I remember this like it was yesterday. As we all started praising, I remember turning to my brother, Mark and telling him "Take of your shoes! We stand on Holy ground!" THAT'S how close we felt to the presence of the LORD that day. What a day! WHAT A GOD WE SERVE!!
What a powerful day! I was there with my church. I was only 25 years old and I am now almost 40. If I could put into words what this day in history meant to myself and my family I would be here typing all day. I am a new man because of God and His overwhelming power especially on that day. It will always remain a very special day to my family and I! I wish PK would do a follow up Stand In The Gap!! Can you imagine the testimonies you would here from other men from then till present day!!
I was there to I was 27 now 41. I watched this and tears filled my eyes from the feelings coming back to me of that day. I long for a time that I can do something like that again. now that I am older i think i would be more ready for it. I did experience somethings from God there that will last me the rest of my life. God Bless you Brother.
I was there with friends from N.C.What happened to us men? Have we forgotten our promises to God? We can live every day in His glorious presence,as powerful as it was then.Let`s bring our lives back where we were then. Remember the fire in our souls?
Does anyone remember that this event fell on Rosh Hashanah in 1997? The organizers, I was told, had no idea of this when they picked the date. But God knew. First thing on Saturday morning, by the Washington Monument, there was a POWERFUL Messianic service held. Then when the official Stand In the Gap event started later that day, they asked the Messianic Jews to blow the shofar to start off the event. Truly life-changing event. I have never shouted "Hallelujah" louder than that day. Praise God!
now is the time of salvation we have forsaken God denied Jesus in our country by our sins our hearts serve idols of lust, greed ,hate etc. God again is calling adam where are you? Jesus is at the door knocking! john 3:16
@unworthy4forgiveness they did do it again it was called the million man march and 3.8 million showed up you should of been there Christian man. ( Just Saying )
Thank God for Christian Men and Women who Stand in the Gap!!!! Praise to God! Thank you glmaddawg Only True Christians know that inner peace that comes from God. We need to Pray for our Nation............

@salcuta88 Wish i had been there, i was at the previus 2 northwest pk conventions, amazing. i was still in school at the time. thank you for putting this together and sharing with all of us that missed it. For one weekend the capitol was rocked, needs it again. and harder.
What a Great day this was and I for one will never forget GODS PRESENCE in DC that day.!! People who think that we were mindless sheep in the park missed God's Blessings. Everyday is the Sabbath when you know Jesus.. and regardless of what day or where you Worship the King of Kings , he is happy to see his children praying and trying to make a difference in America. As we left DC on the trains we were all singing and the people that were not at the event were Blessed, and so were we.
Saturday the 7th day of the week IS the Sabbath of the Lord Thy God, not the 1st day of the week (mark of the beast)! Awaken while probation lingers a little longer! Jesus Christ is Coming Again!
@svnthdysthsbbth Wow...thanks for that insight. I agree...Jesus the Christ is coming again! I hope you're ready...and don't miss HIM due to the plank in your eye...stop trying to pick slivers out of the eyes of others and watch the sky!
My Church's youth group leader and a few of the youth was in attendance for this, from southeast Kentucky. I was 18 at the time and just beginning my relationship with God. It was such an amazing event to be a part of. Something none of us will ever forget. They said at LEAST over 1 million were present but most estimates put it at over 2.5-3 million during its peak. Is said to be the largest gathering of men since Biblical days.
@Satchago WRONG THE MILLION MAN IN 95" WAS GIGANTIC MY FRIEND WHO WORKS @ THAT SITE SAID THAT HE WENT TO THE TOP FLOOR OF THE MOUMENT WHICH IS 850 SOMTHIN FT HE SAID AS FAR AS THE EYE COULD SEE NOTHIN BUT BLACK MEN. THAT MY FRIEND WAS AMAZING TO SEE HE HAS SOME PRETTY SERIOUS PHOTOS HE JUST GOT EM DONE IN HD COVERAGE............VERY NICE :^)
@NorthStar20121 On the contrary! It changed many many lives! I was there with my dad. And let me tell you, it would be worth it all even if only one man came to Christ through this. But it changed more than one man, it changed thousands! It put action to belief for many others. And it showed this nation there is still a remnant of faithful men. It may not be in your or my lifetime, but this single event will have a tremendous impact.
I was there. We rode on a bus all night from Tennessee. The Holy Spirit was moving among us and we were all changed. Many were filled, many were saved and we humbled ourselves as Christian Men that day. It might never happen again but if we want to save America from its sinful past, present and future it must happen again. Pray for a revival. No politician or party can save us. Only faith in Jesus Christ the savior.
I was there. The so-called "million man march" paled by comparison. During the height of the worship time, there was no open space from the Lincoln Memorial to the steps of the Capitol Building, plus the side streets were filled and the space leading up to the White House lawn. The U.S. Park Service estimated "more than one million," but a shofar player on the stage told me officials there were estimating about 3 million men in attendance. It looked like 3 million to me - a glimpse of Heaven.
It looks like a good idea and great turn out, but didn't accomplish a thing based on the current situation. If these were true Christians prepared to oppose the evil in this country they would be "terrorists" now. Instead it looks like a bunch of mindless sheep who don't have a clue what is going on, out for a picnic in the park. I pray that these men will join together and realize that evil anti-Christian Israel First Zionists now control our government.
@Antifraud -- You're wrong. True Christians would never be terrorists because Christ said to "Love your enemy". We know that God is in control and have a peace that He gives us.
It seems to me that you "have no clue" what God's word is and what it means to be a Christian. I'll pray for you.
i was there this event was amazing u knew the spirit of God was there and am glad i went i wish something like this would happen again. it was wonderful to see how many came out to worship our Lord and Savior. and he is worthy of our Praise and Worship he is so good to all of us in the good and bad times
WOW this is awesome!!! I was there at the 9/12 event but this was much more people at this event!! I think we need to do another 9/12 event in another 3-6weeks!! We need to keep up the pressure!!
Was the 9/12 event political? ..Because this event was Spiritual. We were there to hold up our nation to God and ask for forgiveness. We we're there for any politics.
My Brother was there for this, and he said it was the greatest thing he has ever done in Service to the Lord. # million guys all praying to God amen Brothers!!
What an awesome time that was, i was only 17 years old at the time and it seems only yesterday when men across the country invaded our nations capital to pray for our country and be reconciled to God. God bless America!
Same here. I came back from DC and started my true walk with Christ 12 years after I was saved. I Googled Stand in the Gap 1997 to find out exactly what day the event was held. My wife and I are preparing to go to DC on Sept 12th to "Stand in the Gap" for our nation. Pray for our country.
I was there and I would trade that expirence for all the money on this earth. I actually look forward to gathering of the church to meet our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ in the air.
Wow, this brings back memories of that day! I was there also. I still have Stand in the Gap poster, and my airline boarding pass as souvenirs of that trip.
LOVE this song! LOVED the worship!! LOVED the event!!
Was even more inspired by the fact that the National Park Service was SHOCKED, because everybody picked up after themselves and it was the cleanest after an event EVER!! Now THAT was a testimony!!
I was there with my son, who was 14 at the time, and my now late father-in-law. A powerful day that I will remember all of my life--from the sound of hundreds of thousands of men singing at the top of their voices, to the quietness of the breeze while we were on our knees praying. God's Spirit filled us and encouraged our faith, even to this day. Thanks for posting this video, it brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. Semper Fi!
I was in DC on this day and to this day 11 years later it still moves me to tears. It was such an extrodinary experience it only is second to my marriage! Even though it is 11 years later it still moves me like I just came back from there last weekend! I wish more people would have experiences like this istead of always trying to take Jesus and his message out of the everyday and persecuting me for my beliefs.
i was there when i was a boy. I look back on it a laugh actually. I don't believe in a group like promise keepers that would parade a sacred religion, while firing off flat waves of excitement which ultimately die.
Thankyou so much for posting this video. I was there.Next to my wedding day & the birth of my children it was the most incredible event in my life. In that sea of men The Lord really broke me. God Bless & Keep You. PTL
I was there, and this made me thirsty for the fulfilment of 1st Thessalonians 4:13-18 when all the believers in Christ Jesus will be gather together from all ages and from all places and glorified in our new eternal bodies free from aging, disease, pain and hunger and most of all gathered in His glorious and radiant presences and worshipping Him and prasing him.
thanks for posting. it was an awesome event. i pray that the Father will send His Spirit on the same men to show up on Aug. 16th, for the Call DC. we are in an even more desperate hour as a nation.
Thanks for this - used some on a small church video I just made. Our country is in desperate times- we need men to stand in the gap more than ever. Keep strong, brothers.
I was there. But 3 million might just be a bit over what I would say was represented there. Probably less than 1 million, but the real number doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
That number was based on the photo comparison of the "million man march" that took place a few months before that. The number for that event was listed at 1 mill - 1.2 mill and they did not nearly fill the first half of the mall and there was no one in the side streets nor under the trees. if you saw the two picts side by side you would see the huge disparity.
I've added photo links on the right under the description so that you can see the difference. This of course is assuming that the million man march had the numbers that were claimed in the media.
