could make a Greek salad...

  • thank you for sharing this vid i love it..

  • Anyone know where I can get the script for this?

  • Well, the way all these helpful people like to write out every line of every clip they watch, you could just print out the comments.

  • Vicki Lawrence nearly steals the scene!

  • Scarlett, you forgot something...ha! I still remember this skit from my childhood. Great, great, great...and funny!!

  • I loved the Carol Burnett show. This was one of my favorite skits.

    Thanks for posting it!!

  • I did too! I don't think I'll ever forget the curtain rod scene in this skit as long as I live. It caught me off guard so bad when I saw it as a kid. I was a big GWTW fan...so this was just perfect! It is classic. Still makes me laugh :D

  • This brings back such great memories, this was one of my favorites!!!

  • miz starlet! miz starlet! miz starlet!

    teehee
