If we ever meet an alien race,Humanity will probably do something stupid to fuck it up.Look at our race,we litter, pollute our water, air and atmosphere. We can barelly keep our economy going let alone try not to get in a war that could be the last one we have(human annihilation).
I have a strong suspicion that something funky is going on between humans and ETs. There is no way in hell we could both be silent for this long. No way in fuck, something fishy is going on!
@Boss5414 They tried to be open in the past and people got burnt to death all across Europe. They've been with us for as long as we have been here but we are so nasty how can they ever openly make themselves known?
@Saparonia I think that it is important to be rational about this topic and not give into fables, myths, weird interpretations, or craziness. I think it is much more plausible to assume that they are purposely avoiding us more than the other way around... mainly due to the fact that our species is rather violent, and close contact could be disastrous with the transformation of diseases...
@Boss5414 I think it's a bit strange how on an individual level we care about the immediate environment and it's inhabitants but on a collective level we allow ourselves to pollute and destroy everything in other people's territory and that's to ourselves! Imagine a force like that set free to do as it likes in the universe. No we aren't ready yet. As for the fables and myths of the past, they are where you find the truth and the real wisdom.
@Saparonia Well, if anything the aliens are avoiding us for some reason, maybe they are just observing us and trying to maintain a uninterrupted environment? Perhaps one ET civilization is shielding us from other ET civilizations? It's hard to say...
As with what you've said, the few influence the many, for better OR for worse...
There are many more signals that have been received. Including a direct response to a message sent by Nasa and Carl Segan.
They don't want to tell us the truth.
By the way they are not hostile. They are loving beings. They are observing us and want us to evolve. They have disabled missiles from harming us and the government is shooting back at them. The government want us to be fearful of them.
My opinion is that this was the first or one of the first ever radio signals by a civilisation. Its a fact that interference detected in the region has steadily increased over the years.
I think if those aliens were really ''intelligent''. I'm sure they wouldn'tdestroy themselves with they're own atom bomb , or blow themselves up after discovering the ''speed of light theory'' . We have'nt. (yet) .
@matt876mma no but just look at world war two, russia and usa almost did blow them selfs up with atomic bombs, and our sceince and technology was only what? a few hundred years old?
ALOT OF TALK ABOUT THE SIGNAL/CODE yet, WHO IS TALKIN ABOUT OR SUGGESTING WHAT IT SAYS, they can decode all types of languages etc id like to see the pattern of numbers & letters myself, dont you think some analysts would have an idea what it said!?! Any info or sites please tell me.
@RT28RABBIT Unfortunately, no one knows what it could have meant, if anything. It was not actually a pattern of numbers and letters sent, either. That is just what they use to record the signal. If they actually were an alien race, trying to communicate, they would have left more recognizable numbers. Of course, there's always the possibility they use a different number system, other than our base 10.
@Ryat51 The numbers and letters you see on the paper representing the signal are not an indicator of what was sent, but the strength of the signal, thats why most you see are 1s and 2s, the letters represent values greater then 9, A would be akin to 10 for example.
Every row mean another set of date,
Looking at it you can see the value quickly rising from a 6 to a Q and then dropping just a quick.
The message doesn't say anything it's just a sudden unexplained spike.
@RT28RABBIT You cant read what it says, since it could mean anything, and theirs too many possibilites. if you dont know the language, you will never uncode it.
people thinking that we are the only life out there are stupid.. we are a small world in a galaxy and our galaxy is in a universe full of other galaxys AND there are thousands of universes... mathmaticaly there should be other life forms

wtf, there are countless witness sightings and recordings of unexplainable phenomena in our skies. you only need one of those countless sightings to be legitimate for the presence of other life to be reality. and there is a lot of phenomena/conspiracies.
@saxonman There are countless sightings of ET craft, some sightings by credible witnesses, pilots, astronauts etc,but hawking says in one of his interviews, only cranks and wierdos see UFO's,after that statement i lost all respect for the guy,he is now just another narrow minded scientist, who will be forgotten.
lol so they were like, WOW look at this signal we picked up, it could lead us to an alien civilization, what should we say back? ahh don't worry about it they're prolly all dead
@catman13903 If we are smart enough to realize that the signal is 200 lightyears old and our reply would take that long to send back, then I'm sure whoever sent it knew that too.
I still don't get it. They transmit radio waves with 300.000 kilometres per second. And 1 lightyear = 1 year traveling at the speed of light? How can we reach 200 lightyears when we even don't have tho's discs for so long?
And really its not because mankind is still in such a primordial state of blowing itself up by carellesy acting with such discovery's and force's of and with nature doesnt mean other sentient life would be as careless. i doubt that a greater life form struggle's with being incapable of embracing the universal test of survival... and of the infinite life really. Not all forget the most greatest task at hand... the universe itself.
Hopefully the scientists at CERN have found that the speed of light is NOT the fastest thing in the universe! Imagine if we unlocked a new secret and could shorten 200 light years of travel to 50 or 100 **** years! Or perhaps we could harness the power of the sun to create a wormhole, as Hawking says of aliens in another episode from this series. Think I'd rather we went to Kepler now though.
Just if that was contact, it was sent in around 1777 by a civilization which at the time would have been the equivalent of a 20th or 21st century humankind, otherwise they probably would have come in person to visit us, so within the 2.4 centuries since 1777, they could have achieved interstellar travel well within that timespan.
So they could have sent a probe on its way to us right now that could arrive in the next 150 years, just maybe, its a possibility.
3. Once a civilization reaches a certain point of inter-universal travel, they'll realize with an infintie number of civilizations it will be our moral duty to help struggling civilizations first before less struggling ones such as ours and yet the ones yet to reach that point of morality and technology are the one's we could contact yet only a few of them will have the technology to do so.
@AtollRu I agree with your first and second point, but its hard to tell if a civilization lasts a short time or a long time, say if our civilization survived 1000 years more, with the technology we could have then, its hard to imagine that we will collapse as a civilization for a very, very long time (Millions of years, maybe billions or trillions). And if they don't follow moral duty, how would they survive as a civilization with the weapons they could have by then.
@deanmullen10 "how would they survive..." - exactly what I meant, saying that lifetime of civilizations may be very short. If today's people will somehow receive all the technologies of next 1000 years - we'll collapse for less than single week ))). This thing called "techno-humanitarian balance": the more advanced tecnology, the more developed social norms (not laws, but exactly social norms). If level of social progress don't match with technologies - civilization collapse...
@AtollRu very good point and interesting point too. Although technology is the direct fuel of social progression hence it would seem if technology arises society will too, it wont always be that way.
Is light speed as fast as we can go? Isn't there a way to speed up light? How about a light multiplier like a parabolic dish? When you turn on the light bulb in your room the light reaches all the walls at the same time. That must mean the lightwave is spherical. If it reaches north wall same time as south wall that would be multiplying by two. Twice the speed of light.
@61miroman speed up the light, i cant believe im saying it ... but that is actually pretty interesting. why allow yourselves to be limited by just a natural average
Scientists are so misanthropic.. "may have destroyed themselves.. humans are bad.. blah blah blah"... despite having tens of thousands of nuclear warheads on a hair-trigger during the Cold War, we didnt' destroy ourselves.
Maybe we're more resilient than they give us credit for.
@LiberalJerseyman I agree, but why do they assume it like: 'Oh, don't bother sending something back, they are probably dead allready', while there is totally 0,0% proof of that. Thats just a theory based on nothing. It's always worth the chance. What if some aliens pick up our signals and say the same to eachother, while we still are walking around here wondering?
@19boozebelly81 we are broadcasting...do you think we magically contain all the radio broadcasts in the world? Granted, ordinary television and radio station broadcasts are extremely diffuse when they reach space, we have been broadcasting messages for a long time, everyday the messages that we have sent are reaching farther and farther away and the potential audience is growing.
how about they time travel back to 1777, send a message to the exact origin of the Wow signal so it'll take 200 years to get to them and that'll show who ever sent it that life exists here too. if only time travel were possible...
This NASA scientists still don't understand E = MC/2 its non sense stupidity. Universe it doesn't work like that & they are far from reality. Who ever has the reality they don't want to except because his English is not good enough for them. But they don't realize they they do speak excellent English but their knowledge of universe is sucks.
If you are truly determent to contact to aliens first learned how to get alone with your own kind which all our human kind then you will see how from all over the universe you will receive contacts? Here on earth people act like wild beast each one has its own territory and killing other because of it I meant the nations.
i know what it was: a transmission from one alien starship to another that some how got through a cosmic net that makes sure that lower forms do not know of the existence of higher advanced forms until they have evolved from their barbaric ways. they found a way through the net. which amoung the higher forms very upsetting and they made sure it never happened again.
Is there any original audio about this wow signal. Can they any knowlede to reconstruct this signal to audio? I have heard this ONE sounds from space but I think it's a fake. If you know any sources about this signal WITH a sound, please give me a link. I really want to hear it. Thank You. :)
I dont understand i thought if something was in light years it takes how ever long to get there but only traveling at the speed of light...if this is not true, in this video a probel ike voyager 1 has been going for like 30-40 years and the closest star is 10 light years away...and its still in our solar system
its stupid and bias to push our flaws and views on a alien species, just as can possibly destroy themselves, they can also be better than us and have peace and prosperity.
@Johnhet09 the second survey using a different instrument and method has not confirmed the existence of Gliese 581g. Also they found errors in the data used to predict the existence of the planet. There is disagreement on the existence of Gliese 581g atm.
ummm how long ago was long ago was this video made cuz the signal was from a neutron star dying and be glad it was only the signal that hit us because if one of the two beams of energy had hit our planet we would have roasted
@ranger123789 I think the reason is in order for a probe to get there in 200 years. It would move as fast or near the speed of light. That would take a hole lot more energy they we can produce. Like power of massive star. Plus the single would take another 200 years The weird thing is if you where able to travel at the speed of light. Then Time would slow down for you. So if was possible then the trip would feel like maybe a few year for you. But for everyone else it would be centuries.
@ranger123789 because at the speed of light which is impossible to attain , it will take 400 years for the probe to reach there, then transmit the signal back and we receive it.
@ranger123789 Because even if it moved at the speed of light it would need, you guessed it, 200 years (and given current tech it would take a whole lot more than that) to get there. I'm pretty sure neither NASA or any other space agency would go out of their way to plan and fund such a long ass operation that might not find anything.
@ranger123789 It would take an astronaut shuttle 39,000 years to travel one light year. It took 200 light years for the signal to reach us. Then we take an enormous amount of time making an "advanced probe" because you don't want it to break down after one light year of travel. Then even if you did make one, It's gotta travel 200 light years "in a direction". Even if you reached the perfect source of location of the signal. The source would be long gone with no trace of existence.
@ranger123789 Radio waves can travel at the speed of light but physical objects can't, E=mc^2. Our best possible technology today (Daedalus starship) would take 4000 years to get there but cost trillions of dollars to build. Normal probes would take millions of years to get there.
@ranger123789 It takes over 15,000-18,000 years(not sure on the number) to travel one light year at the speed of the fastest chemical rockets. We could just wait till we refine nuclear thermal rockets or invent something else.
Dude are you serious? The farthest ship we've ever sent into space was launched over 30 years ago and hasn't even left the solar system yet. It has gone 1/30th of a lightyear, and has WELL PASSED PLUTO. So it would take 4.2 lightyears to reach even the nearest star. That is so discouraging. NONE OF THE PEOPLE WATCHING THIS VIDEO OR READING THIS COMMENT WILL EVER GET TO REACH ANOTHER STAR :'( FUCKKKKK
@Cookycow You do know a light year is a measure of distance not time right? It would take 4.2 years... at the speed of light. If we can develope a way to travel close to the speed of light, it will take a relatively less time for the person in the spacecraft. Their personal time will slow doan dramatically so while they travel a lot more time would pass on earth than for them. They would be there an a few hours.. but if they ever return to earth, many years would have passed.
Also, do not be discouraged.... We think of motion and travel in terms of classical physics still. Our understanding of the universe is always increasing and the method for space travel, if we ever find it, would not be with such crude and primitive knowledge. In short, we cant imagine it being possible now, but who knows what we will discover!
I recently read an article regarding the Voyager-1 probe.
After being the fastest man-made object in space for almost 40 years, only in 2010 did it finally enter the Heliosphere- the border between the Solar System and interstellar space. It will take another 8 years to exit the Heliosphere. It will reach the nearest star in 14,000 years at its current speed.
The New Horizons probe (about the size of a small bus) launched 3 years ago will reach Pluto in another 5 years, and also will disappear into deep space after that, but will never outstrip Voyager-1in speed or distance because of its course (not because it's newer).
Until we can learn to safely get closer to the speed of light (which can not be exceeded by current understandings), the stars remain unattainable to us.
@ranger123789 Because it will take a really long ass time to get there. Even traveling at the speed of light (which is impossible right now) it would take 200 years. and as the video says. They could have destroyed themselves or forgot they sent it in the first place.
@ranger123789 it takes 200 years for light to travel. Do you think any material object would be faster? on the other hand they could just send Millennium Falcon or Death Star ;)
@ranger123789 by just sending a message at the speed of light, that message itself will take at least 200 years to reach that star, let alone an adavanced probe. thats gonna take at least 2000 years to reach that star or even more.
@Woods9051 there is life on other planets, its a fact, big chance they r more intelligent and better developed too, there r 2 really unexplainable incidents: the wow signal and the phoenix lights, so lets assume they allready discovered us, the real big question is what r they gonna do to us ? and what do they know bout us?
they might not have attacked yet cuz they dont know of our capabilities.. or we r just not interesting enough..
BTW the NSA messages I did mentioned are part of the NSA Technical manuals, those messages and other similar stuff related to extraterrestrials were put together to test the "Ingenuity" of the readers, I forgot to include >:) at the end of the previous comment.
For sure they have more than 29 real messages on their files, chances of them declassifying the material are big time zero.
it's not hard to understand this ... just ask your government and they should have a few million pages of signals, apparently this signal was found then hidden by the same mother fuckers that hide ETs in nevada area 51 and new mexico dolce underground facilities!!
"to say we are alone in the universe is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet only one grain will grow"
....some Chinese dude from a long time ago....Wise man
i personally have no doubt that there are other forms of intelligent life out there but i do doubt if we will ever make contact with them...the universe is a big place and besides do we really want to make contact with a more advanced civilization than our own.... look what happened when it occurred here
@ZenonDorinPower Auch. I have a hard time remembering this, since it is about 2 years ago when I made it with my science teacher, but I think it is something about taking all the know space of the galaxy, and multiply by planets in the universe, and some shit. It would be written as something like F * R * H * ... And it goes on for about some time. Maybe seven times of different stuff, that would lead to an answer like: In the hole universe there would be 6 intelligent lifeforms.
Sorry, but that's not valid. I find it weird some can claim that mathematicians solved this probability ecuation given the so many unknown variables, because it can't be.
@ZenonDorinPower That is because I can't remember how to get the full mathematic line. Although people still think there are other intelligent life, I still have some considering... We could possibly be the ONLY intelligent life in the universe, because of our earth that has the exact right conditions to create life.
Anyone ever considering to read a -brief history of time- by Steven Hawking..don't waste YOUR brief history of time, he says it ALL on the very last page.
nooooooooooooooooooooo !! why didn't they respond !!!! even if it takes 200 yrs, they won't "forget" !! what kind of thinking is that ???

Just if that was contact, it was sent in around 1777 by a civilization which at the time would have been the equivalent of a 20th or 21st century humankind, otherwise they probably would have come in person to visit us, so within the 2.4 centuries since 1777, they could have achieved interstellar travel well within that timespan.
So they could have sent a probe on its way to us right now that could arrive in the next 150 years, just maybe, its a possibility.
deanmullen10 2 months ago
I think contact is rare because:
1. Life is rare
2. Civilizations are rarer
3. Once a civilization reaches a certain point of inter-universal travel, they'll realize with an infintie number of civilizations it will be our moral duty to help struggling civilizations first before less struggling ones such as ours and yet the ones yet to reach that point of morality and technology are the one's we could contact yet only a few of them will have the technology to do so.
deanmullen10 2 months ago
@deanmullen10 Another IMHO
1. Life isn't so rare (appears everywhere as soon as appears required conditions)
2. If planet have a rich biosphere, the first intelligent specie (Someone Sapiens) is just matter of time
3. Lifetime of any civilization is very short (in astronomical scale). So, it's very difficult to met nearby civilization existing at the SAME TIME
4. "Moral duty" is nothing but ideological concept. Only very few of civs will follow it in their "foreign policy"
AtollRu 2 months ago
@AtollRu I agree with your first and second point, but its hard to tell if a civilization lasts a short time or a long time, say if our civilization survived 1000 years more, with the technology we could have then, its hard to imagine that we will collapse as a civilization for a very, very long time (Millions of years, maybe billions or trillions). And if they don't follow moral duty, how would they survive as a civilization with the weapons they could have by then.
deanmullen10 2 months ago
@deanmullen10 "how would they survive..." - exactly what I meant, saying that lifetime of civilizations may be very short. If today's people will somehow receive all the technologies of next 1000 years - we'll collapse for less than single week ))). This thing called "techno-humanitarian balance": the more advanced tecnology, the more developed social norms (not laws, but exactly social norms). If level of social progress don't match with technologies - civilization collapse...
AtollRu 2 months ago
@AtollRu very good point and interesting point too. Although technology is the direct fuel of social progression hence it would seem if technology arises society will too, it wont always be that way.

E=MC2=everyone blowing themselves up?
MrParodymakers99 2 months ago
Is light speed as fast as we can go? Isn't there a way to speed up light? How about a light multiplier like a parabolic dish? When you turn on the light bulb in your room the light reaches all the walls at the same time. That must mean the lightwave is spherical. If it reaches north wall same time as south wall that would be multiplying by two. Twice the speed of light.

But they don't realize they they do speak excellent English but their knowledge of universe is sucks.

If you are truly determent to contact to aliens first learned how to get alone with your own kind which all our human kind then you will see how from all over the universe you will receive contacts? Here on earth people act like wild beast each one has its own territory and killing other because of it I meant the nations.
Levon9404 3 months ago
i know what it was: a transmission from one alien starship to another that some how got through a cosmic net that makes sure that lower forms do not know of the existence of higher advanced forms until they have evolved from their barbaric ways. they found a way through the net. which amoung the higher forms very upsetting and they made sure it never happened again.

You could get the probe to travel faster through quantum tunneling. Think about how fast my balls where in your girlfriends mouth that night?
ciarepairs 4 months ago
why dont they just make an advanced probe to travel 200 light years in the direction where the signal came from?
ranger123789 4 months ago 17
@ranger123789 I think the reason is in order for a probe to get there in 200 years. It would move as fast or near the speed of light. That would take a hole lot more energy they we can produce. Like power of massive star. Plus the single would take another 200 years The weird thing is if you where able to travel at the speed of light. Then Time would slow down for you. So if was possible then the trip would feel like maybe a few year for you. But for everyone else it would be centuries.
Tuber77 4 months ago
@ranger123789 because at the speed of light which is impossible to attain , it will take 400 years for the probe to reach there, then transmit the signal back and we receive it.
sushanalone 3 months ago
@ranger123789 Simple we cant travel remotely close to the speed of light :L
hectichorse 3 months ago

@hectichorse Yet ;), Einstein is already been proven wrong
kite781 3 months ago
@ranger123789 Because even if it moved at the speed of light it would need, you guessed it, 200 years (and given current tech it would take a whole lot more than that) to get there. I'm pretty sure neither NASA or any other space agency would go out of their way to plan and fund such a long ass operation that might not find anything.
NINJAinTIGHTS 3 months ago

Normal probes would take millions of years to get there.

mercanaries3 3 months ago
@ranger123789 It takes over 15,000-18,000 years(not sure on the number) to travel one light year at the speed of the fastest chemical rockets. We could just wait till we refine nuclear thermal rockets or invent something else.
matthewe293 3 months ago
@ranger123789
Cookycow 3 months ago
@Cookycow You do know a light year is a measure of distance not time right? It would take 4.2 years... at the speed of light. If we can develope a way to travel close to the speed of light, it will take a relatively less time for the person in the spacecraft. Their personal time will slow doan dramatically so while they travel a lot more time would pass on earth than for them. They would be there an a few hours.. but if they ever return to earth, many years would have passed.
Cyanescia 2 months ago
Also, do not be discouraged.... We think of motion and travel in terms of classical physics still. Our understanding of the universe is always increasing and the method for space travel, if we ever find it, would not be with such crude and primitive knowledge. In short, we cant imagine it being possible now, but who knows what we will discover!
Cyanescia 2 months ago
@ranger123789 Takes alot of money and work to put together that kinda mission haha but I agree with you, we should.
Pluntfarb 3 months ago
@ranger123789
EVAUnit4A 2 months ago
The New Horizons probe (about the size of a small bus) launched 3 years ago will reach Pluto in another 5 years, and also will disappear into deep space after that, but will never outstrip Voyager-1in speed or distance because of its course (not because it's newer).
Until we can learn to safely get closer to the speed of light (which can not be exceeded by current understandings), the stars remain unattainable to us.
EVAUnit4A 2 months ago
@ranger123789 Because it will take a really long ass time to get there. Even traveling at the speed of light (which is impossible right now) it would take 200 years. and as the video says. They could have destroyed themselves or forgot they sent it in the first place.
MyLacesAreOut 2 months ago
@ranger123789 it takes 200 years for light to travel. Do you think any material object would be faster? on the other hand they could just send Millennium Falcon or Death Star ;)

TheStarzed 2 months ago
@ranger123789 by just sending a message at the speed of light, that message itself will take at least 200 years to reach that star, let alone an adavanced probe. thats gonna take at least 2000 years to reach that star or even more.

ZenonDorinPower 5 months ago
@ZenonDorinPower Auch. I have a hard time remembering this, since it is about 2 years ago when I made it with my science teacher, but I think it is something about taking all the know space of the galaxy, and multiply by planets in the universe, and some shit. It would be written as something like F * R * H * ... And it goes on for about some time. Maybe seven times of different stuff, that would lead to an answer like: In the hole universe there would be 6 intelligent lifeforms.
ExoVampire 5 months ago
@ExoVampire
Sorry, but that's not valid. I find it weird some can claim that mathematicians solved this probability ecuation given the so many unknown variables, because it can't be.
ZenonDorinPower 5 months ago
@ZenonDorinPower That is because I can't remember how to get the full mathematic line. Although people still think there are other intelligent life, I still have some considering...
