If you walk in the cities you will find people unfriendly, you need to go outside the big places and find people in the nature in norway to find the friendly ones ^^
Almost, it's called "janteloven" (slight difference) and yes, it is one of those dark things about Norwegian society. I have never said that we have "the ultimate society," or even come close, but we are not "unfriendly," just a little reserved sometimes. Despite that, however, we are very liberal and not at all xenophobic, unlike many other nations.
Don't ask me about the reason for a lack of international companies, but we do have some. Just think about Statoil-Hydro or Telenor.
@Sverre105 janteloven kicks ass. it is why the Danes saved their Jews in WWII while other countries either cooperated with the Nazis or just stood by like the three monkeys. It is why Scandinavia have the most harmonic
societies on Earth even with the thirld world invasion of recent times
I am a very outgoing person by nature. I lived for several years in Norway and found the Swedes and Danes to be much more friendly than Norwegians. At first I thought the bad weather in Norway caused Norwegians to be unfriendly. But Sweden and Denmark have the same weather. In addition, Sweden and Denmark have large international companies while Norway has none. It seems there is a negative pattern among Norwegians that is not shared by your Scandinavian neighbors. Jenteloven?
bet you lived on the eastern part of norway.. great weather there but cant say the same thing about west part.. like almost 200 days of rain in the row..
@robertjohnson487 Well, you will always find friendly - and unfriendly people all over the globe, I am Norwegian, im proud of it, and im surtenly NOT unfriedldy, saying all nrowegians are unfriendly, si like saying all germans are nazi, witch they are NOT.
@robertjohnson487 Norwegians aren't as emotional as latin americans, but we're never unfriendly. I think you must have misunderstood or met the wrong people.

I have lived in several countries in the world. Norwegians are the most unfriendly people I have met. Sad...

@robertjohnson487
While that may be true, if you have that kind of attitude, you will find many people are unfriendly.
Norwegians are sometimes seen that way by foreigners, but we are not really unfriendly.
