  • at 100$+ per sqft, having a 6sqft interstitial cavity is a 600$+ mistake, so the real mistake is the delbert that designed the floor plan, or the framer for not correcting it. And yes, fiberglass is NON-cumbustable. you recommend osb(glues burn like wildfire) or foam, like fuel on a fire instead? Doesn't make sense. I would take a small amount of air getting through, vs. having an extrememly flammable cap. That fire wil get its air through outlet holes, gaps in the drywall, gaps under the plat

  • It is a firestop whether you agree or not, obviously the insulator and the building inspector have more experience than you. Ever stuffed fiberglass into a pipe and blown? It will seal better than most of the things you just listed. If your going to pick that house apart, than start with the fact there is insulation in it before it even has gable sheething, actually double walls like that one are rare if you have a descent builder or framer. Why pick apart that little peice of insulation?
