They should still have scrooge. It is timeless. Thats why I think Canadian Tire has gone down hill with their marketing. And rumor is, they are getting rid of Canadian Tire money as well. Thankss for uploading this!
@RetroTy7 - He didn't just do those ads. He appeared on many Canadian TV shows, for many years---most notably, "Wayne & Shuster". And he founded the legendary Bohemian Embassy coffeehouse, which hosted performances by many folk musicians, comedy acts, and poets.
Unfortunately, he didn't trademark the name, & it was recently appropriated by some condo developers for their condos on Queen St. W., near the Gladstone Hotel. Needless to say, he was not amused, but, legally, couldn't do anything.
Scrooge was a good inspiration for the cheapskate in me. Just ask my longtime friends. This was 1 of my favourite commercials!

I didn't realize the campaign went all the way back to '82..i would've figured late 80's...
Oh and those prices, i wouldn't pay that much even today!
