@tjraptis Hi You've probably got a function modified keyboard, there should be some type of "modifier key" like an "F" or "FN" or something... hold that down as you hit F8, that should do the trick.
wow, how can you make a guide without explained what the heck you're doing? For example the numbers you're using to setting up the base memory, why not explain this? what's the point in saying "eh, just setting this up" ...
WHen you are installing Windows on a Mac (via Boot Camp or virtualization software like Fusions or VirtualBox) do you run the risk of getting viruses? Would this compromise the security of your Mac?
I have a question, when i try to start running it, it says no bootable medium found, system halt. Even if i already have a cd/dvd inserted already. pls help
I would carry out the install with a standard USB mouse attached as well as your current mouse, you can then search for applicable drivers. Hope this helps.
i need help, when i got the virtual box xp to work, and i started setting up the xp, it suddenly said thsat it didnt suport the mouse...how can i make it so that i would be able to use the mouse
note: im still getting the setup done by using the keys
the cd/dvd drive is not working on my macbook, is there anyway to boot the xp disc on vm virtual box from an iso file? (i just made one, but i can't figure out how to do such thing). it's quite urgent, any suggestions are accepted. (by the way bootcamp wont work...)
@BloodyInsane Hi Sorry for the delay... you can point to an ISO file from the "STORAGE" tab in setting and then + and browse to your ISO file. Hope this helps.
This may be a silly question. At what time should you have the XP install disc in? I didn't do it and i got a FATAL error message. I'm using 3.0.4 ver on my Mac 10.6.2 version.
@Namord insert your XP disk before you start your newly created virtual machine for the first time, as you would with a real computer without windows installed. In expination as no os is yet installed the os must boot from cd initially to enable windows setup.
@h8o7a Hi, the first thing you need to do is from the Finder menu click "Machine", "Delete"; this will delete the machine config from VM. The next step is to delete the Virtual Drive you made to contain Windows: From the Finder menu click "File", "Virtual Media Manager", once in click on "Release" and then finally "Remove"... That's it! If you want to uninstall VirtualBox completely from your Mac I would suggest using AppCleaner for Mac which can be found @ my website cpwiz.co.uk
Hi Templar21, Start your virtual machine as usual, then from the Finder bar at the top of your screen click on "Devices" then from the drop-down menu click on "Install Guest Additions". In you VM Windows desktop a dialogue will now appear as if you had loaded a CD into the VM computer; that's it, Enjoy!
@nyckillaheat hi sorry for the delay getting back to you... Create your virtual machine as usual as if you had a CD ready to use, then before you start the VM for the first time, single-click that VM from the list then "settings", in "settings" select "storage" and then from the CD/DVD Device drop-down select your local .ISO file... that's pretty much it, good luck! :)
i figured out the missing cd/dvd sign problem. you have to go to SETTINGS -› STORAGE and then on the left side under the IDE CONTROLLER click on the EMPTY CD sign and select the install cd on the right side. than save the changes. the cd/dvd sign won't appear this way either, but when you click on START it will start installing. hope it helps.
HELP! wheni get the the part of installation where it asks if you agree to the licence i cant press F8 or when i click capture mouse it wont work and theres no more mouse untill i press command
Hi, thankfully the solution is really simple; just go into system preferences on your mac and un-check the use 'Functions' check box, so now the modifier keys such as volume and brightness won't work but the function keys will just like on a PC, when you get past the F8 prompt on your install don't forget to change the keyboard setting back again. Hope this helps, Marc
@1:24 when you have the blue installing screen, i have a black screen that says something like "no bootable medium found! System Halted."
I dont have an actual windows xp CD, but i have downloaded the ISO directly from Microsoft's website. Is it not possible to do this from an ISO file?

you can virtualize just about any OS. I often do this myself for trouble shooting as well testing a new build.
