1) User friendly, map editor (pc) which is easy to use, better voice acting, worth the money on pc (i got it for £18 on play . com), not bad graphics and good fun with friends.
2) Compared to OFP 1: Lack of vehicles ie PLANES, Dumbed down, less realistic, not mod-able (cant find one on the internet that changes anything), less customizable, map is less varied, less bots (OFP 2= 63 OFP 1= 180)
The best thing about this game is the kicking down of doors 0:24 and the setting up of the launchers 1:34. All the other stuff like thermal, laser sights and flashlights are now in ARMA 2 OA. The fact you can also fly planes in ARMA kind of does it for me.

That's really sad while good points in this game are exactly what Arma2 lacks of .. accurate animations for weapon mouting and reloiding, dismemberment, good ragdoll and a decent sound engine.

Another thing I forgot to mention, on the art side OFP:DR is much better then ArmaA2. The main thing that turned my off from ArmaA2 is the fact that the hands are so low resolution and ugly they distracted me. Same thing with the weapons, which look like 2d boards (and I play with everything on high.)
The player animations where also horrible on ArmaA2. From a strict milsim perspective though its a great milsim (not really a game in my point of view)
Reviewers should be careful about catagorically calling a game crap. Just because its not your cup of tea does not mean its a bad game. It has its moments of frustration but overall I think its a decent milsim that got many things right (having been in real combat I can say the game is fairly immersive. Sounds are great!
This isn't the type of game where you go directly into combat, your tactical decisions play more of a role then simply firepower, which is how it should be in a milsim.
I respect the fact you have been in combat, but your opinion does greatly contrast with most other active service members.
Arma 2 is more accurate at everything in terms of realism than Dragon Rising, literally, everything.
Arma 2 is completeley designed for strategical and realism simulation, hence why its military version, VBS 2, is used to train soldiers in tactical combat.
Dragon Rising is a console shoot em up, all be it slower paced than your average cod 4. Its still a game, not a sim.
Your minunderstanding. I agree with what you are saying from a realism standpoint ArmaA2 is better then OFP:DR (except at sounds, I think dragon risings sounds are much better.) However thats from a strict milsim standpoint.

I respect your opinion jmrichey84, having served in the military and all but there are instances where this game has me confused. Like when I was stood in front of 5 PLA soldiers at about 50m, two of which were on heavy machineguns and I managed to kill them all like Rambo whilst they shot at my feet! Btw, I was fighting single-handedly as I had just killed my AI team mates for being dumb, hehe.
Yeah I keep hearing about such instances, I guess I'm lucky because so far I haven't really encountered that issue with the enemy AI. Friendly squad AI yes but not enemies. More times then not they see me way before I see them even.

Yeh, , Not only have I got the first ArmA, Queens Gambit and ARMA 2, I've still got the first Operation Flashpoint and both it's expansion packs. I was only questioning the fact that you can't have a rainy day on a mission in OFP DR. I don't like Call of Duty as much as you do, which I expect is not alot.
K so, although ArmA 2 and OFP 2 are combat sims/mil sims w/e, both have drawbacks. For e.g. Arma 2 has alot of glitches and at the same time OFP 2 wont have fighter jets and the "hold alt and move your mouse around so you can see around you w/o moving your entire body" thingy. Imo OFP 2 will have better co-op but ArmA 2 has alot of mods for now so i dont really know wich will be better to buy. Just lettin my thoughts out :o

i am a Arma 2 fan I love it, however I spoke with a Bohemia employee and they said the console version was not confirmed. So that basically means this is the game to play on console, and the have said the editor is back in for console!

ArmA II is a good game, but OF:DR can still catch up. Remember ArmA II took ages to get to the point it did with all the mods and patches.
OF:DR still has a chance if it fixes alot of bugs and adds a few new features.

Weapons have large variety in choice, it has an awsomely good graphics engine.
unrealistic sounds and unrealistic hits. Most sounds are the same soudn repeated over and over. Animations are aboslutly crap.

If you are into a hardcore style simulator - ArmA2 is better.
ArmA2 has a LOT of bugs though. needs more patience and modding to get just right.
OF:DR is a more gentle introduction for people who are used to platform fps games.
The OF:DR engine I find a LOT smoother than ArmA2, and the optics are far superior (FLIR anyone?).
General control options and gameplay with ArmA are far superior - as is the multiplayer support.

I have both games. OFPDR is no match for a simulator like ARMA2 which does just that. OFPDR is not a simulator, it's just a fps with editor.
The graphics a not even close to that of ARMA2.
Almost all gameplay vids of ARMA2 are actual gameplay from users. Now try find this with OFPDR. Biggest con ever

The story line is ok, so is the campaign, buts its a very broken game, and the developers told alot of lies.
Gamespot gives it a 7.5 on consoles, no review yet for pc. Some reviews give below 5/10, some give it 8 out of 10.
On pc it is in a very bad condition though, so maybe give it a try if you own a console.

Nice video, but the more I see of the game the more it reminds me of Battlefield Bad Company and the sort..not realistic but pretty.

Not just for consoles, but for PC as well. and I guess in a since it is kind of like ArmA 2, both are focused on the realism of the battlefield and really be like a military simulator.

this is normal if you don't see the crosshair, it's in hardcore ,mode on the video, wich means no hud, no lifebar and everything...
this game's is supposed to be the most realisitic game ever released on console, so the recoil of the weapons and the other things are realistic !! anyway that gam will be great !

Yeah no matter what this will be the real revolutionary combat simulator. Arma is good.. But not as good as this is gonna be. Not just thee graphics or the kick ass animations attract me to this. its just the realism. October is almost here fellas. Hope to see ya online for some good ole' Ass kicking

Lol no what i was talking about that was making it revolutionary is it really feels and looks like your in a real battlefield way better then how arma is doing it But both games rock. And since your pc spec is amazing you could get OFP2 for pc instead of 360 so that way you will command more then 4 and you have the editor so it will be amazing fr you but they took the editor out of the 360 version :(

Yeh, , Not only have I got the first ArmA, Queens Gambit and ARMA 2, I've still got the first Operation Flashpoint and both it's expansion packs. I was only questioning the fact that you can't have a rainy day on a mission in OFP DR. I don't like Call of Duty as much as you do, which I expect is not alot.

K so, although ArmA 2 and OFP 2 are combat sims/mil sims w/e, both have drawbacks. For e.g. Arma 2 has alot of glitches and at the same time OFP 2 wont have fighter jets and the "hold alt and move your mouse around so you can see around you w/o moving your entire body" thingy. Imo OFP 2 will have better co-op but ArmA 2 has alot of mods for now so i dont really know wich will be better to buy. Just lettin my thoughts out :o

i am a Arma 2 fan I love it, however I spoke with a Bohemia employee and they said the console version was not confirmed. So that basically means this is the game to play on console, and the have said the editor is back in for console!
