  • Oh boy, it'll be fun when images of this guy reaches the Lansraad. I can hear the sardukar gunning down the executrix as i'm sitting in my chair!

  • Come to think of it House Ordos reminds me of the Strogg from the Quake series. It appears that their civilization gets undergoes cyborg-like modifications.

  • CABAL!

  • Wow, Edric is going crazy. Let's not make another Omnius here.

  • why would the Atreidis betray the fremen ?

  • @ffalloutgirl This is what I thought at first, but if you listen closely he could actually be saying "We see the Atreides attacking with Fremen" which makes a lot more sense.

  • @matticusprime

if you read Smithdanger's description of the video, he says that the Atreides have turned against the Fremen.

  • @ffalloutgirl Yes, I see that now. Guess he made the same mistake I did. =)

  • I can't quite understand what Edric O is saying exactly. Can someone write it?

  • This comment section lacks on English.

  • Edric o: Finish it!

    Me: No...

  • This guy - Nod adviser.

Westwood didn't try too hard with their computer voice programs.

  • Cabal?

  • Awesome scenes,

@DarkAmnael, Because nobody can be almighty without falling and failing. In many stories told by men only justice will prefail. Like they say: Power comes with a price..

  • If you look at the screen that shows Edric 0's thoughts, you can clearly see his calculations are a lot faster now. So... the Speaker Edric 0?

  • Comment removed

  • Destroy the Emperor's palace. Nah, I prefer capturing it and gaining access to Sardaukar troops.

  • Does a robot needs Melange to operate?

And from which movie did the background borrows from? was it David Lynch's Dune ?

  • @DiscothecaImperialis he is a cybernetic clone.

  • 0:20 Robots need glasses also. Proven at

  • Too bad there aren't videos showing what happens after a House takes control over Dune.

For the Ordos, this video would have probably shown Edric 0 growing too powerful to contain, eventually gaining control over all mankind.

  • ''We see Atreides attacking the Fremen. We see... insufficient memory to continue execution of program. Please close some applications and retry.''

  • I wish we could train/summon him and use him as a hero charecter

  • creepy

  • dude this guy is free basing spice

  • oh, i get it. by ingesting spice he acquires prescient abilities--a Mentat Reverend Motherr...err.. Reverend Mentat?

  • Finish it! that is... the mission!

-"cant you do it yourself? im tired you know... hack their computers or something..."

  • yes,my masters.......

  • Too much Red Bull. Way too much.

  • Cabal?

  • @HawaiiKnut yeah he now sounds just like CABAL

  • he does does not fuck around in telling you what to do, that's for damn sure

  • No matter if the Ordos aren't part of mainstream Dune fiction, they are still my absolute favorite part of its universe. Particularly any time Edric O says "That is the mission".

  • Edric O is way cooler that Roma Atani. Roma is way hotter.

  • If u look carefully, Edric O's and the Executrix Council Speaker's face is kind of similar. It looks like Edric O upgraded into higher level.

  • @UberGadriel

Maybe Edric O is one of the Executrix Council Speakers O.o

Maybe even the Executrix himself, who knows? :P The Ordos ARE kind of a mystery, and they won Dune: 2000, so who knows?

  • @Cocarat206

I also think he is the Ordos head himself. If you look at part 5, its like he is talking and making plans while he is in the litte "hangover from the spice"

  • Edric O is way cooler than Roma Atani (try and shoot electricity out of YOUR hands ATANI!).

Love how he never blinks in any cutscene.

  • FINISHT IT!

  • Waaay coooler than roma atani of EBD

  • true. but the Executrix Speaker is just as cool as he is.

  • The voice of the mentat sound like Cabal...

  • This guy did a hella good job in these cutscenes

  • man i loved this cutscene. Thnx for uploading!

  • lol.

I WISH I HAD A COMPUTER LIKE THAT! ONE THAT WOULD SHORT CIRCUIT LIKE THAT!

THE OTHER 2 HOUSES WILL BECOME RUINS

    ORDOS RULE ALL. O_O >_> :D

uh, yea. 1 Edric model plx. XD

  • I love how, despite that you win, your head is going to be shown to the next commander. >_>

  • The eyes are wrong, all wrong... They were supposed to be nearly black, not shiny blue...

  • In the essay "Melange" in The Science of Dune (2008), Carol Hart analyzes the concept.

  • The most essential and valuable commodity in the universe, melange is a geriatric drug that gives the user a longer lifespan, greater vitality, and heightened awareness; it can also unlock prescience in some subjects, depending upon the dosage and the consumer's physiology. This prescience-enhancing property makes safe and accurate interstellar travel possible. Melange comes with a steep price, however: it is addictive, and withdrawal is fatal.

  • But does it work like Viagra? :V

  • Melange (alternately, "the spice") is the name of the fictional drug central to the Dune series of science fiction novels by Frank Herbert, and derivative works.

  • How is the spice used? What does the spice look like?

  • From what I know (and I dont't know much), it's ALMOST used as currency. It's so valuable that economy depends on it.

Also, it can apparently be used as some sort of drug, making people stronger, and giving them the power to see the future.

In Dune 2, Spice looked like thick orange dust on the sand.

    ...

Can anyone who has read the books shed more light on this subject?

  • I think you're right for the most part. Spice gave people longer life and limited prescience, and it was extremely valuable, being the foundation of the economy, which was based on trade.

I loved both the Lynch and sci-fi versions, but i think the trade aspect was lost in both movies. The economy was all about trade, in the dutch-east-india-company sense (the Atreides particular trade good was rice, and the Harkonnen's was manufactured goods)

  • This is, I believe, why Herbert chose to use the term "spice." (think about it, he could have called it anything). He was drawing on that period of human history when the dutch, portugese, english, spanish etc. were having nasty battles over who would monopolize the spice trade out of the east. They made tons of cash of spice, and they were willing to kill for it, just like the great houses in dune. If cinnamon and pepper are worth killing for, then certainly live-forever-see-the-future drug is

  • wtf is happening to him

  • hearing this speech still sends a chill down my spine. damn edric o is an melange addict

  • Tell me about it. I played Dune when I was only 8 years old. I couldn't understand ANYTHING that was said in the game but I still loved it. Every word. The voice... <3

  • That game was truely one of the best RTS's I had ever played. But the fact is i still play it but playing alone is not as good as the massive online games i used to host.

  • The spice gives you so much power but you get addicted to it forever. Why does sutch power always has sutch an awkward sideeffect?

  • Plot device, my good DarkAmnael...plot device.

  • nooo you do not get addicted to it forever. However the withdrawl it very bad alot of people do not survive. Guild Navagators can not live at all with out it after they are mutated by it

  • Yep he is a melange addict, And Melange addiction at any levels withdrawl is fatal.

  • where di you get that withdrawl at any level is fatal? have you not read the books?? people did die yes but not everyone, if that was the case why would Leto II impose such restrictions. by your thinking it would have wiped out his own empire. Not to mention that even in chapter house it talks about the spice withdrawl and from a first hand point of view.even after all that if u had read the books u would have known that the whores were witchs/fishspeakers/axol tanks-witchs were addicts

  • Yeah. After reading the first book I got the impression that it was an eternal addiction. In Dune Messiah, it dawned on me that that wasn't the case.

  • I have read most of the books but anything after children of dune i have been unable to find copies except for hunters of dune and sandworms of dune which i own. And anyway using leto II is a bit of a stretch being he was a Kwisatz Haderach and was able to fuse with the sandworms. And what i meant was that in the case of the guild navigators withdrawl was fatal. They are the only ones i truely see as addicts solely because they die with out it.

  • where did anyone mention LetoII

  • Leto II was not the Kwisatz Haderach. If I recall correctly, Duncan Idaho is the Kwisatz Haderach; his gholas have the memories of a thousand generations, in essence, the memories of a thousand lifetimes, thus bridging time and space. Could be wrong however.

  • No you're right. Leto II was something else entirely, being ultimately a fusion of human and sand worm with perfect prescience.

  • Paul Atreides was Kwisatz Haderach

  • No he's not.

  • Yes he is.

  • NO, he is not. Duncan Idaho is the kwisatz haderach. For those who gave a thumbs down, read the books.

  • No, Leto II was the Kwisatz Haderach. How was Duncan Idaho?

  • If you read all the books, Duncan Idaho, being a ghola, has had the memories of a thousand lifetimes, thus, he is the kwisatz haderach.

  • Which book? Such thing isn't dealt with in any of the canon texts. And memories of a thousand lifetimes doesn't make you a candidate for being a Kwisatz Haderach, having both male and female ancestoral memories does, which Leto 2 had, as well as Alia.

Also, remember that Paul was one generation removed from the schedueled Kwisatz Haderach. The next generation (Feyd and fem!Paul being the parents) would have yielded that. As it was, Leto 2 was that, consider the effect that he had on things...

  • The last one of the New Dune books. Sandworms ? Haven't read it actually, but my brother has.

  • New Dune books are noncanonical. They're a barstardisation of everything the originals were, and are generally at a far lower quality than the others. They're a shameless attempt by his sons to cash in on their Dad's fame.

  • I agree with you on that, but things are what they are.

  • What things are is that there is a series of books written by the original author.

Then there is a series of books not published by the original author, which display a marked difference in both plot, and characterisation.

Thus, I'd call it a seperate series altogether, and unworthy of retaining the name of Dune.

DI being the KH contradicts a great deal of material already established by Frank Herbert. I'd say that notes or not, the originals have precedence.

  • Technically, you're all correct...

  • @Hosea22 what do you mean by that?

  • @iamteuton I think he means Kamahl, the indian guy from ah.. india

  • Duncan Idaho was the "ultimate" kwisatz haderach by the final book but Paul Atreides still was a kisatz haderach. YOU read the books dumbass.

  • That's mister dumbass to you. And let's not call each other names, thank you.

  • The Atreides choice of Ordos stage 9 is bloody hard compared to the supposed similarly difficult Harkonnen one.

  • Agreed. Ordos level 9 was easy.

@CrimsonDeluxe: yeah, we got another Skynet to deal with.

  • Oh god, he's become self-aware ;_; No wonder they replaced him with Roma Atani.

  • Yeah but at least Roma has sex appeal :P:P

  • You see, this is why they had the Butlerian Jihad. This right hear. This is the reason.

  • lol. awesome.

  • @irule012 now here I thought it was because of that bitch butlers baby got killed :P
