  • @1:24 when you have the blue installing screen, i have a black screen that says something like "no bootable medium found! System Halted."

I dont have an actual windows xp CD, but i have downloaded the ISO directly from Microsoft's website. Is it not possible to do this from an ISO file?

  • Bellissimo, avere xp su un sistema close ma pulito come mac.....

Speriamo in una versione di Virtualbox per Android......

    Complimenti per il video......

  • Any 1 have a product key?

  • Thanks

  • Hey, i try to install Windows XP but when i hit F8 to install it, it opens itunes. how do i change it so that it won't open itunes

  • @tjraptis Hi You've probably got a function modified keyboard, there should be some type of "modifier key" like an "F" or "FN" or something... hold that down as you hit F8, that should do the trick.

  • wow, how can you make a guide without explained what the heck you're doing? For example the numbers you're using to setting up the base memory, why not explain this? what's the point in saying "eh, just setting this up" ...

  • you can virtualize just about any OS. I often do this myself for trouble shooting as well testing a new build.

  • Can you get Mac on an XP with VirtualBox? Because if so that would be awesome I could get so many more cool things if I could get Mac on XP to work.

  • Good effort !

  • i turned a folder for windows xp into a .dmg file. will it still work?

  • WHen you are installing Windows on a Mac (via Boot Camp or virtualization software like Fusions or VirtualBox) do you run the risk of getting viruses? Would this compromise the security of your Mac?

  • I have a question. Is the installation going to erase the macs files?Im worried,So please reply back soon.

  • I have a question, when i try to start running it, it says no bootable medium found, system halt. Even if i already have a cd/dvd inserted already. pls help

  • I would carry out the install with a standard USB mouse attached as well as your current mouse, you can then search for applicable drivers. Hope this helps.

  • i need help, when i got the virtual box xp to work, and i started setting up the xp, it suddenly said thsat it didnt suport the mouse...how can i make it so that i would be able to use the mouse

note: im still getting the setup done by using the keys

  • Hi coolnilas, you will need a Windows disk.

  • Can I do this just by using a licence-code??

  • @MrHitMarker Sorry for the delay getting back to you... It's under settings for the VM (virtual Machine, ie XP) your using. Hope this helps.

    Marc

  • the cd/dvd drive is not working on my macbook, is there anyway to boot the xp disc on vm virtual box from an iso file? (i just made one, but i can't figure out how to do such thing). it's quite urgent, any suggestions are accepted. (by the way bootcamp wont work...)

  • @BloodyInsane Hi Sorry for the delay... you can point to an ISO file from the "STORAGE" tab in setting and then + and browse to your ISO file. Hope this helps.

    Marc

  • how do you make the mouse go in and out of the window? You didnt explain where we can get the software from :-/ and how to install it.

  • I don't have any cds i can create a Windows XP Home Edition SP2 without a CD just a .iso or .vdi file?

  • thank for this I hope it works better than boot camp

  • beautiful, it helped the most.

  • This may be a silly question. At what time should you have the XP install disc in? I didn't do it and i got a FATAL error message. I'm using 3.0.4 ver on my Mac 10.6.2 version.

  • @Namord insert your XP disk before you start your newly created virtual machine for the first time, as you would with a real computer without windows installed. In expination as no os is yet installed the os must boot from cd initially to enable windows setup.

  • @cpwizcouk How do you uninstall windows xp completely from your mac after this whole process?

  • @h8o7a Hi, the first thing you need to do is from the Finder menu click "Machine", "Delete"; this will delete the machine config from VM. The next step is to delete the Virtual Drive you made to contain Windows: From the Finder menu click "File", "Virtual Media Manager", once in click on "Release" and then finally "Remove"... That's it! If you want to uninstall VirtualBox completely from your Mac I would suggest using AppCleaner for Mac which can be found @ my website cpwiz.co.uk

  • @cpwizcouk Thank you very much, I appreciate it.

  • @h8o7a No problem, for more tips and tech news you can follow me on Twitter and/or "Like Me" on Facebook.

  • Hi Templar21, Start your virtual machine as usual, then from the Finder bar at the top of your screen click on "Devices" then from the drop-down menu click on "Install Guest Additions". In you VM Windows desktop a dialogue will now appear as if you had loaded a CD into the VM computer; that's it, Enjoy!

  • Hello, Where can I find the additions software you installed at the very end. I am having problems with xp detecting my videocard.

    Thanks!

  • what does it mean when i open up the virtual machine and i get the message no bootable medium found?

  • @1hitgamer You need to set your optical drive as a boot device and have a windows disk ready in it as if it were a PC.

  • it say it only runs on x86 architecture only??? help?

  • @italik13 Hi in English that simply means Intel Macs only. Hope this helps.

  • how can you get it to work with just and iso file because my CD drive/superdive does not work how can i boot this with iso????

  • @nyckillaheat hi sorry for the delay getting back to you... Create your virtual machine as usual as if you had a CD ready to use, then before you start the VM for the first time, single-click that VM from the list then "settings", in "settings" select "storage" and then from the CD/DVD Device drop-down select your local .ISO file... that's pretty much it, good luck! :)

  • @nyckillaheat yes u can...im doing it right now..what you need to.... nevermind ill make a tutorial if u wish (u stands for you)

  • hey cpwizcouk,

what does it mean when i open up the virtual machine and i get the message no bootable medium found?

    thanks for your help

  • i have the same problem, there is no cd/dvd option, moreover no hardware sign under the details. any idea what can cause that? thanks!

  • i have done everything right but i have no cd/dvd option underneath hardware when you try to install the operating system. can u please help?

  • where can you get the disc

  • HELP! wheni get the the part of installation where it asks if you agree to the licence i cant press F8 or when i click capture mouse it wont work and theres no more mouse untill i press command

  • Hi, thankfully the solution is really simple; just go into system preferences on your mac and un-check the use 'Functions' check box, so now the modifier keys such as volume and brightness won't work but the function keys will just like on a PC, when you get past the F8 prompt on your install don't forget to change the keyboard setting back again. Hope this helps, Marc

  • thanks man i couldn't have done it without you

  • Hi nlborix, these are built-in transition effects within Apple's iMovie which is what I use to edit my tutorials ready for YouTube.
